We used to call it "weather" until 24/7 news coverage out of Atlanta, Ga. started back in the 80s.
Locally, a "blizzard" has to be life changing and serve as a marker place in history like the Blizzard of 78 in New England. Deaths, local land marks destroyed by the ocean storm that came with the snow, and kids born 9 months later mark a real blizzard worth mentioning.
Just watched "Open Range" and as it ended I looked outside and the snow has started. Two feet headed our way. Let it snow! "Cold Mountain" is next up for viewing (strangely appropriate). -- lancer
I would like to share something that almost traumatized me. I come from Brazil (tropical weather) and have been living in Canada Ottawa region for more than 18 years. After all those years I got use to a very cold weather and snow winters, but in 2007 we had a record in snow accumulation more than 400 cm fell between December and March.
Compare this two photos took it in my backyard in January 2008 (average winter) the second was in 2007 same place.
We were supposed to get at least 6 inches last night . . . so far zilch, zero nada! Boy those weathermen really know what they are talking about . . . not!!!

We have got snow since December 24th and now it is enough! Plus 2 storms which ment almost a total close of the intire country! I have dug my car out 2 times now, and this is not fun!!
We want Spring!!!! Badly!!!
We want to BBQ, drink readwine and enjoy sun and super weather!
Sitting at 26+ inches here. The whole region has gotten pounded with some areas, like Frederick, over 30+ inches. Talked to my brother in Jersey and he said southern Jersey got clobbered but his area, Glenridge, got little. It is still snowing here with a couple more inches predicted. Still got power and watching westerns. Stay warm. -- lancer
We now have close to 30 inches in Reisterstown, several snow blowing sessions later, I can see some pavement, but no plows on the roads, should make for an interesting next few days.
