Let it snow (3 Viewers)

We're due for a major cold snap this weekend. The low on Saturday is supposed to be -3, with a high of 15.
Got a few inches today, but didn't cause too much trouble, streets clear. Now it's getting very cold. -- Al

Lost: one Polar Vortex. Can be identified by -40 temperatures and high winds. Last seen heading south to US border. :) No reward.

Got blitzed by Terry's Polar Vortex. Got an inch of snow in a drive-by blizzard this AM and now the temp is 4, with the wind-chill. Think I'll stay in for a while.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Gents,

I read its a "Arctic Surge" not a "Polar Vortex" of temps in the negative 40 to 50 degrees...just saying. I'm sure you guys know the difference.

Today in South Texas...perfect Copa Soccer Tournament Weather; blue skies and a high of 70 degrees.

Al, you got to upgrade your soup bro.

The NBA Allstar Game is in Toronto today. The temperature even made the sports news in the US. During the broadcast this morning the temperature fell from -11F to -15F and it will go down to -37F overnight. It was so cold this morning I had to unstick the brake pedal and the gas pedal and scrape the frost off the inside of the windshield.

For the last few days, we've gotten a little snow each day, nothing really to of concern. Right now it's 14 but it's expected to drop throughout the day.

John. It may be an Arctic Surge in the NE US,, but up here it's colder. Come on up to Toronto. I'll give you a personal guided tour outdoors so you can experience the difference of a Polar Vortex. {eek3}^&grin.

PS: Arn't there Sasquatches up there?

We have gotten a lot of blowing snow the last couple of days. It creates some dangerous conditions in the road because you are driving along on a clear road then suddenly hit a snow drift. I see people rocketing along though no matter what condition the roads are in. No wonder there are so many accidents.

Combat!

I don't know how you guys do it. Uh oh, it is getting a little cloudy right now.

John, I don't know from Arctic Surge or Polar Vortex, all I know is it's too cold for me.:wink2: As for the soup, how does one upgrade soup?:wink2:^&grin -- Al

I'm lighting fires in both the living room and kitchen fireplaces, and just staying inside and being cozy today.:smile2: I let my Siberian Huskies go out and enjoy the weather.:wink2:

Sky has begun to get cloudy - a sign the Polar Vortex is breaking up. Saturday overnight temperature was supposed to be -37F but this has been revised up to only -27F. Sunday it's going up to +7F - that's jacket weather. But the damage is done. We hosted the NBA All Star Game and all the Americans who came up to Toronto for the weekend and those US basketball fans now think Canada is a cold country because of the timing of a weekend Polar Vortex:rolleyes2:

I feel bad for all of you suffering from the bitter cold. I wish we could send some of our warm weather to you since we have it in excess and have been experiencing record setting days with the temperatures in the lower 90s or high 80s F. I have actually been running our central air conditioning (in February?). You have got to be kidding me. To make matters worse, the El Nino rain storms have failed to materialize to date and we have only received half of the rainfall totals compared to last year at this time when we were in the fourth year of our drought. I hope this isn't our fifth year, I have already cut back water usage by 25%. Maybe they will mandate taking just one shower per week. However, I will resist to the bitter end tearing out our grass and replacing it with a plastic lawn.

3 over here. We just had Chinese Hot Pot, which really warms you up. Chinese people eat it when it's real cold outside

Ha! We got it easy. Still 13 here. But we are south of the Mason/Dixon.:wink2:^&grin -- Al
