Let it snow (1 Viewer)

Well I just got done digging, again.I think we got 12-15" so not as bad as some.My biggest concern and thankfully up to this point we have not lost power but I'm always concerned of some cowboy going out and hitting a pole.

I just spent the last 30 minutes (through the upstairs windows) trying to knock off some of the snow. Let's see what happens.

Wow, you got clobbered, looks like close to a foot, take good care of yourself.

Here in MA where I am, we got about 6 inches, the Cape got hammered, about a foot with widespread power loss, that is the biggest pain in the *** about snow, losing power.

Got up this morning, shoveled off my landing and two steps, walked out to my Jeep, opened the door, started it and backed out of my spot and went to DD and got my morning coffee, I let the wind take the snow off the jeep.

Condo living isn't all bad.................

Smart man, Brad. Stay off the roof. Pitched roofs and snow/ice are not the friend of man. I speak from experience, both work and personal. Gravity will hurt you. Always safer keeping feet on the ground.:wink2:
We ended up with record snowfalls throughout the area. Baltimore and surrounding area had the most ever. Germantown and upper county area had record amounts. Maryland closed all of Route 270 and most of Route 70 for most of the night, only reopening them this AM. Now for the big dig-out. Stay safe, everyone. The only digging I will be doing is through the pantry, feeding my face.^&grin -- Al

Al, not to worry. There is no way I would go on a roof even in summertime. Thank you but no thank you. I'm not sure how much we got here but in Central Park in New York City, they recorded 26.8 inches, the second most since 1869 (which is when I assume they started keeping records).

Though I loathe the snow, the pristine glistening of the snow is a magnificent site...from afar.

Stay safe.

Fourth time was the charm, the driveway is clear and ready to go. On Long island the news said we got between 27 and 29 inches, and I believe it. Thankfully I listened to my wife and bought a snow blower, as there is no way I could have shoveled with my back.

We got around 30 inches. I spent another hour this morning snow blowing. With the sun shining today hopefully that does the trick. It's amazing how quickly snow will melt once you get down to those last few inches and the sun is shining on the pavement. Wouldn't expect things to return to normal for a few days though.

My nomination for Dork o' the Storm goes to the individual in DC who got his van stuck last night, after numerous warnings to stay off the streets. His solution to unsticking his van was to spin the wheels non-stop until, you guessed it, the tires heated up and caught fire. The resultant vehicle fire did melt the snow and ice that the van was stuck in but the van was a total loss. Salute!:salute:: -- Al

Looks like you guys are through the worst of it. Time to put on a Happy Face

It wasn't one of our government representatives, was it? :wink2:

Not really. You guys got plenty of snow. We get 3-5 of those storms each winter so we are just more used to dealing with it. Where it gets bad is when we get 3 in a row a few days apart and there is no place to put the snow.
Can't believe the guy that set his tires on fire. That's not easy to do with a van. Sounds like he had a meltdown before the van had it's meltdown. He'll have another one when his Insurance Company won't pay.

Those were my thoughts, exactly. How do you explain this one to your insurance agent? Wouldn't be surprised if his rates go up a bit.:rolleyes2:^&grin -- Al

Ok 35 inches at my place, Bwi officially recorded over 29, making it the biggest ever in Maryland. Spent the morning finishing the driveway and deck for fourth time. Then did the roof so that I was able to clear directv for football. The roof is dangerous but I had to do it for weight, water and football.

As far as consumption, we have killed multi wine bottles, vodka and even some Irish whiskey, gotta have coffee ya know!

Ok on to the horizontal position to comfortably watch football.

Total at my place was around 13 inches but for the county it was 16. Secondary roads coming to work this morning were a disaster. They haven't seen a plow or sander since Friday. Like driving over railroad tracks for 40 min to get to the main highway. Mount Mitchell which is an hour away got 66 inches. Thank god we didn't get close to that. My bread and milk supply wouldn't sustain me for the length of time it would have taken me to dig myself out of a second story window to see the light of day.
Feel for you people that did get dumped on and especially any who lost power or were stranded on the roadway.
50 degree weather this afternoon and freezing temperature tonight. Should have kept my Bauer skates for the ride tomorrow AM.
