Let it snow (1 Viewer)

Total at my place was around 13 inches but for the county it was 16. Secondary roads coming to work this morning were a disaster. They haven't seen a plow or sander since Friday. Like driving over railroad tracks for 40 min to get to the main highway. Mount Mitchell which is an hour away got 66 inches. Thank god we didn't get close to that. My bread and milk supply wouldn't sustain me for the length of time it would have taken me to dig myself out of a second story window to see the light of day.
Feel for you people that did get dumped on and especially any who lost power or were stranded on the roadway.
50 degree weather this afternoon and freezing temperature tonight. Should have kept my Bauer skates for the ride tomorrow AM.

My wife said she was going to the store the day before the storm hit, like everyone else. I told her to forget the milk and bread and just get essentials, toilet paper and bourbon. :wink2: Chris

Couple of action shots, yes the snow walls are really that high in Maryland.........................looks like Minnesota!!!!!!!

Looks like up here too. Work is about 50% full today. Not sure why.

The snow totals at Reagan National Airport have always been suspect and the butt of local humor. The airport is across the river from DC to start with, so why is it the official measurement point for DC anyway? Snow totals at the airport have always been less than in the city proper and certainly less than surrounding counties so no one pays much attention to the airport totals other than the Weather Service. The airport totals simply do not reflect reality for the area. -- Al

We have the same issue at BWI in the Baltimore area. For example, Carroll and Frederick COunties which are within 30 and 40mins of BWI each received over 3 feet of snow locally - BWI only registered 29.2 in the official spot when a nearby television station measured 35 inches (non drift) on air.

Don't put those shovels away just yet, just read another huge possible storm headed for the East Coast but looking to head more North (Mass. Maine areas) but if the track moves South it could be another biggie for the mid Atlantic, go get that bread and milk now!!!!:)...Sammy

Sammy, please tell me you are kidding!{sm4}

I just looked at the forecast and there is no snow predicted so I wouldn't worry. Nothing on LI either.

We had a high of about 48 deg yesterday. Rained last night and no residual snow on the ground today. :smile2: Probably moving east towards the MD-VA area. Chris

It was around 40 here today and it seemed a lot of the snow on the roof melted.

In NY and other cities the problem is where to put the snow; it's causing major traffic jams.

It was 50 degrees today in Boston, temperatures will remain in the mid 40's the rest of the week, not a bad way to end January...........

They should take a flamethrower to it.

We have our problems with the weather up here too. The temperature dipped just below freezing last night for the first time in weeks and the grass was covered with a light dusting of snow. /but it's going to warm up again and everything will melt. Long range forecast doesn't show below freezing temperatures until the 2nd week in February and no major snowfalls expected. If this is global warming then I'm for it.

We're due for a major cold snap this weekend. The low on Saturday is supposed to be -3, with a high of 15.
