Let it snow (1 Viewer)

Thanks Sammy! Its the blessing of living in a historical home built in 1843. They didn't have central heating then, so the house came with 5 fireplaces, 3 of which are presently functional. I hope to have them all up and working one day.

It's around -2.

One of the worries is the pipes freezing; we have two areas where this can happen: laundry room and living room. You have to do a wash when it gets cold and keep the heat running. We learned the hard way once when the pipes froze. Fortunately we got them unfrozen but if you don't, when they unfreeze on their own, you can have a major mess.

Don't know how cold it got overnight, but when we left for brunch around 10:00 am it was 4 degrees.

Brad,

We have the same issue in our laundry room. We stick a heater in there on nights like this.

John, I don't know from Arctic Surge or Polar Vortex, all I know is it's too cold for me.:wink2: As for the soup, how does one upgrade soup?:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Al,

I mean you can get a couple of Hungry Mans or some Ramen Noodles to change it up bro. I don't want you to get scurvy or anything...lol.

Louis, nice fireplaces! Reminds me of those old colonial houses which you confirmed they are. I have one fireplace and it works. The wife has cinnamon candles in it for decoration.

Jazz, it looks like the Chinese and New Jersey'ins eat Chinese Hot Pot when they are both cold now.

We have a tree here in South Texas that is getting ready to bloom. The Texas Mtn Laurel blooms a purple flower for about 3 weeks and it is the single most beautiful smelling flower I have ever smelled in the world, next to the Plumeria. If you guys want some blooms I will be happy to send you some fresh cuts.

That seems like a good idea Louis.

Man, it's really cold tonight. The good news is that it will be in the 40s on Tuesday.

Hey, Sammy, you know where you can stick it ^&grin and the sun don't shine there :wink2:

It's 17 and the flurries are starting. Supposed to get anywhere from 2" to 5" again tonight. Winter was late getting here but it is here with a vengeance and doesn't want to let go. -- Al

It's 7 here going down to 3 soon but then it starts to get warmer. The bad news is that it's going to snow tomorrow.

We're having a heat wave...temp is 22...and it is snowing. This is 3rd measurable snow we've had in 3 weeks. More than usual for us in this fair, southern climate.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Yeah, it's snowing here, too, but the forecast along the eastern side of the Appalachians is 1 to 3 inches, into the evening. More is expected on the western side, along Lake Erie and up into western New York. For us here, the tricky part will be snow and slush freezing, with the temperatures below freezing. But consistent with February's nature, tomorrow, we're expected to have a warm-up, up to 50 degrees. Warm, freeze, warm, freeze--that's February.

Prost!
Brad

Brad,

We too are getting 1-3 inches of snow today then warming up to 55 degrees and pouring rain tomorrow. If you don't like the weather, stick around for a couple of minutes, it'll change.{sm4}

Gents,

I have a crew at my house building me a cascading mini river in the front of my house. I had a concrete bridge poured in my flat work so that you could walk over the "river" and see the water on one side. My dilemma is moving these humongous limestone boulders like a tetris game and making them fit.

Tomorrow it will be around 78 degrees and clear.

I will send pics soon,

John from Texas

PS: I don't mean to rub it in like seasoning in a brisket.

Sounds like moving those blocks will be difficult to move. I'm sending you one of our Canadian Polar Vortex. The snow and ice will help slide your blocks around and keep the beer cold. :p^&grin
