Little Legion (2 Viewers)

You are a lucky chap. Where did you get hold of all that. Trophy Zulu War stuff is increasingly difficult to find. There is an auction on e bay for the Quartermaster says No set.
I look forward to some photos.
Regards
Damian

Damian,

Get with MKL Models in the UK via their website and get Lynn to tell you what sets they have left. I would recommend forthwith! Mike

Here's the only Little legion I was able to "open up". Mike

He hussled back to the Commissary Storehouse cracking another case of ammo as he's being brought another to open.....The Lt.

I heard Ian Knight once say that you could smash the box open with your rifle butt. He didn't believe the story about no screwdrivers or stingy quartermasters. STill as the great director John Ford said when the legend is better know than the facts you print the legend.
Great figures boys

I remember seeing a documentary where they actually opened a crate with the rifle butt to dispell the myth. 90 degree angled screws (as a result of the butt-opening) were found at the site to support that theory.

Mike Norris takes no chances with the historical accuracy brigade. He does both versions. I hadn't seen this one before

Damian,
Either have I. It is beautiful. Accuracy dictates the leather case, though(check my earlier mistake with another older maker)
. Thanks for posting this nice set, SGMSU! Mike

Is that the JG miniatures backdrop? Do you prefer photo backdrops over painted ones?

Joachim,
Beleive it or not but there are 4 small JG pieces set up on top of each other with a painted picture background. This was before I made my own river scene base. I like painted backgrounds because they go out of focus better in a picture, plus I don' have any photo backgrounds, And I don't know what I'm talking about. Mike

Great vingette. Where is the mistake, are they on the wrong side of the river? Accoring to Ian Knoght when they shot Zulu Dawn, they filmed the invasion from the Zulu side to the Natal side rather than the other way round. For cinematic reasons

Damain

Because of the nostalgic feel associated with toy soldiers I would choose painted backgrounds myself. It's about the effect.

Damian,

The mistake that a lot of the makers make is to have the colours unferled in all their glory while coghil/Melvill make the run. They were actually encased in their leather flag carrying case. But they woul not look as good , what!

Here's a similar photo which appears in OSPREY Campaign Series 14 Zulu War 1879 buy both Ian Knight and Castle which depicts the event by Artist Bud Bradshaw called Melvill's Ride to Glory which gives a more accurate depiction of the event according to historians that took place.....The Lt.
