As long as the quality control was good I am sure it should not be a problem.

Tom,

Didn't Trophy have more than one person painting their figures? Plus as a figure painter myself, I don't really see that it would be that hard to copy Trophy's painting style.

Maybe some of the other painters could chime in with their opinions about coping the painting style.

Chuck

True, I am sure you are correct and as Damian pointed out on quality control, important. It is probably just me I have always said, I get like a 5year old at Xmas time when I see an rippled red box, with a ever changing label on top of it!!!!!!!! In all seriousness, i will certainly support any new offerings in the lines I like!

Tom

My point was not to pour water on anything, it is just something to get those old red boxes and open them!

it would be nice to see trophy produced again, but i think there maybe a difficulty with the molds. i am sure they have been moved around alot and it would probably be quite difficult to figure out what goes with what. also some of the molds could be worn out. maybe they can sculpt new figures to be trophy like with newer poses and then paint them up like the older trophy. maybe when len is feeling better they could commision him to scuplt some new figures and then produce them. len might enjoy that without the pressures of running the business.

The moulds were only moved from Lens to Kens. Len kept a record of every piece in every mould and Ken has the list!

Jeff posted 3 photos of figures on the Maison Militaire stand.

Ref: Post #80 of Jeff's thread under the Shows Section.

For those who had a chance to see these figures "up close and personal", any views and comments?

Any news of what is to come?

Thanks, Raymond.:)

hello martin,

a very warm welcome to the forum.

Thanks very much for your very first post on the forum with news about maison militaire.

So perhaps we may see "yesterday once more".....but in matte i fear.

Best wishes, raymond.

dear raymond:
Yes, i was advised a while back by paul herrmann of the toy soldier shoppe in wisconsin, usa that 100% of all future trophy sets post 2006 by maison militaire company will be in matte paint jobs. Sorry about that! Also, post 2006 "new" trophy production will be on a very limited basis with only a very small % of the old trophy line ever being reproduced by new owner.

Dear Gary,

I am quite resigned to Maison Militaire going matte.

Even if there are gloss figures produced in a small quantity, these will not have the touch of the Welsh Wizard.

Little Legion would be a good alternative if retired Trophy sets become too costly.

Thanks very much for the info.

Not sure that many of the older figures will come out that well in Matte.

Dear Raymond:

Ah yes, Little Legion also of Wales, UK is very good and of course has a connection with Trophy Miniatures via Mike Norris & his wife being former Trophy employees & painters back in circa 1990's.

Best regards, "Iron Brigade" - Gary

sorry to here about figures in matte only. trophy was meant for gloss. and gloss the way trophy does it. little legion is nice but some of their figures are just too shiny. especially the napoleonics. i bought a nice natel mounted figure from paul though that happened to have the same look as trophy as far as gloss goes. if mike makes more figures like that i could be a very determined little legion collector

Dear Friends,

I am a regural customer of Maison Militaire for the last ten years. You can be sure that Ken is a perfectionist and everything he's doing is welldone. He made for me a Trophy WW I bus, painted matt and weatherd and the result is a masterpiece. He also made a platoon of WW I British Infantry painted matt and the figures are great. Trophy figures have excellent detail, which allows excellent results when painted matt. I understand you about glossy figs. I have many too. But times are a' changing. Merry Christmas to all of you. Martin I am expecting news for the Evzon!!

Tom: I am new to this. I bought a WWI bus from Ken about a year ago. Nice piece but it was matte. I thought it would be glossy but didn't think to ask. Ken told me then he was going to produce Napoleonics and let the Dragoncrest figures be until he decides what to do. He can furnish glossy as well. The last time I checked, his website was still being revised. Tommy

Can't you put a gloss coat over the matte paint if that is what you want?
Mark

Tom: Enclosed is photo of bus. I think I ended up paying close to $600 with shipping. Ken takes plastic. Hope this helps. Tommy

Hello Thanasis,

Thanks very much for your comments.

I am sure that most manufacturers, if not all, are very mindful to move with the times or get left behind.

They, more than anyone else, must keep their eyes on the ball.

That said, I personally feel there is place for both matte and gloss.

To engage in a protracted debate on whether one is better than the other is a sheer exercise in futility.

Merry Christmas, Raymond.:)
