March London show (1 Viewer)

Tony
Many thanks for the update-completely understand the organisational musts- but your success will be guaranteed because every Toy Soldier Show in London has to be one of the greatest days out in the Capital. Looking forward to it.

Rob
See you there mate! I'll stand you a cup of coffee wont be able to afford any hard stuff as I've got a shopping list that would go round the Royal National twice!

From K&C i've ordered Lord Cardigan for my Charge and from Clive i've ordered Figarti's MK4.The rest i've got to choose on the day!

Rob

I've also got the Mk IV from Clive and the 222 from TM Terrain. The new buildings from JG Miniatures look good as does me buying the last couple of Russians for my Crimean war collection.

Hey Reb,

I do hope to pick up an ACW set or two,but i must confess when i get to the shows sometimes i fold like a cheap deck chair!.But i have a fall back ACW position,if i don't buy any this Saturday i'm going to start with the new Britains stuff as its released.

Trouble is Reb i get to the K&C WW2 stuff and i lose all perspective(and control of my credit card!)I BLAME TONY,MIKE AND BOB!!!:D

So will you be picking up a few FIW sets?

Rob

Guys

Amazing call last night...............At 5.20 i got a call from my good friend on here MCKENNA...........his wife is working this weekend in San Jose California and he thought he would be bored on his own in the house!! So guess what!

He arrives in London this morning and is over for the show!

No that takes things to the extreme with regard his Toy soldier tour this year!

He is also still coming over in June with his wife but this one he is flying in Thursday and leaving again on Sunday.

So there is another frogger coming from the states! i have told him that on the day of the show that the UK froggers will look out for him!!!! mind at 6ft 4 i dont think he needs much looking after!

Chris will no doubt do a great job with his report and you will see all videos on TOYSOLDIERTV.co.uk when it goes live on Tuesday! was going to do it Monday but that is April fools day and thought everybody would think i was joking!

Leaving for London in an hour so catch you later!! see you all in London that are coming

Tony

Just got back with my Normandy set :D
First time to a toy soldier show as well
Some great looking diorama building worth buying to ;)

Well finally back, and I've already pre-ordered enough stuff for the June and December shows. On to today's show...

It seemed pretty busy in both halls today, although numbers were down on December it seemed fairly busy for a March show.

Firstly onto K&C UK,

Firstly, I wanted to try and see in the flesh the new CW figures that were coming out in June and see if I could obtain any info on future releases. I've already pre-ordered a Dec release although I don't know what it is yet (?). The thin red line figures look excellent and hopefully when the next wave comes on line with flag bearers and a piper, the firing line will look awesome. The two new Russian cossack figures, look well done and I'm already planning to expand my diorama to accommodate the new and future figures that will be done for this line.

As always the K&C dioramas all look magnificent and I'm glad I live no where near a shop that I could simply pop into and buy one (or six). More to follow....

Once the K&C recce was over it was off to JG Miniatures, where I was particularly interested in the new Arnhem buildings. I usually make a stoppage here buying the odd tree, bush, building and debris and over the years have built up quite a collection. The Arnhem buildings were very well done and I hope to add to my two newely acquired sets and some Arnhem debris over the next couple of shows (K&C Crimean War allowing). If you haven't seen them in person it is well worth going to a show or stockist because no photo can do them justice.

Ever onwards and so on to Clive and Grey Goose, the dealer for Figarti, who is a very evil man and bullied me into buying the German Winter infantry set as well as the Pz IV. Before this show my favourite tank was my HB Winter Panther, but it now has a fellow partner in crime the Pz IV. The figures are good and are now starting to be on a par with K&C, with the vehicle itself being outstanding. Bring on a Firefly and Comet...... please. I do also like the Coastal Command B-17, but I have no where to put it. As for the e-boat, it would probably reside in a box, which would be a shame. If you haven't looked at Figarti before, take a look in person although I believe the PzIV and Inf set are nearly sold out. Thanks Clive for the tank.

Next stop was TM Terrain, dealers for just about everything else that hasn't been mentioned before. the first thing that hit you was the Hartenstein Hotel with CS figures around it. I had already pre-ordered the 222 and so got that with another set of JJD BOS Indians. I must admit I am very impressed with the quality of the new figures from CS, especially the vehicles and in particular my 222 (However, this was tempered by the fact that when I got home both the registration flaps on the back wheels has snapped off - although it looks like a clean snap and I'll superglue them once this report is done). I will certainly look at further vehicles by this company in the future and will hopefully buy the Marder (if any are left) next month. The men, not bad - I didn't really get a good comparison with an equivalent K&C para but the poses are action orientated (similar to Conte action poses in style) and if I hadn't had a large want list already they would probably be on it. Top marks to CS - you certainly impressed me with your new arnhem range.

JJD figures were there in strength - simply they're awfully good - buy them they're a must. I'm still awaiting a look at the first Brit unit for the 1812 series before I commit to another series of figures. At present BOS and the new civvies and stockade is what I'm collecting from this series.

Also there was a Patriot Nebelwerfer (sorry if spelt wrong), which also appeared pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately the curse of too many wants and so on stopped me from acquiring this set.

Another newcomer to the UK show was Last Legion Napoleonic which again were of a good quality and in the same price range as K&C, not for me though but curious as to why they bring out a Bavarian regiment first. I would have fought a French Guard/Line regiment and a British Guard/Line regiment would have been a better choice. I'm probably wrong though....
