March London show (3 Viewers)

WELL WELL WELL...............phhhhhheeewww I LOOOVVVEEE the London show and thats as an organiser!!!

Lack of sleep, good drink........they now even stock Jim Beam because of me! get in! great people and great traders.

We get in on Thursday and to follow on from my earlier post it was very very sureal seeing Chris Mckenna stroll across the lobby....with a big HEY DUDE!

this guy is an awesome bloke and also a great collector to talk to with regard the product.

We downed a drink after our long drive avoiding as many of Robs booby traps as possible and then quickly changed.

we took Chris to Covent garden and had a great meal and a few drinks. Introduced him to Potted Shrimps and Bangers and mash!

We then walked up through Leicester Square, Picadilly and by which point Mum and dad were flagging. So they shot off in cab whilst myself, dispatch Dave and Chris walked on down to the Mall. we then took a left to tak in Trafalger Square before heading down white hall and eventually Houses of Parliment. Chris thought it was awesome. Walked along the embankment and looked at the great WWII Battle of Britain memorial a very very good brass to look at.

Friday was then up with the larks and a quick breakfast follwed by a day of playing soldiers. Chris enjoyed (i add we did not ask him to help he wanted to!!) setting up the figures.

Friday night we head to our normal Italian for the stomache liner before heading back to the hotel bar.

As Rob (UKREB)said nice to say hi and put a face to the name. And it was only a controlled few!

Early morning in London 4.30am is fun! and thank god it was dry! we headed out and put the banners up and then round the streets putting the signs up.

a very very quick breakie and then the early birds start............. always a good chat to be had with Rob (ROB) we always manage to put the worlds to right!

helped him distroy his buying plan within 20secs!

Did glimpse UKREB woundering around but always to far to shout. Had a nice chat with UKBOD (Andy) with regards the crimean and thanks for the pisture on here Andy.

Met John O'Brien from Perth in Australia who thought the show was amazing. Was excellent to meet guys from the other side of the world who collect. Meta couple of Candians as well.

A lot of traders said a very good day and better than last March and what was areally really cool was we had some great feedback about a lot of new customers.

There were i agree a lot of new faces and even better was to see a lot of kids with their dads.

Andy Neilson had sent over a MG figure for a great kid called John (see K&C UK videos from December) it was signed and dated. Johns eyes nearly popped out of his head when i gave him the figure he was blown away. There is another collector! for good

ALL IN ALL a great show and getting busier and better each time

Just back from London and cannot add much from what UKBOD and Rob have already posted.
Drove over to the Royal National Friday night for a couple of jars with Mark and David from TMTerrain-thanks guys enjoyed our chat- also met Tony there holding court and sinking "just a few".
Got to the show about 10-30-the lady who sold me the tickets told me I was the first to ask for a tree-frog identification badge????. Got to admit I was there for at least a couple of hours and never saw another frogger or one wearing a badge. Rob I did see the back of you leaving Entrance A-gave you a shout as at the time I was negotiating with a dealer for a couple of sets for Kilted Vamp-never saw you again after that and I did look in both Halls . But you was lugging a pretty large bag :D

Bought a few Conte/Frontline sets and a couple of John Jenkins, had a long chat with John Gittens from JG Miniatures but the high-light of the show was indeed David's Arnhem Hotel an absolute knock-out.
I'm sorry too Rob we didn't get that chat but there's always June :D

Reb

Brett, my local K & C supplier, reckons we should get together a group from downunder to visit a big UK and or US show. But first get some T-shirts printed up with 'I'm not Ozdigger' on them. Why are people so unkind :D

:D Will definetly catch up with you in June mate.Sorry i didn't hear you shout Reb, the result of far too many Status Quo and AC/DC concerts as a youth i'm afraid!;)

Was a good show though wasn't it,i had to lug those bags right across London to meet up with the wife,it was worth it though!

Hey dudes:

London on a whim was unreal and I think my head is still in some Atlantic time zone some where. Thought everyone would enjoy some more pics of the show, a full toy soldier traveler report to follow soon. I wish everyone could check out this show because it is well worth it and much different(dare I say better?) then Chicago. I apologize in advance on the quality of the pictures as I had to go to a backup camera due to the battery failing in my good one. I guess thats the price you pay when you pack your bags 3 hours before your flight out. Full report to follow soon, hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Was a great show indeed Tony.Really good to catch up with all the guys and Gals at K&C UK,its always such a laugh that after about an hour i suddenly remember i'm here to spend money!:D.I must have left my brain at home though,i walked away from Figarti leaving Clive my credit card and then Tony had to call me back for my jacket. When i told my wife she said 'Ah you get over excited don't you love, remember you are only 8yrs old'!:D

Brett, my local K & C supplier, reckons we should get together a group from downunder to visit a big UK and or US show. But first get some T-shirts printed up with 'I'm not Ozdigger' on them. Why are people so unkind :D

Why not do both a U.S. and UK event next March? The New York Toy Soldier Symposium followed by the March London Show could be big fun . . . and at least at the Symposium, the "I'm not Ozdigger" t-shirts would not be required . . .:D

Wonderful idea,i'll start saving now.I can sell it to my wife with the line 'Darling you'll get to go shopping in New York and London'!!;)
