Last year I was approached by fellow member and asked if I could do a job for him to restore a set of figures he'd recently acquired. He said they looked like a 'load of junk' but underneath there could be some gems, going on the paintwork.
They arrived in May and my first task was to sort out what way there and could they be rescued.
The figures were mostly HMofGB and consisted of people, tables and goods for sale.

I sorted them into similar types, children, ladies, women(*), men, tables, boxes and goods.
Note* that the ladies were the buyers, and the women were the sellers.
Similar to the Army in the 1800's .... Officers had ladies, Sergeants had wives, and the other ranks had their women !!!!

Pictures attached show them as they arrived .....

More to follow ...

After about 3 months of work, not full time, just a day or so every couple of weeks, the group was finished and posed on a diorama base I made last year.

More closeups and soon they be heading off to start their new life in a market place in the New World :)

Hope you like my restoration and remember that someone's junk could be another's gem under all that bad paint

As per your standard, very nicely done John.

John,

I wish I had your talent! Great job in restoring these. They're going to make someone very happy once they see them in person.

Thanks for sharing.

As always, thank you again. It was a project. When these were received from New Zealand originally, I think my blood pressure took a rocket to the moon. I literally put them in a pile and let them sit out of sight out of mind for about 9 months. Your talent shines here is more ways than one for sure. Not only to sort, fix and prepare, but the final product is astounding.

Thank you
Tom

Tom,

thanks for your kind words about the restoration I have achieved. It was quite a challenge, but I really enjoyed this project, so colourful it was a huge change from my usual soldiers. I wanted to make something that will be cherished and bring joy to the collector. Should be with you in a week or so ...

John,

You certainly excelled in creating a great scene through your masterful painting. The produce would have been challenging.

Very nice project , great paint finish as usual.
Love such refurbishment on old figurines.
