Matte to Glossy (1 Viewer)

Hi Konrad,

The more I view your "matte to gloss" figures, the more I am impressed! While I know many, many collectors enjoy the matte or realistic finish, I think the addition of the gloss coat to the finely crafted matte figures brings out the details to the finest advantage. Please continue to post photos of your remarkable work. I am enjoying them very, very much!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi everyone,
I am still on the "Thin Red Line" and got 8 more figures glossed this weekend.
Worth to mention are the three pipers, which as of the print below their bases, originally were K&C 8th Army pipers.
Somebody did some nice conversion work with them, and believe me, although I don't know who did that, I sure appreciate them supporting the troops :smile2:
Here are three pics, first one of the eight figures I could add to my line today, and the other two of the pipers only.

While the Line is growing, here are two more pics of the total, accumulated so far.
Lots more in the pipeline to add, and later on this year I hope to have the entire Line displayed on a nice wooden base with an engraved brass plate.

Back to WWI this time around.
Here we have the King & Country set "Auf Wiedersehen".
The first picture shows the original matte finish and the following are different views of the set converted to a gloss finish.

Looks really nice, Konrad. I am always impressed at how much nicer the gloss makes the matte figures look. It brings out the details to a higher degree. -- Al

That's the way I see it, Al.
Beside that I like the gloss finish better in general, some details are more prominent.

Here's another one I did this weekend and it is the "Good Bye" set by King & Country.
Again, the first pic shows the original matte finish and the following are some views of the gloss version.

"What can't speak - can't lie", eh Konrad?

Love your latest pictures - which show (once again) just how nice some of these matte products look with a Gloss finish.

Well done - keep up the good work - and show us Glossy lovers some more...........................jb:D

Thanks guys, Jeff, Martyn and Johnny :smile2:
Nothing beats the smell of a good gloss varnish, Jeff ^&grin
I would say, it's somewhere around 70 figures that I have glossed so far, Britains, John Jenkins and King & Country.

Here's one more set, that I just received last week via ebay.
"Simpson & his donkey" by Wilson Edwards.
A set that I am very glad to have now, not only because it is a great Toy Soldier Set, but it also serves to remember one very fine member of the Toy Soldier community, Craig Pearse, who so unexpectedly died at a rather young age some months ago.
The set came in a matte finish but here you see it converted to gloss.

Cheers!

Konrad

Due to the great offerings on the Treefrog Britains sale, I finally got my hands on a number of figures, that I was always somewhat interested in, but never decided to actually hit the "add to cart" button.
At the current sales price it was an offer I couldn't refuse :smile2:
The figures I am talking about are from the "Jane Austen" series, civilian figures from the Napoleonic era.

The two pictures below show the first three figures that I have converted to my favorite finish, along with a Black Watch drummer, which I added to my order from the regular priced inventory.

In the first years of the 19th century, a gentleman and his two daughters get into a talk with the drummer of a Black Watch, 42nd Highlanders recruiting party.

Happy Collecting!

Konrad

Hi Konrad,

Excellent new additions to your collection! I have grown to love the gloss finish you apply to the figures. As a result of the gloss, the figures "sparkle" with life and glow with charm.

My compliments on a great choice of new figures and on the bright new finish they now possess!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks to forum member "builtrite" I got the early WWI French troops by Britains now complete.
Here are some pics how they look in their new finish.
