Hi all - found this "He remains in a stable condition Auckland City Hospital following surgery.

It is believed Mr Martin was stabbed through the nose. Another officer was believed to have been stabbed with a screwdriver."

Terrible news, Toddy is without doubt one of the forums top blokes, all the best wishes to him and his family. I will eagerly await his quick and full recovery as I enjoy his wit and banter on the forum.
Being a police officer is a dangerous job and one I would not want to do, brave men and women they all are and the better we are for their service. Toddy mate we are all thinking of you.

I can hardly believe this, I have never met Toddy or even spoke to him on the phone but I consider him a mate as well as an all round top bloke. He is an absolute gem on this forum and my best wishes go to him and his family. I agree with many posts that it's a dangerous profession serving in front line law enforcement and even more so when I read that our Kiwi brothers do it without the protection of a sidearm. Toddy mate, if you read this, I hope you pull through and make a full recovery and we see you back on the forum real soon.

First and foremost, get well soon Toddy! The criminal hopefully will receive the full extent of punishment and then some. These types of people should be summarily executed, they are a complete waste to society and have no place in it. I am sick and tired of hearing the word rehabilitation, that is pure horse puckey.

Hi PA, see my post below. The only thing I know is that he has been discharged from hospital and is now home but he had to endure several hours of surgery. He is swollen and sore but ok.
