Mlb 2022 (2 Viewers)

I know no one watches them but Sammy and I, but the spunky O's have moved to within 5 games of .500 after winning 10 of their last 14 games. Led by the 'M' brigade, (Mancini, Mullins, Mateo, Mountcastle, and McKenna), with other good players such as Santander, Hays, Odor, and new rookie Rutschman, the O's rebuild is starting to show dividends. And with a pitching staff with a 4.10 ERA, they are competitive on the mound as well as at bat. Their closer, Jorge Lopez, has 13 saves with a WHIP of 0.81 and an ERA of 0.75, and has become much sought after in trade talks. Anyway, things are looking up for the O's and it fun watching them again. -- Al

Congrats to the Astros, they used 3 pitchers who tossed a combined no hitter today vs the Gashouse Gorillas............yanking a guy throwing a no no, glad it worked out, but that's sort of unusual.

Good job by Houston taking 2 of 3 so far, lost a heartbreaker on Thursday or else they'd be going for a sweep tomorrow.

Gotta give that organization credit, they keep losing key players but chug along, been a very good team for a long time.

Javier was up to 115 pitches after he finished the 7th today...
he had to come out...

that first game was a heart breaker...
6-3 in the top of the 9th...
Pressley couldn't throw a strike...
walked the first 2 and then Hicks home run tied it up...that ball may not have landed yet...tie game...
threw Stanek in there and he couldn't stop them either...heartbreaker for Astro's fans...

early game tomorrow...would like to take 3...but guess Yankees will be mad about the no hitter...

115 pitches; wow, that explains it, he was maxed out, but they threw a no no anyway.

Good for them.

Bad news for Bryce Harper and the Phillies as Harper was hit by a Blake Snell pitch that broke Harper's left thumb. He is out indefinitely and, I believe, takes the Phillies chances with him. Tough luck for Harper who was putting up MVP-like numbers again and had fueled the Phillies streak back to contention. -- Al

Good grief. Twice in the same series. Judge is a beast. Load the bases and take your chances rather than pitch to him. Astros could have swept, but have to settle for a split. Some great baseball played in this series. -- Al

The O's have been playing so well that they actually clinched their first winning month this June since they last did it in August 2017. Some fans complain that their team hasn't won a WS in a while but O's fans celebrate a winning month for the first time in almost 5 seasons. Baby steps... -- Al

Fun with numbers and this almost never happens...I like to check run differential stats and compare them to a teams placement within it's division. Today, of the 6 divisions in MLB, every division but one lines up perfectly, ie., each team from top to bottom within their division, has the run differential that explains their place within the division. The one division that doesn't line up is the NL Central. It is not unusual for one or two divisions to line up correctly from day to day but 5 of 6 is really odd. Not really important but interesting. -- Al

Freeman is a strange guy. I don't mean that in a bad way but his blubbering on returning to Atlanta was odd. It was so weird that Clayton Kershaw made some comments about him maybe using some of that emotion with his current team. He has been hit and miss with LA. The Dodgers should be a whole lot better than they have been so far with that roster.

I was stunned when Freeman went to LA. All I could think was that LA had just guaranteed themselves the WS title. Things haven't been quite that easy as baseball always seems to spring a variety of challenges for any favorite. That's why they play the games, but it is still tough to pick against LA in the NL. -- Al

Hi Al, I've been quiet on the Baseball page as I'm afraid to jinx the O's!!🤣🤣 it's been a fun Spring and Summer so far to actually being interested in score updates and watching when I can, usually I give up by late May!! I forgot how much fun it is to win or at least compete in Series, how long it last?? Not sure, but it be awesome to be at 500 come the All Star break!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

In the last three games with the Mets, the Astros have shown they are in a different class, or perhaps the lack of Scherzer and Jake is finally showing.

The Red Sox are almost finished with June at 20-6 and they will lose ground in the standings to the Yankees.

Yep. It is incredible, but the NYY's went 22-5 in June (with today's game still to be played). Tough to go 20-6 and lose ground. This rivalry will be addressed in the next 17 games running up to the All-Star break as the Sox and Yanks play each other 7 times. Truth is though, even if NY were to collapse and play .500 ball the rest of the season, they still finish with 99 wins. Jeesh. -- Al

Lest we forget the sacrifices of professional athletes, today is Bobby Bonilla Day. Bonilla last played for the Mets in 1999! LOL.

ESPN:
The calendar has turned to July 1, and that means one thing: It's time for Mets fans everywhere to wish each other a Happy Bobby Bonilla Day! Why? On Friday, 59-year-old Bobby Bonilla will collect a check for $1,193,248.20 from the
New York Mets, as he has and will every July 1 from 2011 through 2035.
