Mlb 2022 (3 Viewers)

Lest we forget the sacrifices of professional athletes, today is Bobby Bonilla Day. Bonilla last played for the Mets in 1999! LOL.

ESPN:
The calendar has turned to July 1, and that means one thing: It's time for Mets fans everywhere to wish each other a Happy Bobby Bonilla Day! Why? On Friday, 59-year-old Bobby Bonilla will collect a check for $1,193,248.20 from the
New York Mets, as he has and will every July 1 from 2011 through 2035.
A true MLB landmark. My favorite holiday. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Maybe we can coax Brad (Jazzeum) back since he used to defend the Mets on this! I didn't follow all the background but somehow even Bernie Madoff was involved in the Mets ownership's decision to defer the buyout. Quite a tale.

Even Mets owner Steve Cohen today tweeted Happy Bobby Bonilla Day.

In a sign of the times, a guy who has been selling peanuts at Dodgers games since 1962 and is noted for his famous peanut bags tosses to fans has been instructed that he can no longer throw the peanuts to fans. Apparently, they are concerned with liability. My spidey senses tells me there is a lawyer at the bottom of this dark tale.

I hate the Dodgers.

Cody Bellinger has one of the most beautiful swings ever.

I love baseball.

Trout strike out 9 times in 11 ab over the 3 games.

I’d run my mouth about how the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees are all make-up the top 3 payrolls in MLB.

Then again when the Giants won their recent championships they were always in the top 10 payrolls.

It is a rich man’s game.

The Yankees look unstoppable this year. What a division AL East is.

doubt they can catch them...
but the Red Sox have made up a ton of ground through June...
I think I heard an announcer say they were 20-6 last month...

The Twins and Brewers so far have done well this year with a below average payroll...

Sox made up a ton of ground on everyone BUT the NYY's as the Yanks went 22-6 in June. Tough to win games at an almost .800 clip and still lose ground but that's what the story is so far in the AL East. Jeesh. -- Al

Al...you're right...Yankees are hitting on all gears...pitching...fielding...and hitting especially...
Judge is averaging a home run every 10 times at bat...Alvarez is too...
but has about 50 fewer at bats as he is mostly used as a DH and has had some injuries missing several games...
both are so powerful...but still...the Yankees seem to be in a league all their own...

What the heck is wrong with Trout? He went 0-26 earlier this year which all ballplayers go through slumps in their career but Trout is now 0-13 with 12 strikeouts including 2 tonight so far in the last 4 games.

lost his mojo...needs to get his groove back...got a funk cloud over his head...thinking too much...got a bad case of the "yips"...

all those things...:smile2:

The Nationals are simply awful. Can't get out of their own way and are especially bad against the NL East. With last nights massacre loss of 11-0 against the Phils, The Nats are now a combined 6-29 against the East teams, (1-12 vs Miami, 2-8 vs Mets, 1-5 vs Phils, and 2-4 vs Braves). Wow. Pretty impressive for a team that won the WS just 3 seasons ago. -- Al
