Mlb 2022 (5 Viewers)

The Dodgers with their enormous payroll and team of all stars just lost 5 of 6 to the Pirates including getting swept at home. I can't name a single player on the Pirates team.

Mets and Dodgers start a 4 game series tonight...
Dodgers need to win at least 3 of 4 to regain best record in the National...
should be a great series to watch...

also...
Celtics/Warriors playoff starts tonight...
as Astros have a day off...
can't decide which to watch...
both should be good watches...

Well i can vouch that one of them was a good watch.............;)..........

I want video of that 7:37 17-0 run played on a loop at my wake.................:D

I watched that game...
I think the Warriors felt safe at the end of the 3rd...
in the 4th...there was a stretch where the Celts hit 6...maybe 7...3 pointers in a row...
unreal...
all net...no rim...

and that was on the road...
probably even play better at home...

I feel asleep at the end of the 3rd quarter confident that the Warriors had it in the bag. That's a crushing loss. The Celts never seem to let down. They just impose their will on the other team.

The Celtics for whatever reason come out game after game flat in the 3rd quarter............not sure why in the first quarter they kept backing off of Curry, leaving him wide open along the 3 point line, he was on fire in the 1st quarter. They played better defensively in the 2nd quarter, got more up into the Warriors faces, same for the 4th quarter, again, they came out flat in the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, the Warriors dared the Celtics role players White, Pritchard to hit 3's and they did, Smart and Al hit some big 3's too.

If you hit your open looks, you win..............can the Celtics role guys continue to shoot like that, we'll see. If not, Tatum and Brown need to take the ball to the basket.

Celtics are 8-2 in the playoffs on the road, won 3 of 4 vs the Heat on the road, 1-2 at home, they actually play better on the road.

Nice win last night, series is going to be a dogfight, we'll see how things shake out.

Not to hijack the MLB thread, but since there is somewhat of an NBA discussion going on here; last night was exhibit A as to why, at best, I'm a casual NBA fan.

Granted, the Celtics got their doors blown off in the second half, so it matters not.

But that said; so apparently, the NBA decided this series has to be 1-1, so let's send this ****show of a referee crew to do the game.

Tell you what; if that POS Draymond Green is going to get away with what he did last night, just crown the Warriors now and don't make me waste my ****ing time watching the remaining games.

He's an elite defender that's a complete NERD; he baits players into fouls time and time again (and yes, shame on them for falling for his nonsense), he hacks and grabs jerseys, plays like a pulling guard in the NFL and runs his mouth non stop. How many ****ing moving screens is he going to get away with.

Just a **** ton of horrible calls last night; reversing the technical when the Warrior on the floor grabbed White as he tried to get around him, Brown gets called for a foul when there was ZERO contact, the Warrior blew the lay up and then fell to the court to draw the foul, Smart got called for pushing a Warrior out of bounds when there was no push.

I lost count actually at all the ****ty calls and the non calls.

This league was, is and always will be a joke.

Nice that the Celtics stole a game in CA, it won't matter as I'm sticking to my prediction of Warriors in 6, when they are on, they are lights out, the Celtics do not have the shooters to match the Warriors, that team rains threes, half the ****ing guys I've never heard of, but there they are knocking down threes from all over the court.

The Warriors crapped themselves in game 1 for about 7:37 when the Celtics went on that 17-0 run; other than that, they've totally dominated this series, as they should, they are by far the better team.

It's hard to win a game when it's 5-8 though, that's for sure.

There won't be a game 7 and if by some miracle there is, I'm sure that ****astic crew from last night will draw the assignment just to make sure things work out the way the NBA wants it to.

The last clip is my favorite; he bowls over three Celtics like a pulling guard in the NFL; again, if the refs keep allowing him to get away with bullshit like this, then just crown the Warriors now.

It would have taken quite a few calls to change the outcome of that game! The Celts basically waved the white flag in the 3rd quarter. Satisfied to get one on the road. I doubt they expected to win both. That was a must win game for the Warriors. I really dislike the 2-3-2 format. That almost guarantees the series goes six as it's unlikely for any team to win the middle three games. So it will go back to Golden State at 2-3 and the Warriors will need to win both at home. Curry is an unbelievable shooter. Maybe the best to ever play the game. Only Reggie Miller and Larry Bird are in his league. Even Kobe and Jordan did not have his accuracy. They could do other things he can't but Curry is a pure shooter.

great game to watch...
yea...the Warriors got game 2...
but the Celts stole home court with one win there...
advantage Boston...

They no longer use the 2-3-2 format.

And yes, they got smoked in the second half and even that ****show of a referee performance wouldn't change that outcome.

Regardless, Draymond had a plan after they went down 0-1, he was going to raise his nonsensical bullshit to another level to annoy the Celtics.

And it worked.

Loved when he fouled Brown, fell on him and when Brown got torqued off, Green tried to pull his shorts down.

What a class act he is, not sure what is worse, his non stop whining or the cheap crap he pulls over and over.

I'll call it a push.

Find myself wondering why you all are even bothering to watch the crapshow that the NBA puts on. The Red Sox are hot, the Astros are playing great, Harper is putting up MVP numbers again and the Dodgers are looking like a WS team. Baseball is good, NBA bad. Why bother with B-ball at all? Bring Bird and Magic out of retirement and then we'll talk...:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Al...

I'm not missing any Astro games this year...not a one yet anyway...

but I do like the NBA playoffs...
I was a fair weather fan on the NBA this year...
if the Lakers are on...I really only watched them if it was a late West Coast game...

and yea...would love to relive the Bird/Magic era...
it's Showtime...lol...

Bad week for managers named Joe as the Phillies canned Girardi and the Angels canned Maddon. Been hard to watch the freefall of the Angels. Injuries and team chemistry strike again. -- Al

Mike, I know I'm crawling into the 'way-back machine' again but I used to love the NBA, back when such players as West, Baylor, Chamberlain, Bing, Robertson, Unseld, Havlicek, Jones, Russell, etc. played ball and were actually interesting and had class. I simply miss the old Celtics, Knicks, Bullets, Lakers, Warriors, and such. I simply despise what the NBA became a couple of decades ago and haven't watched a game since Bird and Magic retired. Man, I miss the 60's and 70's and not just from the NBA standpoint as I also miss what baseball and football were in those decades. OK, senior relapse done...^&grin -- Al

Al...I couldn't agree with you more...I miss the old days...all my heroes are gone...lol...the Lakers/Celtics rivalry is long past...

again...I am a fair weather fan...when one of my favorite teams is in the playoffs...I find the NBA very watchable...when they don't even make the playoffs...I'm not so interested...the Lakers...Spurs...Celts...Rockets and Bulls were always fun to watch...

it was a different game then...more athletic in my opinion...more physical with still with more finesse...passing the ball...driving through the paint...dunks...lob dunks...blocked shots...steals...

now...it's more 3 point oriented...which is fine really...you do what you're good at to win...it's all fair...

a lot of people that post on the NBA on here...year after year say the NBA is dead...nobody watches it...so they say...

but when their team is in the playoffs...they not only watch it...but seem to notice anything and everything...

so this is the stigma of the NBA...and both NFL and MLB to some degree...

if your team is in the playoffs...if you're having a good year...tune fans will tune in...

this new breed of players...don't even get me started...basketball is all I want to hear from them...not their political or social opinions...

Maddon got fired? Hadn't seen that yet, but during this past weekend's Angels-Phillies series, I thought that if anyone deserved to get fired, it was Maddon.

Girardi's dismissal wasn't a surprise, except for the timing. I don't agree with the average callers to WIP, who have been calling for his head for a month. I did disagree with the way he handled pitchers during games, especially the bullpen. But the Phillies' pen is abysmal, even with the change in skippers.

I said this, and I heard others say it, that Dombrowski should have been fired, and I'll add Fuld, Werthan, and Mattingly (Preston). But it's part of baseball that it's the manager who pays the price.

And in typical Philly Phan Phashion, no one talks about the fact that they should have lost on Sunday, but won by sheer luck. Relying on sheer luck is not a strategy to make it to the postseason.

Prost!
Brad

I'm a fair weather fan as well, I watch when the Celtics are in it; if not, I'm not interested.

As you and Al have said, the game has changed a great deal; bring the ball up, set a screen, pass it to the open guy, 3 point shot, rinse, lather, repeat.

What is and what is not a foul is beyond my grasp, it's too random, whichever way the wind is blowing.

I don't know most of the names anymore, it's casual entertainment at best at this point, we have a group that gets together for sports, we watch, have adult beverages and snacks, a million laughs and that's that.

coaches and players aren't worried about entertaining Mike Miller...
you do what gives you a win...

and if 100 shots from the 3-point line is your game...
well...that's definitely within the confines of the rules...
so you do whatever it takes to win...

the Pats ran the ball 46 times in a game last year that had 40+ mph gusts...
boring?
yea...maybe...
but they won the game...
and it's all legal...
there was no cheating or breaking the rules...

the pass happy fans might not like it...
again...boring...
but a win is a win...
and the fans do like that...

Basketball, like football, has changed quite a bit the past 20 plus years.

As you stated, everyone plays within the rules, the game has changed, but not for the better.

I too enjoyed those Celtics/Lakers games, the Lakers were the better team twice of the three meetings and they were really, really fun to watch, "showtime", the fast break, that was exciting, Magic was a showman, a true ambassador for the game.

Dribbling the ball up to the three point line and raining threes is not my idea of being an ambassador for the game, nor the non stop flopping and whining for or about calls, all teams do it, it gets annoying, players in the 70's and 80's didn't constantly whine.

I'm really not a fan of the whole concept.

And it's going to be the Warriors in 6, maybe 5.................if they win tonight, it will be in 5, if not, then 6, 7 on a push.

There is no way, no how they will lose a game 7 at home, Green will commit two homicides on the court to prevent that from happening.
