Injuries aside the WBC has must been must see TV.

Last night’s Japan vs. Mexico game was one of the best games I have ever seen.

I agree, great game to watch. The injuries have been most unfortunate, but they happen every season to all teams and seem unavoidable regardless of it being a game injury or practice injury. -- Al

I have a feeling that MLB teams won't want their best players going to the 2026 WBC because of injuries this year. Lets hear a big shout for the Mexican team as they played very well last night and through the whole classic. I think tonight will be must watch tv.

There’s little that teams can do and it’s wildly popular with the players, many of whom think a WBC championship is more important than a World Series title.

The last at-bat in the WBC, Ohtani vs. Trout, was epic.

Ohtani struck out Trout swinging. Pretty simple besides the fact that they are teammates in pro baseball until you consider the fact that Trout’s 3 strikes all came on swings.

In 6,174 MLB plate appearances, only 24 times has Trout swung and missed at three pitches. That’s 0.39% of his plate appearances.

Overall I think the WBC was a big win for baseball. I hate having to wait for 3 years for it to be played again.I hope I'm still around.{eek3}

I am usually against big free agent signings but after watching Ohtani play in the WBC I hope the Giants sign him no matter what the cost.

50 MM may be the number. I expect him to stay on the WC, possibly with the Dodgers although I could see the Mariners as a wild card. If he doesn’t limit himself to the WC, expect Mets to be players.

Play ball! Ready for Opening Day, at long last, and will be set for the Nats v Braves at 1pm and the O's v Red Sox a little later. Going to be an interesting season, settling in with the new rules. Don't expect much out of the Nats, under 100 losses hopefully, but I expect bigger things from the O's, possibly the playoffs, though this is a small reach. Now, must get my popcorn and remote, lock my door, turn off the phone and enjoy the greatest game in my world. -- Al

I think it may be tough for the Os, not that they’re not better, but because the competition is very tough with the Yankees, Jays and Rays.

I will be disappointed if the Mets don’t make the playoffs and at least win a series. There’s no telling how losing the best closer in baseball will affect them but it could be an adventure.

Yesterday’s Mets Marlin game was over in 2:09.
Opening Day games for the Nats and the O's were both a few minutes over 3 hours. Without the clock, I'm sure both games would have been over 3 1/2 hours. I like the clock, so far. Not so sure about the throw over to first base limitation, but I also like the ban on the shift. -- Al

Rockies sporting the best record in MLB. All by themselves at 2-0. Whoda thunk it??!

Well, you don't see this everyday. O's had the game won with a routine fly ball out to O's LF for the final out, but he dropped it, giving the Red Sox life. Next batter jacked the ball out to give the Sox a 1-run win. What should have been a 2-0 start for the O's, drops to a rather rude 1-1. Next. {eek3} -- Al

Not as bad as my Phillies as they have been destroyed by Texas. With Harper and Hoskins out for the better part of the year and not a great pitching staff it's going to be a long season.{eek3}

ESPN etc. jump the gun on irrelevant early season numbers in baseball. They should not emphasize any accomplishments until at least 20 games into what is the longest season among the 4 major sports in North America.

Dude. Of course. It’s still absurdly early in the season. See the Braves two years ago. Terrible first half, then World Series winners.
