Not as bad as my Phillies as they have been destroyed by Texas. With Harper and Hoskins out for the better part of the year and not a great pitching staff it's going to be a long season.{eek3}

What's wrong with Harper now? What did I miss?

i think conceding 27 runs in 2 games is a little more than destroyed .Dont think 2 players would make that much difference . Roll on game 3 tonight and get the brush ready . :p

He tore a ligament in his elbow last year and had surgery on it. They originally said he would be out up to the all star game but hope he will be back before then so they put him on 10 day DL Thursday instead of the 60 day. Hoskins is on 60 day but may miss season after tearing ACL last Thursday.

Thanks for the update, hadn't heard about his injury/surgery.

Nats got a good win against Atlanta today, but still struggling offensively as they scored all the runs in the 1st inning before the Braves starter settled in. At least the Nats pitching was decent today. O's scored 23 runs in the 3 games in Boston but got only 1 win as the O's pitching seems MIA, yielding 9 runs in EACH game. Won't win many giving up a run per inning average. O's pitchers are better than this so hopefully they get back on track next series. -- Al

I think the Phillies are in for a rough year.

It’s early and they are picked to contend. Obviously losing Hoskins hurt but Harper is scheduled to start hitting this Thursday.

I know we are only 3 games in, but I really like how the pitch clock has sped up the game. I find the new sub-3 hour game much more fun to watch. And I like that the shift ban appears to be doing what it was supposed to do for hitters. So far, so good. -- Al

Lost to Yankees tonight 8-1. 0-4 now. Oh well 158-4 record won't be bad.^&grin

As a Texan I follow the Rangers and it is great to see Bruce Bochy back as their manager.

But…….

I wouldn’t predict my team’s future success based on how well they do against Texas this early in the season.

Well the Phillies finally won one, the last team to do so in this young season. Only 157 games to go.^&grin

Good to see the O's pitching can still do it's job. After getting torched in Boston for 27 runs in 3 games, the O's have only allowed hard hitting Texas 2 runs in the first 2 games of the current series, going 2-0. On the other hand, 'Cement-head' Martinez, the Nats manager, still can't manage his way out of a wet paper bag as he allowed a reliever to throw tonight's game away, replacing him only after he allowed 3 hr's and 5 total runs in 1/3 of the 9th inning. One would have thought the first 2 solo homers might have been a clue, but ol' Cement-head had to wait for the 3-run homer to take the hint. Martinez needs to go... -- Al

So at the Red Sox game last night, a Red Sox player hit his first MLB homerun, a big milestone, like the first hit where the ball is retrieved.

This one landed up on the green monster, some 10 year old kid got it................the Red Sox tried to negotiate with the family for the ball; autographed bat, autographed ball, red sox hats and jackets for the whole family, plus a red sox shirt for the kid, plus free tickets with a parking pass for a future game.

The kid and his family said no.

They kept the ball.

And here's the rub; a pirates fan actually caught the ball, but he GAVE it to the kid as a nice gesture, the guy pleaded with the family to give the ball up, they said no.

That's some great parenting on display right there; just another example of our world going to ****.

Winning streak is over.

Mets are having a bad week too. Scherzer is starting to look his age. Pitchers were drubbed for 26 runs in three games offense scored six runs (all in one game).

Going into today's game, the Rays are 11-0, they are a top shelf organization that does a tremendous job of drafting top shelf players, developing them into MLB talent, then trading/ not signing them, they are a great talent feeder for the rest of MLB.

And they have as many championships as I do.

Except for the Rays there doesn't seem to be any world beaters this year.

ant to see another one; look to your north............Francy Cordero, the guy the Red Sox got from the Royals in the Benintendi trade; all I heard was "He has the raw ability, just needs to put it all together".......................he was up and down from the minors pretty much the entire time he was here, tore the cover off at the AAA level, couldn't hit his weight at the MLB level, so the Red Sox give up on him, the LET'S GO O'S!! signed him, he looked great in spring training and for some foolish reason, they let him go, he signs a minor league deal with the Yankees, makes the roster and so far, has 3 HR'S and 10 RBI's...........I think that matched his total output with the Red Sox in three years.

It always astounds me how complete stiffs end up on the gashouse gorillas and suddenly "find themselves"................

Having fun watching the O's second year catcher, Adley Rutschman, play his 'hair on fire' brand of ball. The kid is cool under fire. After hitting his 1st career walk-off Hr the other night, he came up with the bases loaded in the 7th, with 2 out and the O's down 3-1. Got down 0-2 then slaughtered a fastball to the gap, clearing the bases, giving the O's what would be the go ahead and winning runs in a 6-3 win over the ChiSox. He will cool off for sure and the league will adjust, but right now he is hitting .377 with an OBP of .492, has 4 Hr's and 12 RBI's in the O's 14 games. I will enjoy the ride while it lasts. Meanwhile, the Nats can't score and their bullpen keeps losing leads and games. Long season shaping up in DC. -- Al
