How tough is the AL East? The O's remarkable 20-9 record gets them 1st place in every division in MLB, except the AL East, where they are in 2nd place, 3.5 games back of the red hot Rays. -- Al

Phillies pitching is the pits. 2 straight 13 run losses.{eek3} Bryce Harper is back, had a rough night, 3 strikeouts in 4 at bats. Gonna be a long season.:rolleyes2:

O's lost 6-0 against the Royals tonight, the first time they have been shutout this season. Game time was 1:59, the fastest O's game since 1985. Sure liking the pitch clock and resulting faster pace games. -- Al

Phils pitching was better last night, gave up only 10 RUNS!{eek3}

At least Harper found his stroke pretty fast after the long layoff. Maybe he can provide a spark for the Phillies, but the pitching must come around or 10 Harpers won't help. -- Al

Scherzer was a little better. He only gave up six. He hasn’t pitched well since last year. Probably done. Mets SP is not very good, with no help in sight.

Mad Max may be done, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it, yet. His 2021 and 2022 years were good, with good winning percentages and the 2 lowest ERA's of his career. The fall off for 2023 is extremely sudden, off a cliff, as it were. Might be a physical problem or could be age, but if age, it is just so sudden as to be puzzling. Maybe, at almost age 39, he just hasn't gotten untracked yet. It is possible there is some residual problem connected to last seasons injury. Anyway, Max is a competitor and I believe he will come around. -- Al

Nats won with a walk off Hr against the Cubs today, 4-3. Game took only 1:55 to play. Nats are proving to be decently competitive and are 5-6 in 1-run games. -- Al

He hasn’t been good since the last Atlanta series when the division was on the line. In his next start against the Padres in the WC round he was terrible and booed off the mound. This year has been more of the same. He’s cooked.

Good news is that Phillies didn't lose last night. Of course they didn't play either. ^&grin:rolleyes2:

Matt Harvey, the Dark Knight, of Mets fame and a former Oriole in 2021 and 2022, has announced his retirement. Hoped to have seen him back with the O's but he wasn't resigned after the 2022 season. -- Al

To those of us of a certain age (aka, geezers) who remember Vida Blue, LHP of the Oakland A's, he has passed away at age 73. He was a 3x WS champion, a 6x All-Star, a Cy Young winner. Man, he could throw hard. RIP, Mr. Blue. -- Al

A great one.

I think the Orioles are in the very good column but after the last 3 games not sure they can beat the #1 teams, the series loss to Atlanta hurt big time as they were in every game to the last out, and then another good pitching outing by Grayson is blown last night in a 3-0 loss to the first place Rays, losing ground quickly and really need the bats to wake up and try and win this series against the Rays.

Good grief. Was looking at stats this AM and saw that the Athletics have a team ERA of 7.13. My question is, how did they manage to win the 10 games they have won with an ERA like that? Can't remember seeing a team ERA this high, this far into the season. -- Al

Keeping an eye on Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano, who is having a remarkable season, so far. The big right hander has pitched in 17 games, with 21.2 innings pitched. He has allowed 0 runs and only 4 hits. He has walked 0 batters, while fanning 25. His WHIP is 0.18 to go with 3 save, 8 holds, and 1 win. How long can it last? -- Al

How long can it last? Well, thanks to my jinxing him, the run is over. He was scored on tonight. I should have known better...{sm2} -- Al
