It’s been a fun ride so far for a year that was supposed to be a transitional year. I don’t know what’s going to develop going forward but whatever happens it’s been a successful year. The Mets are going to be THAT team this year aren't they?
Win game one of a double header thanks to a late inning comeback just to get into the playoffs; check.
Down 2-0 in the ninth inning of a close out game and they pull the game out thanks to a blown save and advance; check.
Up 1-0 on the Phillies, who BTW are 0-7 in series after being down 0-1, the Phillies starter pitches his ass off, yet they still lose; check.
Yup; they are lining up to be THAT team this year.
That's just swell.
Imagine a repeat of the 2000 subway WS; can't wait............................
I hate to say this but I think you are right. We need a Pete Rose again! The Mets are going to be THAT team this year aren't they?

Yes I know that Brad. It's a little late anyway. The ballplayers don’t decide these things so what they or may not think is irrelevant. He’s on the ineligible list and until that changes he can’t be considered for the hall.
I think part of it is that they throw a lot even before they get to college or pro ball. It takes its toll.Is it me or does it seem like a lot of pitchers seem to be getting hurt a lot anymore. The oldtimers seem to be able to pitch, pitch, and pitch ,complete games at that. Mark "The Bird" Fidrych didn't last long in the majors but in 56 games started he completed 34. Nolan Ryan had 222, Bob Gibson 255, Juan Marichal 244 and these guys would be considered playing in modern times. Is it because of the advancement in medicine where they might be able to detect a injury where before they couldn't. I can't believe Juan Marichal never won a Cy Young award.

My understanding is that kids have all these leagues they play in and their arms are not really ready for all the pitches they have to throw, plus once they get to pro ball they are treated like highly prized assets. In addition, they are expected to throw harder and harder, which I don’t think is beneficial but, of course, I’m not a pitching maven. That may be but we played baseball morning, noon, and sometimes night when we were kids.

The 24 Mets could — and I emphasize “could” — be the Phillies of 2022. Come what may I’ve enjoyed this year immensely.I think the Phillies are done. The bats are in another of the slumps they experienced during the season. You don't win games with pitching alone, you need to score more runs than the other team. And they have Ranger Suarez going tonight. Everyone gushed about him in the first half of the season, as he put a streak of wins together. But which Suarez is showing up tonight-the first half Suarez or the second half Suarez? I'll happy if they win, force a Game 5, and win the series. But I'll be surprised if they do. I think the Phils are out of gas.
Prost!

I heard all that too Brad. We use to play for fun.My understanding is that kids have all these leagues they play in and their arms are not really ready for all the pitches they have to throw, plus once they get to pro ball they are treated like highly prized assets. As much as I have always loved the Phillies the Mets deserve it the way they played. Congrats to all the Mets and their fans. The 24 Mets could — and I emphasize “could” — be the Phillies of 2022. Come what may I’ve enjoyed this year immensely.
