As much as I have always loved the Phillies the Mets deserve it the way they played. Congrats to all the Mets and their fans.

I think the Phillies just ran into a hot team. Also, having a week off didn’t help.

Two series down, two to go.

Mark:

Classy post from a dedicated fan of his team.

I also wish Brad’s Mets the best as they move on.

I knew the Phils would lose, after the way they played in Game 1. Offense was in one of the periodic slumps they had during the season. You can't afford that in a best-of-5 series. And pitching alone can't win you a game-you need at least 1 more run than the other team. The bullpen also pitched the way it did in the second half. They did not play like a championship team.
Rooting now for the Dodgers to win the pennant.

Prost!
Brad

The Dodgers are stayin' alive. Unfortunately, none of those runs carries over to game 5. Now they can choke in front of the home fans.

I can root for the Padres, too, should they win. I hate the Mets. I hate the Yankees, too, and the Giants. I don't care about basketball, but if I did, I'd hate the Knicks, too.
Heck, I just plain don't like NYC.

Prost!

Too bad isn’t it. You’re just a second small city with an inferiority complex. Can’t beat the Mets, can’t beat the Knicks, can’t beat the Rangers and can’t beat the Giants or the Jets. All I can say is

There are only two Mets players in the entire history of that organization that I can name. Daryl Strawberry and Tom Seaver. I view the Mets as the Washington Generals to the Yankees Harlem Globetrotters. With that said, I would prefer to see the Mets beat the hated McDonald's Padres if it comes to it, but my level of interest would be zero.

The Mets had the best team in baseball for the last 100 games. The Phillies went 45-19 then 50-48. They were on track for 114 wins but ended up with 95.This team has regressed the last 3 years, I look/expect changes.

Sadly, it's not how you start, it's how you finish; just swell that teams get hot and ride that into the post season and waltz to a ALCS/NLCS, must be nice.

As the great Bill Parcells said "Just make the tournament" and the rest is what it is.

In today’s game the window closes fast which is why you need to take advantage of your opportunities when they present themselves. I’m not sure how many changes the Phillies need to make because they have a good pitching staff and several very good hitters.

The one thing I would have done differently is to have started Wheeler on three days rest. He was one of the best pitchers in the NL. He should have started game 4. Would the game have ended any differently? Who’s to know but not to have used him made no sense to me.

I agree with you on this.

Ironic that I touted the Dodgers as an offensive juggernaut, yet they won Game 7 of the NLDS via pitching.

As I have said since the start of the season LA is going to win the World Series.

The Dodgers are stayin' alive and I'm glad they are playing the Mets next instead of the Phillies. The Mets might be that team that gets hot in the playoffs and goes to the WS but the Phillies are the more difficult matchup. And playing in Philly is a nightmare. Should be a good series, though. The Dodgers have their flaws and although they won last night the bats were quiet.

While I think the Dodgers will win it all I hope that Brad’s Mets prove me wrong.

I have said it before so I will say it again, when the Giants were on their World Series runs over the last 10 years Brad was super supportive (along with George).

I hope the Mets win it all for Brad and all of Mets fans.

So in the NL, you've got top two teams in MLB in terms of spending in the NLCS, in the AL, you've got #3 in spending vs #28 in the ALCS.

I had to double check on that to make sure it was right; the Guardians are 28th? And they finished with the 2nd best record in MLB, I think 3rd overall.

That's pretty amazing.

Dodgers "legend" Manny Ramirez will throw out the first pitch tonight.

He's a Dodgers legend?

Ok then.

George:

Like you said a few years ago, small payroll teams like the A’s, Rays etc. make great storylines but they never win it all.

MLB is a rich man’s game since it does not have a salary cap.

Yes, it's shaping up to be Yankees vs Dodgers/Mets, Microsoft vs Facebook/TikTok.
