All the Dodgers have to do is win one game in New York; Bueller goes on Monday, then a bullpen game, not sure who goes in game 5.This series is the first time that I've seen the Yankees play this year. What jumps out to me is how weak their lineup is once you get beyond the Soto-Judge-Stanton trio. And Judge is in a major slump. The Dodgers have guys top to bottom who can hit. Any player in that lineup can win a game. Ohtani hasn't given them much so far, and they are still winning. This series is a long way from over, though. If Judge can get it going, the Yanks can win two or more games at home.
I hope this isn't where he goes Reggie and starts smacking them out of the park. The Dodgers are due for that game where they give up double digit runs in the first three innings. The Yanks also haven't had that unknown guy who gets hot in the playoffs and plays like Ted Williams. The Dodgers seem to run into that every year. If the Dodgers can get one in NY, I'll take that.Comedic gold.............
It's not just the WS; he's been invisible in the playoffs for several series now.I hope this isn't where he goes Reggie and starts smacking them out of the park. That's cool to hear- I said to my family after the cheering died down that someone is going to get PAID with that ball! I'd like to say it would more than cover his college costs BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT yeah college costs aint what they used to be!Some 10-year old kid apparently ended up with the Freeman grand slam ball. Good for him. It will likely pay for his college education if he wants to sell it someday. There is still some mystery about what happened to Kirk Gibson's ball. I saw a show several years ago where a guy claimed he caught it, but later gave it away to a girlfriend. Probably in an attic and they are none the wiser. They used to have a bus tour in Pittsburgh that stopped at the place where they had the Franco Harris miracle catch ball.
Yes, if he goes to USC he will need to catch two more. The tuition is over $60K per year. I would actually be afraid for my life to catch the ball in that crowd. They might tear you apart. The fans are still suing over the Ohtani 50th HR ball. That's cool to hear- I said to my family after the cheering died down that someone is going to get PAID with that ball! Hopefully today is YED, my second favorite holiday of the year outside of Christmas/December 25th.The Yanks have acted like a beaten team since the Freeman HR. Soto is the only guy who doesn't look like he is ready for the offseason. Other than game one, the series hasn't had much drama. The Ohtani vs Judge storyline went nowhere. They are something like 2-20. Roberts should consider letting Ohtani sit out the next game with his injury.
They were talking about Fernando the other night and mentioned that he went 8-0 to start to his rookie season and seven of those were complete games. Koufax once pitched over 370 innings in a season. For good or ill, those days are gone. Ironically there seem to be more injuries today with fewer innings pitched than in the old days. Those guys were tough. Smoking in the dugout and playing drunk.Hopefully today is YED, my second favorite holiday of the year outside of Christmas/December 25th.
Once again I don't get why Bueller was pulled last night, 5 innings, absolutely cruising along, why not let him go until he allows a base runner or two as today is a bullpen game for the Dodgers, he used several relievers last night, I'll never understand the logic, let him go until he starts to fade.
Agreed- in another vein they weren't warming up as much either as they did back in the day which a lot of studies are showing are more damaging to the arms than throwing 60 pitches in the bullpen. I called my son when they mentioned Sandy K throwing 370 inninngs and he was as shocked as I was. A common strategy now at the high school and college levels is to intentionally run pitch counts up. A lot of coaches use a metric called the "Quality at bat" where batters sit on pitches until they are at 2 strikes and then activate their bat swinging powers and swing. A QAB is achieved if a batter can notch 5 pitches per plate appearance. The idea is to exhaust a stud pitcher or two, get to the bullpen and then the actual game begins. That was on full display in 2017 with the Nationals winning the Series- no one was getting hits till around the 6th inning. They were talking about Fernando the other night and mentioned that he went 8-0 to start to his rookie season and seven of those were complete games. Judge has some eye popping post season numbers; ONE multi-hit game in his last 34 postseason games. In that span, he's had 15 hitless games and hit only ONE double. The Yanks have acted like a beaten team since the Freeman HR. Soto is the only guy who doesn't look like he is ready for the offseason.
