Most Unique Item in Your Collection (2 Viewers)

The Wm Hocker Turtle takes the cake. Tough to beat. Beautiful piece and love its base.

that is the most bizarre and unusual piece I have ever seen...I love it...as far as "unique" items...that's gonna be hard to beat...does that submarine have an octopus attached to the bottom...how creative...who thinks this stuff up...

Thanks Fort-Stamford and Mike. The octopus as a base is great. Bill Hocker has some really different and unusual sets on his website. Anyone else besides Wayne556517 have a unique figure? Please post a photo. Tommy

The K & C Connoisseur Wooden Warbird Me 109. Only two ever made.

DR. WATSON at the BATTLE OF MAIWAND - produced by TROPHY MINIATURES OF WALES

drwatsonmaiwandBOX.jpg

According to Len Taylor, original owner of Trophy Miniatures, approx 18 sets were made in total. The first 6 had no box or dog, the second six had boxes but only three had Bobbie and the last 6 had boxes but no Bobbie. By the way Len wrote the set description on the outside of each of the twelve boxed sets.

So what we have here is one of the three from the very rare second batch (Box and Bobbie) and with Lens written description on the box

Cheers

Martyn:)

Many thanks Napoleon1er :salute:: I believe the majority of the 18 sets, that were produced in one way or another, went to the USA and in fact Al (boerboy) found one a year or two ago at a Show on the East Coast, fingers crossed one may come your way.

Martyn, this is my number one rare set on the wanted list to complete a Holmes collection! As for my most unique item, it is a monster handmade wooden plane of a WW2 Junkers from Holz Modellbau of Germany. 1 of 3 or 5 (forget which) made, it is a true work of art in my opinion. See linked thread here
http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?22889-Junkers-JU-52&highlight=holz

Notice the then 6 year old for scale purposes!

I remember you are after this one Tom. Mine could have been the only one to remain in the UK which should mean that you have a fair to middling chance of picking one up your side of the "pond" from the 16 unaccounted for sets

Cheers

Martyn:)

I know who has one (under oath not to reveal who), but good luck to all finding their set!

Please accept my apologies for the delinquency in responding. Have been trying to make a decision between the following two vintage W. Britains Ltd., sets and have been unable to do so. I believe I'm one of the 5 oldest members of the Forum, so would appreciate if you all might cut me a little slack, and allow me to submit both sets as reasonably unique. We are looking at James Opie rarity index numbers of 92 and 83. Have discussed both more extensively on my blog; http://www.arnhemjim.blogspot.com.

When looking at this figure set today, I remembered this thread and thought it would qualify.
I think this is the most unique item in my collection.
