A QUIET PLACE PART III---Paramount Pictures announced the second sequel to the original movie is underway and will premiere in 2025. It is not connected to the spinoff movie that will be directed by Michael Sarnoski (PIG).

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER---showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay said the tv series is limited to Tolkien's main novels as source material, not his other writings. Payne said, “We have the rights solely to THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, THE TWO TOWERS, THE RETURN OF THE KING, the appendices, and THE HOBBIT and that is it. We do not have the rights to THE SILMARILLION, UNFINISHED TALES, THE HISTORY OF MIDDLE-EARTH, or any of those other books.”
McKay added, "There’s a version of everything we need for the Second Age in the books we have the rights to. As long as we’re painting within those lines and not egregiously contradicting something we don’t have the rights to, there’s a lot of leeway and room to dramatize and tell some of the best stories that [Tolkien] ever came up with.”

1883---Taylor Sheridan's latest YELLOWSTONE spinoff series titled 1932 is underway which focuses on the adult versions of the 1883 Dutton children during Prohibition and the Great Depression. Sheridan also announced four other Paramount+ tv series are underway. THE TULSA KING stars Sylvester Stallone as a New York mobster who is forced to move to Kansas City. BASS REEVES stars David Oyelowo as the first black marshal west of the Mississippi in the 1880s. LAND MAN stars Billy Bob Thornton as a the crisis manager for an oil company during the west Texas oil boom. LIONESS stars Zoe Saldana as a CIA specialist.

TEEN WOLF---Paramount+ announced a movie is underway based on the tv series which will help introduce a spinoff tv series titled WOLF PACK based on the novels in which a ranger finds a pack of wolf cubs after a forest fire and discovers they are not ordinary wolves.

BILLIONS---Showtime renewed the series for Season 7.

TRIVIA---in Gene Roddenberry's PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW, the actors who played the two police detectives investigating a series of pretty coed murders both had abnormally short fingers. Telly Savalas was born with a deformed, short left index finger. James Doohan's right middle finger was shot off during combat on D-Day in World War II.

COYOTE VS ACME---John Cena will star in the Warner Bros. live-action/CGI movie about a down-on-his-luck lawyer who represents Wile E. Coyote in a lawsuit against ACME and discovers his ex-boss is ACME's lawyer.

PEACEMAKER---HBO Max renewed the series for Season 2.

HERE---the FORREST GUMP team of Tom Hanks, director Robert Zemeckis and writer Eric Roth will reunite for the movie based on the Richard McGuire graphic novel.

ALIEN---FX head John Landgraf commented on the Noah Hawley prequel series, “There are some big surprises in store for the audience. ALIEN takes place before Ripley. It’s the first story that takes place in the ALIEN franchise on Earth. So, it takes place on our planet. Right near the end of this century we’re in, so 70 odd years from now.”
He added, “Ripley won’t be a part of it or any of the other characters of ALIEN other than the alien itself…Noah has this incredible ability, and I think you’ve seen it with FARGO, to both find a way of being faithful, showing fidelity to an original creation like a Coen brothers’ movie or in this case, Ridley Scott’s and James Cameron’s follow-up, ALIENS, but also to bring something new to the table that represents extension and reinvention of a franchise at the same time.”

YELLOWSTONE---Season 5's 14 episodes will be split into two parts to introduce two spinoff series. Part 1 will introduce THE TULSA KING starring Sylvester Stallone as a mobster in Kansas City, and Part 2 will introduce 1932 which is about the Dutton children as adults during the Great Depression.

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON---George RR Martin said the HBO GAME OF THRONES prequel series has finished filming in London and that he seen the rough cuts and is "loving them". Martin posted, "the writing, the directing, the acting all look terrific. My hat is off to [showrunner Ryan Condal] and [co-showrunner Miguel Sapcochnik] and their team, and to our amazing cast."

RAY GUNN---Brad Bird will direct this animated sci fi movie about Raymund Gunn, the last human private detective, who investigates a pop singer for cheating on her husband which leads to murder.

THE SOPRANOS---HBO head Casey Bloys said there no plans for additional spinoffs, “I don’t think David [Chase] has any interest in revisiting THE SOPRANOS and I would agree with him. It’s a perfect series that I don’t think needs revisiting. But we’ll see what he wants to do next. If your question is about if the Super Bowl ad is some sort of precursor or anything like that, I don’t think so.
I don’t know where they left off, whether there were going to be more movies or what, so to your larger question about a ‘Sopranos’ series, there’s nothing there. And with THE MANY SAINTS there hadn’t been any conversations about it.”

STATE OF TERROR---movie underway based on the novel co-written by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

FX---FX renewed FARGO and DAVE. ATLANTA's Season 4 will be the last season.

TRIVIA---BACK TO THE FUTURE's original script had Doc Brown with a pet chimpanzee named Shemp. Universal Studios' Sid Sheinberg objected to the Doc's simian pet because movies with chimpanzees did not make money. Co-writer Bob Gale replied that Clint Eastwood's hit EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE had Eastwood with Clyde as his pet monkey. Sheinberg countered, "That sir, is an orangutan." Shemp was replaced with a dog named Einstein.

STAR WARS---Jon Watts (SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME) is rumored to be in talks to direct at least one episode of a secret Disney+ STAR WARS tv series with the working title of "Grammar Rodeo" that might be connected to STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC. It is will be a "STRANGER THINGS in space" and will focus on a "younger generation of heroes" during the High Republic era.
Sources said casting is underway for four characters ages 11-12 code-named Kylie, Faye, Wyatt and Ned who are probably Padawans. A fifth character, 30-40 years-old, is also being cast.

STRANGER THINGS---Netflix announced that Season 5 will be the last season. Season 4 will be split into two parts. Vol. 1 will premiere on May 27 and Vol. 2 will premiere on July 1. The Duffer brothers hinted a sequel or spinoff series may be in the future, “There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things: new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first, we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down.”

TALES OF THE WALKING DEAD---the AMC spinoff anthology series will feature six standalone zombie stories with a cast that includes Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Terry Crews and Olivia Munn.

PARKER---the IRON MAN 3 team of Robert Downey Jr. and writer Shane Black are reportedly reuniting for a movie featuring Parker from the Donald E. Westlake novels.

SYSTEM CRASHER---Channing Tatum will star in this US remake of the 2019 German movie about a girl who is befriended by a boxing coach that seeks to help her ambition to be a boxer.

HALO---executive producer Kiki Wolfkill of the Paramount+ tv series based on the video game said the tv series will have Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) without his helmet, “I think we set out to tell a character story and a personal story. And once we really got into what that story was, it became clear that you really needed to see the person in the armor and under the helmet. You will see his face. For some people, it’s been a moment 20 years in the making, and for other people it is something that feels very hard to imagine."
He added, "We absolutely respect both sides of that fence, those who really want to see Chief’s face and those who really don’t. But for the nature of this story, it felt really important to connect with the Master Chief in a different way, and that meant showing the face.”

FALLOUT---Walton Goggins will star in the Amazon Prime tv series based on the post-World War II video game. Goggins will likely play Ghoul, a human mutated by nuclear radiation.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
In FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, the "catfight" between the two gypsy girls, Zora and Vida, was based on the real hostility that existed between the two actresses. Martine Beswick played Zora and Aliza Gur, a former Miss Israel, played Vida. Director Terence Young, who was aware of the bad blood between them, encouraged the actresses to channel their anger in the scene to make it realistic. Martine Beswick said, "I was a very nice girl but Aliza was a cow. We had terrible clashes and I was disgusted with her. I had a lot of anger inside of me so that [fight] scene was a perfect way to work it out. We rehearsed the fight for three weeks. but when we shot it, Aliza was really fighting. Everyone encouraged me to fight back, so I did. We got into a real scrapping match."

KILL BILL VOLUME 3---Uma Thurman commented on a second sequel, “There was real thought about it happening. I don’t see it as immediately on the horizon. I hate to disappoint people. Everybody wishes it would be the case, but I think it’s not immediately on the horizon.”

SMALLVILLE---Tom Welling said an animated tv sequel is being developed, “We’re working on an animated series that picks up right after our SMALLVILLE [Season 10], and, again, telling our own story and our vision is that we get Erica… it might be tough to get Allison [Mack]…
But even Sam Jones III and Lionel Luthor is going to be a big part of that. John Glover wants to do it, we’ve already been into this. We’ve already gotten animation, we just don’t have the stories yet because Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar] are busy doing Tim Burton-like movies.
As soon as they are done with that, we’re going to do this. I want to be Clark’s voice, I want Erica to be Lois’ voice, that’s going to be the fun of it. I think there’s a story that Al and Miles are going to tell that’s individual and new and call it a Multiverse thing. But let’s see where it goes, and it’ll be fun.”

TRIVIA---character actor Ted Hartley appeared in two movies in which he and another actor were involved in military plane crashes: Dean Martin's MURDERERS' ROW and Clint Eastwood's HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER.
In Dean Martin's Matt Helm spy movie MURDERERS' ROW, Hartley played the security guard/villain scientist's nephew. In 1964, Hartley's F-8 Crusader fighter crashed on the deck of the USS Hornet in which he was thrown out of the jet, breaking his back, before it went over the side of the aircraft carrier. After being medically discharged from the Navy, Hartley became an actor and investment banker. Later, Hartley and his wife, actress/Post cereal heiress Dina Merrill, acquired RKO Pictures. Also in MURDERER'S ROW, Dean Martin's son, Dino, appeared in the movie with his band Dino, Desi and Billy (Desi was Desi Arnaz, Jr., son of Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball). Dino was killed in 1987 when his California Air National Guard F-4C Phantom fighter crashed into California's ironically-named San Bernadino mountains during a snow storm.

And finally we ran out of fuel up around Point Reyes, California, and went in the ocean. So we went swimming. It was late October, November. Very cold water. (I) found out many years later that it was a white shark breeding ground, but I’m glad I didn’t know that at the time or I’d have just died.”

BLADE RUNNER 2099---Amazon Studios live-action tv series sequel to the movies is underway. Ridley Scott is the executive producer and will reportedly direct some of the episodes.

THE THING---John Carpenter commented on which of his movies he would like to do a sequel to, “I would like to do a sequel to THE THING or a continuation, something like that. But I don’t know. See, there are a lot of things in this world I don’t know.” In 2020, Carpenter said and Jason Blum were discussing another THE THING movie, “We’ve talked about – I think he’s going to be working on THE THING, rebooting THE THING. I’m involved with that, maybe. Down the road”
Carpenter also commented on more HALLOWEEN sequels, “Let me explain the movie business to you: if you take a dollar sign and attach it to anything, there will be somebody who wants to do a sequel. It will live. If the dollar sign is not big enough, no matter what, it will not live. I don’t know, man. I don’t know. This time, I do not know. They really want to end. They’re going to shut it off, end it. It’s what David [David Gordon Green] has in mind. That’s fine.”

BATGIRL---a newspaper prop from the film set reveals the fate of Lex Luthor and possible The Penguin, A partially-hidden headline appears to say, “A COMEBACK FOR COBBLEPOT”, which may refer to Oswald Cobblepot, The Penguin.

BLACK SAMURAI---Netflix bought the rights to the Black Samurai novels to start an entertainment franchise.

YEAR 2---Frank Grillo will star in this horror movie after a Super Moon has cause a latent lycanthropy gene to cause most of mankind to turn into werewolves and scientist Wesley Marshall must find a cure, "The event led to close to one billion deaths. Now the Supermoon has returned and Marshall must find a cure. When his sister-in-law and niece face a wolf onslaught at their heavily fortified house, he must decide whether to save the world or save his family."

THE BLACKLIST---NBC renewed the series for Season 10.

TRIVIA---THE NAKED GUN starred Leslie Nielsen as hero Lt. Frank Drebin and Ricardo Montalban as villain Vincent Ludwig. Nielsen played the hero and Montalban played the villain in two sci fi movies about humans who survived a catastrophe on a distant planet.
In FORBIDDEN PLANET, Nielsen played Lt. Cdr. JJ Adams who discovers two survivors of an Earth expedition to Altair IV that mysteriously disappeared 20 years before.

BABYLON 5---writer J. Michael Straczynski said the reboot series has not been picked up by a network, however CW CEO Mark Pedowitz will "roll" the reboot into 2023 so development can continue.

THE FLASH---two "insiders" claim Henry Cavill will have a cameo as Superman in the DC Comics superhero movie.

80 FOR BRADY---Tom Brady, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field star in this movie based on the true story of four female friends who go on a chaotic road trip to see Tom Brady and the New England Patriots play in the 2017 Super Bowl.

TRIVIA---there are two tv horror monsters named Janos Skorzeny. The first Janos Skorzeny was the vampire who preyed on Las Vegas women while being pursued by newspaper reporter Carl Kolchak in the 1972 hit tv movie THE NIGHT STALKER.
