STRANGER THINGS---the series set a record of 7.2 billion viewing minutes from May 30-June 5. It is now the most-watched English language series on Netflix.
Also the Duffer brothers commented on the spinoff series, “It’s not following…I’ve read these rumors that there’s gonna be an Eleven spinoff, that there’s gonna be a Steve and Dustin spinoff or that it’s another number. That’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that. So it’s very different.”
The brothers also announced that Season 5, the last season, will be shorter than previous seasons. Matt Duffer said, "We thought Season 4 was going to be eight [episodes], and they were going to be regular length. So if you had interviewed us before four, that's what I would've said. I think we're aiming for eight again. We don't want it to be 13 hours. We're aiming for more like 10 hours or something. I think it's going to be longer than Season 1 because we just have so much to wrap up, but I don't think it's going to be as long as Season 4."
Ross Duffer added, "This season, for instance, it was two hours before our characters even realized the monster was killing people in Hawkins. They know what the threat is now, and so that will help speed it up."
Matt commented on Millie Bobbie Brown's criticism of the series, "What did Millie call us? She said we were 'sensitive Sallies.' She’s hilarious. Believe us, we’ve explored all options in the writing room. Just as a complete hypothetical, if you kill Mike, that's depressing. We aren’t GAME OF THRONES. This is Hawkins, it’s not Westeros. The show becomes not STRANGER THINGS anymore because you do have to treat it realistically, right?"
LIGHTYEAR---Tim Allen commented on the TOY STORY spinoff's disappointing box office, "I've stayed out of this, because it has nothing to do with… As I've said, a long time ago, we talked about this, many years ago. It came up in one of the sessions. I said, 'What a fun movie that would be.' We spoke about it. But the brass that did the first four movies is not this. It's a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies."
He added, "I thought it was a live-action. When they said they were doing it live-action, that's what I thought to mean real humans, and not an animated thing. And really, as [Tom] Hanks and I, there's really no Buzz without Woody, so I'm not sure what the idea… I'm a plot guy. If this was done in 1997, it would seem to be a big adventure story, and as I see, it's not a big adventure story. It's a wonderful story. It just doesn't seem to have any connection to the toy."
Tom Hanks said Tim Allen should not have been replaced by Chris Evans, "...they didn’t let Tim Allen do it. I don’t understand that. Here’s the thing – just as long as people come back to the motion picture theater. I want to go back in the theater with a bunch of strangers and leave with something in common. That’s what I want to do and, going to see a movie with him [Allen] – I’m looking forward to that."
KEANU REEVES---producer Andrew Kimmel posted the following about Keanu Reeves, "Keanu Reeves was on my flight from London to NYC today. A young boy asked for an autograph at baggage & then began to fire off a series of rapid-fire questions. Keanu happily responded to every single one…"
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3---Chris Pratt commented on the sequel, "It's fantastic. James Gunn just watched a rough assembly the other day. I called him yesterday. We Facetimed, and he's very, very proud of the work that everyone's done. He said it's the best work all of us have ever done. He feels very, very confident. The script was amazing. And I can say with utter confidence that he's made a true masterpiece, and I just cannot wait for people to see it. It's James Gunn. He did all three movies, which is really rare and really special in the world of big box-office trilogies."
ENTOURAGE---Kevin Dillon commented on a possible reboot, “I would love to do it, and I’m pretty sure everyone in the cast would love to do it and I’d push it all the time...I’m right now at Action Park, I do a podcast called Victory The Podcast with Kevin Connolly, Doug Ellin, they’re both in the other room right now. Not a day goes by when I don’t say something about a reboot.”
He added, “So I would love to see it. At the same time, we did a pilot together. So me, Kevin Connolly, Doug Ellin, and Charlie Sheen did a pilot called RAMBLE ON, which if it gets picked up, could be really cool. So we’ll see what happens with that.”
SNOW WHITE---Martin Klebba [PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN} confirmed he will play dwarf Grumpy in the live-action remake movie starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.
TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Richard Johnson turned down the James Bond role for DR. NO and said it turned out for the better, "The producers, Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, asked me - at (director) Terence Young's instigation - and I turned the job down. I was under contract to MGM anyway, so that gave me a reasonable excuse to say no, because they told me I'd have to be under exclusive contract to them for seven years. Eventually they offered it to Sean [Connery], who was completely wrong for the part. But in getting the wrong man they got the right man, because it turned the thing on its head and he made it funny. And that's what propelled it to success."
Johnson later starred in the highly-regarded James Bond-inspired Bulldog Drummond movie DEADLIER THAN THE MALE.
