AVATAR 3---James Cameron commented on the second sequel, “The fire will be represented by the ‘Ash People.’ I want to reveal the Na’vi from another angle because, for the moment, I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In AVATAR 3, we’ll have the opposite.
We will also explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how AVATAR 2 will be received, if it will find its audience.”

He added, “But there’s some great characters launched, and the folks from Lucasfilm love the fans and really do listen so I would never say never — but I’m not aware of any concrete plans right now to extend the story or deal with that particular set of characters.”
THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY---new synopsis released for the spinoff series, "Years have passed since we last saw Maggie and Negan and they must now form a tenuous alliance in order to accomplish a dangerous mission. Maggie and Negan journey to the island of Manhattan, which, having been isolated since the beginning of the walker apocalypse, has developed its own unique threats.
While in the city, Maggie and Negan encounter native New Yorkers, evade a marshal with a troubled past, and hunt down a notorious killer. But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present."
STRANGER THINGS---Noah Schnapp commented on Will Byers in Season 5, "I can just tell you that I’m very, very excited for what’s to come. I think they did a great job with
Will’s character this season and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect – the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will."
NCIS---after a fan posted he wants Tony DiNizzo and Ziva to return to the series, Michael Weather replied, "Stay tuned… for this might be an interesting year for such “moments”!"

Unfortunately for Jaws, his parachute malfunctions and he falls into a circus tent, which collapses.
In reality, the brief scene took stuntmen Jake Lombard (James Bond), BJ Worth (pilot) and Ron Luginbill (Jaws) 88 total skydives to complete.

TOP GUN 3---director Joseph Kosinski commented about a second sequel, "Is there another story that is compelling enough that we need to go back? It seems to me at the end of this film that Maverick has some gas left in the tank. He’s not settling down." Kosinski said that Tom Cruise was not interested in returning for MAVERICK until he heard the plot for the proposed sequel.
Earlier, co-star Miles Teller added, "That would be great, but that’s all up to TC. It’s all up to Tom. I’ve been having some conversations with him about it. We’ll see."

A British tabloid claims the James Bond movie producers have added Lucien Laviscount (EMILY IN PARIS) to their list of new 007 candidates, “it’s thought Ms [Barbara] Broccoli and her team are keen to have an ethnic-minority star to play 007 so the franchise is reflective of modern society” and that she “is very taken with him”.
SHERLOCK---writer Steven Moffat said he would “start writing Sherlock tomorrow" if Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman would return, if their busy schedules allow it. He added, “They’re on to bigger and better things but, Martin and Benedict, please come back?”
ASSASSIN'S CREED---writer/showrunner Jeb Stuart (DIE HARD) said he is longer involved with the Netlix tv series based on the video game, "I think it was a little bit of a move of executives from LA to London, and it allowed the London group who, unfortunately, had to inherit my vision of what it was instead of getting to develop their own vision. So I think that's fair. I know it's going to be great whenever it comes out. I think the Ubisoft guys are fantastic. I think it's a terrific franchise. It was just a good, mutual time to move on for both sides."
SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW---writer Dan Slott commented on fan criticism that the tv series is not faithful to the comic book, “Anyone saying the @SheHulkOfficial TV show wasn’t ‘comic book accurate’… I’m the guy who has written more issues of SHE-HULK than anyone. I’ve read every single comic from every #SheHulk run. And I’m saying, for the record, it is the MOST comic book-accurate show in the MCU.

ROMEO AND JULIET---stars Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey filed a lawsuit for more than $500 million against Paramount Pictures claiming their nude roles in the 1968 Franco Zeffirelli movie were sexual harassment, child abuse and fraud. Whiting, who was 16 years old, and Hussey, who was 15, said Zeffirelli assured them they their nudity would not appear in the finished movie. Tony Marinozzi, the two actors' business manager, said, “What they were told and what went on were two different things. They trusted Franco. At 16, as actors, they took his lead that he would not violate that trust they had. Franco was their friend, and frankly, at 16, what do they do? There are no options. There was no #MeToo.” However, in 2018 interviews, Hussey defended the nude scene, “Nobody my age had done that before. It was needed for the film." She added, "It wasn’t that big of a deal. And Leonard wasn’t shy at all! In the middle of shooting, I just completely forgot I didn’t have clothes on.”
Zeffirelli died in 2019.

SHARDLAKE---Disney+ tv series underway based on the novels about hunchbacked lawyer/detective Matthew Shardlake.
TRIVIA---Matt Damon turned down a starring role in AVATAR because he was involved in the BOURNE movies. After James Cameron offered him 10% of the profits, Damon still refused the offer which would have amounted to $250 million. Damon said, “I will go down in history… you will never meet an actor who turned down more money.” Cameron said, "Matt you're kind of like one of the biggest movie stars in the world, get over it. But he had to do another BOURNE film which was on his runway and there was nothing we could do about that. So he had to regretfully decline."

I’m not exactly surprised [it hasn’t happened yet] because essentially, first and foremost, somebody has to write a fairly sizable check. I’m not talking about me being paid. I’m talking about the cost of making a season of television.
For a while, it seemed like the streamers were gonna be everybody’s saviour, in that respect, but now there’s been a cutoff there. There are shows that are watched by millions of people that don’t make it past a second season. So, I have no idea what that calculation is.”
TRIVIA---during a weapons amnesty program in 2017, a man walked into the Bridgewater Police Station in Somerset, England and turned in a MP40 sub-machine gun prop fired by Clint Eastwood in WHERE EAGLES DARE, A police station official said, "A man walked into the station claiming to work in the film industry. He said the machine gun was used by Clint Eastwood in WHERE EAGLES DARE. He said it was a prop which we have since confirmed. It could be valuable." The MP40 prop was donated to the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.

STRANGER THINGS---cast contracts were renegotiated for Season 5, the last season. David Harbour and Winona Ryder will get $9.5 million. Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard and Sadie Sink will get over $7 million. Joe Keery, Natalie Dyer, Maya Hawke and Charlie Heaton will get $6 million. Millie Bobby Brown has a separate contract with Netflix.

It’s almost like if you factor in the idea of offspring and Castor and Sean having children and these children grow up, then it becomes like three-dimensional chess, and then it’s not just the two, John Travolta and myself, it’s four of us ping-ponging and going at different levels, and it becomes even more complex. I think there’s a lot of fertile ground there.

It is embarrassing to hear that today, 55 years after filming, two elderly actors who owe their notoriety essentially to this film wake up to declare that they have suffered an abuse that has caused them years of anxiety and emotional discomfort. It appears to me that in all these years, they have always maintained a relationship of deep gratitude and friendship towards Zeffirelli, releasing hundreds of interviews about the happy memory of their very fortunate experience, which was crowned with worldwide success."

The production designer, supervising art director and the visual effects team have left the movie due to rising budget problems. Originally, the movie was going to use virtual effects technology like in THE MANDALORIAN, but current plans are to use cheaper green screen effects. The cast includes Adam Driver, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne and Dustin Hoffman.

MEGALOPOLOIS---Francis Ford Coppola denied reports the movie production is in "chaos" after art and visual effects members left the movie, “I’ve never worked on a film where I was so happy with the cast. I am so happy with the look and that we are so on schedule. These reports never say who these sources are. To them, I say, ha, ha, just wait and see.
Because this is a beautiful film and primarily so because the cast is so great. I’ve never enjoyed working with a cast who are so hardworking and so willing to go search for the unconventional, to come upon hidden solutions.
It is a thrill to work with these actors, and the photography is everything I could hope for. The dailies are great. So if we’re on schedule, and I love the actors, and the look is great, I don’t know what anyone’s talking about here.”
Star Adam Driver added, “I’d like to briefly respond to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER article published Monday, January 9th. All good here! Not sure what set you’re talking about! I don’t recognize that one! I’ve been on sets that were chaotic, and this one is far from it.
The environment that’s being created by Francis is one of focus and inspiration. As of now, we’re on schedule, making our days, and honestly, it’s been one of the best shooting experiences I’ve had.”

He’s funny and courageous and saves Indy’s ***. If Disney or Lucasfilm ever come to me and say, ‘We want to do a Short Round spinoff,’ I’m there, man. I love that character so much, and it would just be incredible to revisit so many years later.”
Quan also commented on returning as Data for a sequel to THE GOONIES, “I really don’t know if there will be a GOONIES 2, but I’m open to revisiting the character...For the last thirty-something years we tried to do GOONIES 2." Quan said the death of director Richard Donner was an added factor in a sequel not being made. Disney+ is developing a GOONIES tv spinoff titled OUR TIME.
THE WALKING DEAD---AMC announced FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's upcoming Season 8 will be the last season. Also, AMC released a synopsis for the spinoff series THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON, "In THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG---Nicolas Winding Refn accused Amazon Prime of burying his 2019 miniseries starring Miles Teller because it was too violent, "Well, they took all my marketing money away because they were afraid that the show would reflect badly on Amazon. They told me that directly. They were so shocked by it. I was like, “What’s so shocking?” They said, “It’s going to make us look bad.” And I said, “But I don’t think anyone’s going to look at you at all.” Certain parts of Hollywood are so self-absorbed that they think they’re at the center of the universe. The rule of fear is very dangerous. Amazon released the show, but they said, 'We will bury you.' And so they did. However, you can’t bury a diamond."

Discovery sorting out its project priorities, “...where all the superhero stuff kind of lands there”. He added, “I think those conversations will be happening shortly. I know DiCaprio is super passionate about it. I’m super passionate about it. I think it could be great… I want that one to work. I’d love to play that superhero.”
TRIVIA---the 1979 movie WINTER KILLS was based on the novel written by Richard Condon (THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE) which was inspired by the John F. Kennedy assassination and starred Jeff Bridges, John Huston and Richard Boone. When Elizabeth Taylor appeared on the film set for her cameo as the President's main mistress, everyone was disappointed to see she was very overweight. Academy Award-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond (CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF TH THIRD KIND) remembered that years before, Panavision had developed a lens that compressed the film image. He asked Panavision for the lens, which took a week to find. With the new lens, Taylor looked much slimmer in the movie. Consequently, Zsigmond was nicknamed "Dr. Zsigmond" for Taylor's technological diet.

TRIVIA---the 1979 movie WINTER KILLS was based on the novel written by Richard Condon (THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE) which was inspired by the John F. Kennedy assassination and starred Jeff Bridges, John Huston and Richard Boone. When Elizabeth Taylor appeared on the film set for her cameo as the President's main mistress, everyone was disappointed to see she was very overweight. Academy Award-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond (CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF TH THIRD KIND) remembered that years before, Panavision had developed a lens that compressed the film image. He asked Panavision for the lens, which took a week to find. With the new lens, Taylor looked much slimmer in the movie. Crew member Jake Clarke then saw a 6' 4" crew member who, "Started talking really hyper" and said he was not feeling well. He added, “We saw James Cameron run by the door and this extra running behind him. He said, ‘There’s something in me! Get it out!'” Soon many other crew members said they were also feeling strange.
Paxton said, “Some people were laughing, some people were crying, some people were throwing up. One minute I felt O.K., the next minute I felt so go**amn anxious I wanted to breathe in a paper bag. [James] Cameron was feeling the same way.” They then realized the clam chowder had been spiked with a hallucinogen.

THE LAST OF US---Episode 2 drew 5.7 million viewers which was a 22% increase over Episode 1 and the, “largest week 2 audience growth for an HBO Original drama series in the history of the network.” Also, co-creator Neil Druckmann commented on fan criticism about the show's differences from the video game, "I’ve learned to expect backlash from sneezing. I think it speaks to the kind of fans that we have, who are so protective and love the world and these characters so much that anything they see as a deviation, without the full context of what it means, they assume the worst and push back on it. I think that addition is something worthwhile. It’s actually one of those additions where I’m like, 'Oh man, I wish we had it for the game. I wish we had thought of it years ago, because I love it so much.'"
ACCUSED---the Fox crime anthology series premiere drew a record 8.4 million viewers.
M&M---Mars, Inc. announced it has discontinued its M&M animated "spokescandy" characters after a deluge of consumer complaints that the new characters were too woke. Mars has replaced the spokescandies with Maya Rudolph.
OLD GUY---Christoph Waltz will star in this comedy movie about a retired assassin who is hired by his former employer to team up with a young, obnoxious Gen-Z assassin to kill the leaders of a competing crime syndicate only to discover the real purpose of their mission. Simon West is the director.
VIOLENT NIGHT 2---director Tommy Wirkola confirmed the sequel is underway with the original creative team returning, "We’ve been talking about where we want to take it and what we want to see. There is stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves, but story-wise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”
MEGALOPOLIS---Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of the Francis Ford Coppola movie that also stars Adam Driver, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne and Dustin Hoffman.
WILDCAT---Ethan Hawke will direct his daughter, Maya Hawke, in this movie about writer Flannery O'Connor. Laura Linney and Vincent D'Onofrio also star.
TRIVIA---Sigourney Weaver was paid $35,000 for ALIEN. After the huge success of the original movie, Weaver was paid $1 million and a percentage of the profits for the hit sequel ALIENS.
