STAR WARS---Dave Filoni commented on his upcoming STAR WARS movie, “There’s a treasure of things to draw from, not just within our own series, but in the bigger galaxy. I definitely think a large-scale battle that would be very hard to do in our time, that we’re doing right now … when I saw the opening of REVENGE OF THE SITH, and the starfighters came over the bow of the ship and revealed this massive battle, I’m like, ‘This is it. This is the movie that I want to see, right here.'”

THE BOROUGHS---new Netflix/Duffer brothers (STRANGER THINGS) sci fi series whose synopsis says, “In a seemingly picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert, a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have… time.”

JURASSIC WORLD---FORBES reported that the two JURASSIC WORLD movies total production cost was $844.7 million with FALLEN KINGDOM's cost at $516.1 million, which makes it the second most-expensive movie ever. STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is the most-expensive movie ever with $533.2 million production cost.

Come on, give me a part!' And he took me seriously. He got me a part."

MYTHIC QUEST---F. Murray Abraham issued an apology after he was fired from the Apple TV+ series following allegations of sexual misconduct, “This is a sincere and deeply felt apology. Though never my intention to offend anyone, I told jokes, nothing more, that upset some of my colleagues and, as a result, lost a great job with wonderful people. I have grown in my understanding from this experience, and I hope they will forgive me.”

STATION 19---ABC renewed the series for Season 7.

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN---a remake underway of the 1985 movie that starred Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt.

TRIVIA---the KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER episode "Chopper" was co-written by David Chase (THE SOPRANOS) based on an idea by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale (BACK TO THE FUTURE). The plot has former members of a biker gang being beheaded by a headless motorcyclist. Investigative reporter Carl Kolchak seeks information on old motorcycles from motorcycle dealer Herb Breeson, who is played by Jim Backus. Later in the episode, Kolchak is searching for bodies stored in a county warehouse and one storage label says, "Backus".

Good to see another Venom movie coming out, also interesting to see the Night Stalker/Sopranos connection, I still like watching those old Night Stalker episodes.

I love the Night Stalker series. The stories are interesting. His relationship with his editor is the fun part in watching his shows.

Absolutely Grey, Karl's fanatical dedication to Monster busting upsets a lot of people, I always laugh at his oneliners and of course the Karl v Tony debates are a joy to watch.

I've seen "Chopper" several times and noticed the "Backus" label for the first time last week, so I used it for the trivia. The guy who did the bluray commentary didn't notice the "Backus".

I watched the original KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER when it was on Friday nights in the 1970s. I got the bluray set and am watching one episode with commentary every Friday night for nostalgia's sake.

I also have THE NIGHT STALKER COMPANION by Mark Dawidziak, which is considered one of the best reference books on the tv show.

Dragon, thanks for the headsup, even though I have Two DVD sets, One US Region and One Region 4, I will get a suitable Blueray version for the commentaries.

The Night Stalker was the inspiration for Chris Carter to create the X-Files which by the way is another of my all time favorites. I hear they are going to reboot the X-Files but from what I've read I won't be watching it.

A long time ago, I posted the trivia that the original tv movie THE NIGHT STALKER co-starred Barry Atwater as vampire Janos Skorzeny and Claude Akins as Sheriff Butcher. Atwater and Akins had co-starred earlier in THE TWILIGHT ZONE classic episode "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street".

Chris Carter supposedly wanted Darren McGavin to return as Kolchak for an X-FILES episode, but McGavin refused and agreed only if he played another character. They did use Kolchak's brother or something in one X-FILES episode, if I remember correctly.

Jeff Rice was supposed to play the coroner in the original THE NIGHT STALKER tv movie, but when they got a new director, he wanted another actor, Larry Linville, who then became famous playing Dr. Frank Burns on MASH. Unfortunately, Jeff Rice died penniless.

Years ago on another forum, I posted some KOLCHAK trivia which led to forum members discussing that Rice supposedly plagiarized his THE NIGHT STALKER from a novel PROGENY OF THE ADDER. I had never heard of this accusation before, but most people who have read the PROGENY OF THE ADDER think Rice is guilty.

OZDIGGER:

AS I posted earlier, the book THE NIGHT STALKER COMPANION by Mark Dawidziak is considered to be the best source of information on the Kolchak franchise---a lot of the guys who provided the commentaries on the bluray set mention the book.

STAR WARS---a rumor claims Daisy Ridley will not be the main character in the new STAR WARS movie, “From what I understand, and what some of the rumors have come out here is that Daisy won’t necessarily be the lead. She’ll be like the Luke [Skywalker] or the Obi-Wan [Kenobi] of the situation, and she’ll rebuild the new Jedi Order.”

EVIL DEAD RISE---the sequel premiere earned $23.5 million compared to the original movie which earned $2.4 million.

BREAKOUT---Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in this movie about a man who tries to free his stepson from a foreign prison after being framed.

EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND---Ray Romano commented on he and creator Phil Rosenthal developing a reboot of the comedy series, "We lost Peter [Boyle] pretty quickly after the show ended. But before we lost Doris [Roberts], when that topic came up, Phil and I weren’t keen on doing a reboot — even a one-and-done. I think Phil has tried to get a reunion together, something like what they did with FRIENDS. That would be great, if there’s demand for it. But I don’t think I’d ever want to act as that character again. I don’t want us to have to follow ourselves. And are there any good reboots? There are probably some — but without Peter and Doris, it would be a shame to even try."

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
In QUANTUM OF SOLACE, director Guillermo del Toro provided the voice for the man who said to Bond Villain Dominic Greene, "You know, there are people in this country spending half their paycheck just trying to get clean water. What do you think of that?"

Interesting info there Dragon. I remember seeing Darren McGavin playing retired FBI agent Arthur Dales in an X Files episode called 'Travellers', the 'monster' reminded me of the Two 'The Hidden' movies that were underrated imo.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER---spoiler alert (see below).

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---Nic Pizzolatto (TRUE DETECTIVE) is developing an Amazon Prime remake series based on the 1960 Western movie that starred Yul Bryner, Steve McQueen and James Coburn. Pizzolatto also wrote the script for the 2016 remake movie that starred Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt.

ROMAN POLANSKI---Samantha Geimer, in an interview with director Roman Polanski's wife, actress Emmanuelle Seigner, denied she was a victim when she was 13 years-old and Polanski plied her with pills and alcohol before raping her at Jack Nicholson's house in 1977, “Let me be very clear: what happened with Polanski was never a big problem for me. I didn’t even know it was illegal, that someone could be arrested for it. I was fine, I’m still fine. The fact that we’ve made this thing up weighs on me terribly. To have to constantly repeat that it wasn’t a big deal, it’s a terrible burden.”
She added, “I remember the time when I was starting to work. I became a model at 14 years old. All the girls, the models, slept with the photographers and I was no exception. But sex was something normal, a natural aspect of life. There wasn’t all this drama, all this darkness surrounding sex.”
Geimer blamed the news media for sensationalizing the incident over the years. Both women agreed on limitations of the #MeToo movement, and Geimer criticized attorney Gloria Allred, who represented many rape victims, “[Allred] just diminishes women to exploit their pain. I’m sorry but that is no defense.”

ROMAN-POLANSKI-FOTOR.jpg

L.A. CONFIDENTIAL---writer James Ellroy recently commented on the Academy Award-winning movie based on his novel, “People love the movie L.A. CONFIDENTIAL. I think it’s a turkey of the highest form. I think Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger are impotent. The director [Curtis Hanson] died, so now I can disparage the movie.”

LA-CONFIDENTIAL-FOTOR.jpg

NICOLAS CAGE---the actor explained the "dark" period in his career when he took "crummy" roles to repay his $6 million debts, “I was over-invested in real estate. The real estate market crashed, and I couldn’t get out in time. I paid them all back, but it was about $6 million. I never filed for bankruptcy.”
Although some of the movies were direct-to-video releases, Cage still took the roles, "Work was always my guardian angel. It may not have been blue chip, but it was still work. Even if the movie ultimately is crummy, they know I’m not phoning it in, that I care every time.”

007'S ROAD TO A MILLION---Brian Cox will play the host and Bond Villain The Controller in this Amazon Prime reality competition series in which contestants compete in global locations featured in the James Bond movies for a $1.3 million prize.

NO HARD FEELINGS---synopsis released for the Jennifer Lawrence comedy movie, “On the brink of losing her childhood home, Maddie (Lawrence) discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to ‘date’ their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, before he leaves for college. To her surprise, Maddie soon discovers the awkward Percy is no sure thing."

TRIVIA---James Arness and his younger brother, Peter Graves, both starred in 1950s giant insect movies in which they used a M1928 Thompson submachine gun to kill a giant insect.
In THEM!, Arness played FBI agent Robert Graham, who led troops into Los Angeles' storm drain tunnels to rescue two boys trapped in a nest of giant ants and kills the mutant insects with his Tommy gun. In BEGINNING OF THE END, Graves played scientist Dr. Edward Wainwright, who used a Tommy gun to killed a giant grasshopper that escaped from a test lab.

A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE---Cinemablend says the prequel trailer has the opening scene, "The A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE footage began with a look at what appears to be a normal day in the heart of New York City. Lupita Nyong'o's character sleeps on a bus with a cat lying on her lap, and suddenly her eyes open in shock when the vehicle comes to a stop. As the camera pulls out and she looks behind her, she sees that the bus has been cut in half somehow. People are standing around in the streets looking up, and the reason why is revealed as the camera tilts. There are what look like hundreds of asteroids streaking through the sky (what we know is actually an alien invasion), and the moment is interrupted by a big boom as one of the extraterrestrials crashes to the ground.
Lupita Nyong'o is knocked out and covered in dust, and as she wakes up and walks around terrified, she is grabbed by a stranger and shushed. In a montage, there is chaos in the subway, cars exploding, and panic in the streets of New York. At the end of the preview, the protagonist is hiding under a car and breathing hard but quietly, and the peace is broken when a man tries to get under the same car and starts pulling at her legs. However, at the same time, the man also gets pulled away by something unseen, and the footage ended with what looked like the car collapsing down on her."

YELLOWJACKETS---nonbinary Liv Hewson said she will not allow herself to be considered for an Emmy award because of their gender categories, “There’s not a place for me in the acting categories. It would be inaccurate for me to submit myself as an actress. It neither makes sense for me to be lumped in with the boys.”

When people like George [Lucas] work with CGI, you’re not going to recast the movie, you’re not going to rewrite the movie. You could fool with the color. I think Terrence Malick fooling with the color was wrong, and I think when Francis [Ford Coppola] did his longer of APOCALYPSE NOW, it was worse than before. So I think it’s better to just let them be.”

BLADE---Nic Pizzolatti (TRUE DETECTIVE) will rewrite the script for the Marvel Studios reboot movie starring Mahershala Ali.

TRIVIA---when the movie sequel STAR TREK: GENERATIONS was in its early stages of development, producer Ron Moore said he was told by producer Rick Berman that Marlon Brando “might be interested” in playing villain Dr. Tolian Soran. One version is that Berman was ecstatic that Brando might star in a STAR TREK movie, but Paramount Pictures opposed Brando because the studio thought Brando was washed up, his salary demand was too high and he was difficult to work with. Another version is that Paramount wanted Brando, but he decided not to accept the role. Either way, Brando was out of the picture, and Berman chose Malcolm McDowell for the role. STAR WARS---Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy recently denied reports that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was developing a STAR WARS movie by saying, "Nothing ever got developed...we never discussed an idea." However, the Russo brothers contradicted Kennedy by saying Feige was indeed working on a STAR WARS movie, and they had talked with Feige about directing it. Joe Russo said, “We love STAR WARS. There were early conversations, there were some early conversations with us. Kevin Feige is a huge STAR WARS fan, and there were some early conversations about maybe teaming up with Kevin to do STAR WARS."

She offers a chicken to Carter, who replies, "I don't want no chicken. What am I gonna do with a chicken? I don't like my chickens live, okay? I like 'em dead and deep-fried.
