THE WITCHER---Season 3 Part 2 has earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 22% compared to Season 1's score of 89%. The decline is attributed to Henry Cavill leaving the series.

ALIEN vs. PREDATOR---director Shinji Aramaki said his ten-episode animated tv series that was never shown is titled ALIEN vs. PREDATOR: ANNIHILATION and was set on a giant immigration ship and occurred between ALIEN vs. PREDATOR and ALIEN: RESURRECTION. RUSH HOUR 4--Chris Tucker commented on the status of the rumored sequel, "You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level. That’s what I like…I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen… RUSH HOUR 4, that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie [Chan], but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it."

WHALEFALL---movie underway based on the novel whose synopsis says, "Jay Gardiner has given himself a fool’s errand – to find the remains of his deceased father in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Monastery Beach. He knows it’s a long shot, but Jay feels it’s the only way for him to lift the weight of guilt he has carried since his dad’s death by suicide the previous year. The dive begins well enough, but the sudden appearance of a giant squid puts Jay in very real jeopardy, made infinitely worse by the arrival of a sperm whale looking to feed. Suddenly, Jay is caught in the squid’s tentacles and drawn into the whale’s mouth where he is pulled into the first of its four stomachs. He quickly realizes he has only one hour before his oxygen tanks run out – one hour to defeat his demons and escape the belly of a whale. Suspenseful and cinematic, Whalefall is an 'astoundingly great' (Gillian Flynn, New York Times bestselling author) thriller about a young man who has given up on life… only to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places."

NAPOLEON---Ridley Scott said his biomovie does not include Napoleon Bonaparte possibly losing the critical Battle of Waterloo because he was distracted by the pain from hemorrhoids (piles), "Napoleon was a horseman, he suffered from piles. That’s varicose veins up your butt, right? I don’t have them, but they’re very, very painful, it ain’t funny. It’s like having a toothache up your butt. There’s nothing you can do.
We sense history might have been different had Napoleon not had a very bad attack of piles on the day of Waterloo. You heard this one? Okay. So I had him at Waterloo, sitting on the loo, and it’s pouring with rain outside, and he does his business. He gets up, looks in the loo, and there is blood.
Then he does the day in battle, sweating and in agony with the piles. David [Scarpa, the screenwriter] said, ‘Isn’t this rather undignified?’ I said, ‘Maybe, but it’s accurate.’ But we took it out of the movie because it became too distracting.”

AGATHA, COVEN OF WITCHES---Aubrey Plaza will play Rio Vidal, the first Green witch and the ex-lesbian lover of Agatha Harkness, in the Marvel Studios/Disney+ tv series.

A QUIET PLACE 3---Emily Blunt said a possible sequel is being discussed with her husband and writer/director, John Krasinski, and co-star Cillian Murphy, "Well, Cillian [Murphy] and I were having a chat with John [Krasinski] about it last night. We were sitting on a rooftop all together drinking wine and... ‘You know what would be great? Is if we keep this thing going…’ I think there’s… it would have to be that we would all do it together. I don’t want it to be with a different director if we did it again."

CITY ON FIRE---Apple TV+ cancelled the series.

VERTIGO---Robert Downey, Jr. commented on his plan to remake the classic Alfred Hitchcock movie, "We are certainly looking into it. You know why? Exactly! Not even risky. Advisably ridiculous to even consider. Great, let’s look into it! First of all, who would our partners be in it? Love them, respect them. Second of all, let me reread the original synopsis. I think we can do better. [Laughs.] I’ll tell you why. I have been rock climbing before and gotten stuck in that panic freeze, and if not for the sheer embarrassment, I would have asked to have been hoisted off that rock. I lost my confidence in my positioning, the drop was too far, my body reacted. It wasn’t fight-or-flight; it was freeze-and-about-to-faint. I’ll never forget it, and it made me think there are cinematic devices that have yet to be fully utilized that I think would provide an experience in trying to say, “What does it feel like to be psychologically silly with fear over something that should be manageable?” That might be entertaining."

VERTIGO-FOTOR.jpg

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-DEAD RECKONING PART ONE---Paul Schrader (TAXI DRIVER, RAGING BULL) commented on the sequel, "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE DEAD RECKONING. Such tiresome claptrap. There's no reason that AI, given the correct prompts, could not have written this script."

BLACK WIDOW---Emily Blunt commented on turning down the role that went to Scarlett Johansson because Blunt had a schedule problem, “It was a bit of a heartbreaker for me because I take such pride in the decisions that I make, and they mean so much to me, the films that I do, so that was tough. They [Fox] kind of have a bit of a hold over you. There were other movies that I would want to do.”
She denied rumors she turned the Marvel roles of Captain Marvel, Peggy Carter and Sue Storm, “Rumors. Talk. Queries. That kind of thing.”

MEET ME AT THE LAKE---a British tabloid claims Prince Harry Harry and Meghan Markle bought the movie rights to the romance novel about a Toronto couple in their 30s.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel was CASINO ROYALE. Producers Gregory Ratoff and Michael Garrison bought the movie rights for $600. They later bought the rights in perpetuity for an additional $6,000 and unsuccessfully attempted to make a movie with 20th Century Fox. After Ratoff's death in 1960, his widow and Garrison sold the movie rights to producer/agent Charles K. Feldman, who released his CASINO ROYALE movie starring Peter Sellers, David Niven Ursula Andress and Woody Allen, in 1967.
Garrison was still interested in a spy project which led to his offer of a Western spy tv series, which would be a "James Bond on horseback", to CBS. The tv series, THE WILD WILD WEST, was a big hit starring Robert Conrad and Ross Martin. The tv series was followed by two tv movie sequels and a remake movie starring Will Smith.

BLADE RUNNER 2049---Ridley Scott said he regrets choosing to direct ALIEN: COVENANT instead of BLADE RUNNER 2049, "I shouldn’t have had to make that decision. But I had to. I should have done BLADE RUNNER 2.”
Scott also commented on the tv series BLADE RUNNER 2099, “I’m one of the producers. It’s all set years on. To me, it circles the idea of Aldous Huxley’s BRAVE NEW WORLD.”

BLADE-RUNNER-FOTOR.jpg

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE---Adam Devine thinks the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ruined comedy movies, “You watch comedies nowadays and you’re like, this is not a f*cking comedy. Where are the jokes? Where are the bits? There’s still good [comedy] shows, but movie comedy…it’s hard.
My theory: I think Marvel ruined it. I feel like superhero movies ruined comedies because you go to the theater and you expect to watch something that cost $200 million to make, and comedy movies aren’t that. So you’re like, ‘Why would I spend the same amount of money to go watch a little comedy in the theater if I can spend that and watch something that is worth $200 million?’"
He added. "And they still make those movies kind of funny, like, ‘Oh my god, is that raccoon talking? This is hilarious!’ Which it is, but it’s not a real comedy.
Every studio used to put out several comedies a year, and there were like 45 comedies in the theater per year. So every week or so, there’s a new comedy in the theaters. Now, last year, there was like 6 or 7. It’s crazy.”

BASIC INSTINCT---Sharon Stone said her BASIC INSTINCT leg-crossing scene is tame by current standards, “You see so little of anything in this film, actually. And now we see men with full frontal nudity on television. But still we look at that film as such a scandalous, controversial moment in filmmaking. And really, it’s quite benign by comparison to almost anything you see now.”

BASIC-INSTINCT-FOTOR.jpg

TALK 2 ME---A24 confirmed the TALK TO ME sequel is underway with co-directors Danny and Michael Philippou returning.

TALK-2-ME-FOTOR.jpg

ROBOCOP RETURNS---Neill Blomkamp commented on his proposed sequel to the Paul Verhoeven original that was never filmed, “That’s the only film that I would have ever done where I would have tried to basically simulate Paul Verhoeven’s directing style. wanted it to feel like it was the day after. Like if Dick Jones fell out of the window on Monday, this would have been Tuesday. It was like literally the next morning that it began. So it was a direct sequel exactly in the same style.”

SUICIDE SQUAD---David Ayer said DC Studios co-head James Gunn told him the director's cut, the "Ayer cut", “would have its time to be shared”, but Ayer did not elaborate.

TRIVIA---August 6, 2023 was the 30th anniversary of THE FUGITIVE, the movie based on the David Janssen 1960s tv show about a doctor trying to elude the law after being wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife. The movie starred Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble and Tommy Lee Jones as Deputy US Marshal Samuel Gerard.
Jones had low expectations for the movie, “I remember being in the giant basement of that hotel, surrounded by hanging bags of laundry. I was standing there speaking out to Harrison’s character. And there was nothing there except big bags of laundry. And I remember thinking in the back of my mind, ‘I’ll never work again. This is never going to work. And the best thing I can do is be as clear, concise, and coherent as possible, deliver these lines as cleanly and dutifully as possible, and maybe I’ll get another job one day, somewhere down the line.’”
Co-star Daniel Roebuck said Harrison Ford also felt THE FUGITIVE was going to be a box office bomb, “Harrison Ford said in front of me when we were in the water, so I can attest that he said it. He goes, ‘Oh, man, this is going to be my HUDSON HAWK.’”
THE FUGITIVE was a huge box office hit and held the record for the biggest August premiere for six years. Film critic Roger Ebert said THE FUGITIVE was #4 on his list of best movies of 1993. The movie was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won one----Tommy Lee Jones won an Oscar for Best Supporting actor.

BARBIE---Bill Maher posted his comments on the $1 billion+ hit movie, "OK, "Barbie": I was hoping it wouldn't be preachy, man-hating, and a #ZombieLie - alas, it was all three. What is a Zombie Lie? Something that never was true, but certain people refuse to stop saying it (tax cuts for the rich increase revenues, e.g.); OR something that USED to be true but no longer is, but certain people pretend it's still true. "Barbie" is this kind of #ZombieLie.
Spoiler alert, Barbie fights the Patriarchy. Right up to the Mattel board who created her, consisting of 12 white men! The Patriarchy! Except there's a Mattel board in real life, and it's 7 men and 5 women. OK, not perfect even-steven, but not the way the board IN THE MOVIE - which takes place in 2023 - is portrayed. And not really any longer deserving of the word "patriarchy." Yes, there was one, and remnants of it remain - but this movie is so 2000-LATE.
At one point the Barbies have to win over the Kens, and they are told to do it by pretending to act helpless and not know how to do stuff. Helen Gurley Brown called, she wants her premise back. Yes, that WAS a thing. I saw "Barbie" with a woman in her 30s who said, "I don't know a single woman of any age who would act like that today."
I know, I know, 'How could I know about the patriarchy, I AM a man!' That argument is so old and so silly. Of course, none of us can know exactly what others go through life, but I can see the world around me, and I can read data. The real Mattel board is a pretty close mirror of the country, where 45% of the 449 board seats filled last year in Fortune 500 companies were women. Truth is, I'm not the one who's out of step - I'm living in the year we're living in. Barbie is fun, I enjoyed it - but it IS a #ZombieLie. And people who don't go along with zombie lies did not take some red pill - just staying true to CURRENT reality. Let's live in the year we're living in! Hi Ken!!! #BarbieMovie".

PREY 2---director Dan Trachtenberg commented on a sequel to the PREDATOR prequel, “I can’t really say anything about that right now, but I’ll say while we were finishing the movie, we were having really exciting conversations. The studio, myself, the writer, and the producers about what crazy things could we do next. And I’ve never stopped, no one stopped thinking about how cool things could be going forward.”

WALT DISNEY COMPANY---the Walt Disney Company has reportedly set up an AI task force to explore the use of AI in its entire entertainment franchise.

FBI: MOST WANTED---Alexa Davalos is not returning for Season 5 after a producer told her at the end of filming Season 4 that she would not be coming back.

GAME OF THRONES---Liam Cunningham commented on the status of the Jon Snow spinoff starring Kit Harington, “I did send [Kit] a text saying, ‘Better Call Davos.’ I haven’t heard anything back. I wish them the best to whoever’s involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!”

SUPERMAN & LOIS---CW entertainment head Brad Schwartz said the series might return for additional seasons.

TRIVIA---in the original THE THING, Kenneth Tobey played US Air Force pilot Capt. Pat Hendry and Robert Cornthwaite played Dr. Arthur Carrington. Hendry and Carrington clashed over if the giant alien, found frozen near its flying saucer that crashed in the North Pole, should be thawed out.
In World War II, Tobey was a rear gunner on a B-25 Mitchell bomber in the Pacific Theater, and Cornthwaite was a waist gunner/radioman on a B-25 in the Mediterranean Theater.

THE DARK TOWER---Mike Flanagan (DOCTOR SLEEP) commented on the status of his project, which reportedly includes a five-season tv series and two movies, based on the Stephen King novels, "I feel really good about where we are. Oddly, where we are at the moment is completely frozen, because of the strike, but we had a wonderful spring with it and we’re making enormous progress on it. And I have every reason to believe that on the other side of the strike, it’s gonna be priority #1.
We have great partners on it that I can’t talk about, and we’ve got some really exciting actors circling on it that I can’t talk about, and we have some potentially groundbreaking approaches to the filmmaking of it that I just can’t really talk about … but what I can say is that my fears that any momentum we had developed was gonna be obliterated [by the strike], well, I don’t really worry about that.”

TRIVIA---in George Pal's 1953 THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, Paul Birch played Alonzo Hogue, one of the three men who were the first victims of the Martian Heat-Ray. Several years later, Birch became the first widely-publicized "Cowboy" Marlboro Man in tv and magazine ads.

The studios are state of the art and vie with anything we have in Hollywood. And I have an idea for a sequel I would set here in the UK. There are lots of ghosts and mythical creatures in Scotland. There’s a lot of interest to kind of explore Haiti, what’s happening in Haiti. There’s [sequel] talks focusing on Haiti.”
Monteverde commented on false accusations that he and the movie are connected to Q-anon, “I was like really sick. I was like, ‘This is all wrong. That’s not true.’ It was heartbreaking when I saw all this polemic and all this controversy going on. My instinct was to run. I want to hide. I don’t want to give any more interviews. Before the movie came out, I did a couple of interviews. Look, when you hire people, what they do on the free time, I can’t control. I was a director. I wrote the screenplay. I hired the actor I thought was the best for this film. The subject matter was very personal to him. [Jim Caviezel] adopted three children from China. When we met and discussed the project, he broke down in tears. And I was like, ‘Wow, this guy’s gonna be willing to die on the set.’ And that’s what you want, you know? You want somebody who works for you. And he dove in.”

BARBIE---the movie has earned $1.8 billion worldwide which makes it the top-earning female-directed movie live-action movie ever. MEG 2: THE TRENCH was #2 with $257 million worldwide. THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER premiered with a dismal $6.5 million.
After Margot Robbie said Gal Gadot was her first choice to play Barbie, Gadot said, “I adore Margot…Margot is one of those women who you just want to be friends with…She is so funny, warm, fun and smart and obviously so talented. She brings so much to the table. I would love to do anything with Margot and was very touched [by her comments]. She warmed my heart with everything that she said about me. I’m super excited for them, and I’m so excited for Barbie.”

CHEERS---co-creator James Burrows commented on a possible revival after the FRASIER revival, “No. No, you’re not going to touch that. We talked about going on after Ted [Danson] left and we said, ‘No, this is it. Wrap it up, put it out there on a satellite TV and [syndication], and let people enjoy it.'”

THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON---showrunner Greg Nicotero commented on the spinoff's mutant zombies, "These zombies have mutated to a point where if they touch or bite you or their blood gets on you, it burns you significantly. It changes all the rules."

JURASSIC PARK 3D---the movie will return in RealD 3D-equipped theaters for its 30th anniversary on August 25.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.

In THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, Fortune played an officer on the submarine HMS Ranger, who is killed leading an attack on the control center onboard Bond villain Karl Stromberg's supertanker, Liparus. THE BLIND SIDE---ex-NFL player Michael Oher filed a lawsuit against his adoptive parents, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, claiming they tricked him into a consevatorship in which they controlled all of his assets. The book based on the story was the inspiration for the Academy Award-nominated THE BLIND SIDE which starred Sandra Bullock. Oher claims the Tuohy family made millions of dollars from the movie, but he got nothing. The lawsuit demands the conservatorship be ended and he receive financial compensation. Sean Tuohy replied to the lawsuit, “We’re devastated. It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children. But we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16...We didn’t make any money off the movie. Well, Michael Lewis [THE BLIND SIDE book author] gave us half of his share. Everybody in the family got an equal share, including Michael. It was about $14,000, each.”

BARBIE---Margot Robbie will make about $50 million in salary and bonuses based on the movie's earnings of almost $1.2 billion.

DREAM SCENARIO---Nicolas Cage stars in this movie about a professor who becomes a huge celebrity after he appears in everybody's dreams.

HOLLYWOOD---writer Charlie Kaufman (BEING JOHN MALKOVICH) commented on the present state of Hollywood movies, “At this point, the only thing that makes money is garbage. It’s just fascinating. It makes a fortune, and that’s the bottom line. It’s very seductive to the studios but also to the people who engage and become the makers of that garbage, especially if they’re lauded for the garbage because they don’t have to look inward or think long about what they’re doing."

TRIVIA---in the hit World War I movie THE BLUE MAX which starred George Peppard, Ursula Andress and James Mason, Carl Schell played the legendary German ace Manfred von Richthofen, the "Red Baron". Schell's younger brother was Academy Award-winner Maximilian Schell (JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG), and his older sister was Maria Schell, best known to American audiences for playing Vond-Ah in SUPERMAN.

SNOW WHITE---Rachel Zegler, star of Disney's remake of the classic 1937 animated movie, created a controversy when she said she does not like the original movie, "I think i watched it once and never picked it up again. I'm being so serious."
Zegler said her remake will be an improvement, "I just mean that it's no longer 1937. We absolutely wrote a SNOW WHITE that...she's not going to be saved by the prince, and she's not going to be dreaming about true love; she's going to be dreaming about the leader she knows she can be and that her late father told her that she could be a fearless, fair, brave and true."
She quipped that co-star Andrew Burnap's scenes as Prince Charming "could get cut. Who knows? It's Hollywood, baby."
Branding expert Carla Speight said Zegler's comments could be very harmful to Disney's bottom line, "Whilst it's been clear that the original Disney Princess films hold old values, Disney have fallen for the trap of going to the opposite extreme to inflict strong and loaded messaging on the viewers — believing that's empowerment.
There was a time when Disney actors were media trained and were thoughtful about the impact of their words, whilst sticking to key messaging about the films, but it seems with this total rewrite of SNOW WHITE, picturing her as a 'boss girl' has gone to the heads of their stars.
Disney will need to be careful with how they have portrayed Snow White and what they do and don't allow their actors to say about it going forwards. They simply cannot repeat the same mistakes and allow their actors to be so vocal in their own personal opinions during promotions.
It can have a huge impact on ticket sales, especially with the amount of negative backlash so early in the promo trail.
They need to get the key messaging and strong selling point into a brief for the cast of the film and ensure they stick to it. If they don't, it's a disaster waiting to happen and the backlash will keep growing."
Disney executive are reportedly holding "crisis talks" on how to deal with Zegler's comments.

THE LAST OF US---showrunner Craig Mazin commented on Season 2 which will have a bigger budget than Season 1, "...I’m very studiously avoiding confirming anything even through a passive acceptance of a question. Anybody that has played the game and then watched the first season knows that sometimes we do exactly what happened to the game and sometimes we do something wildly different. We also don’t necessarily do things in the same order, or at the same time. In our first season, we repeatedly did things that were upsetting — everyone died except Joel and Ellie. People understood watching the show that this was a story where people aren’t safe."

INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY---DIAL OF DESTINY could lose $100 million. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-DEAD RECKONING PART ONE could also lose $100 million, but its positive reviews and long-term earnings means it has a better chance of making a profit. Both sequels had huge budgets (DIAL OF DESTINY--$300 million and DEAD RECKONING--$290 million) which hurt their chances of being profitable.

ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING---creator Jim Hoffman said there is a good possibility that there will be a Season 4, “As many [seasons] as they’ll have us for! I really mean it. This is one of those shows [where] everyone involved in it is so happy doing it – and I know I speak for the trio and everyone else.
When you have lightning in a bottle in this way, and then there’s this magnetizing force of incredible talent who say, ‘Wow, that looks like fun. I would love to be a part of that.’ I hope it gives it a good long life.”

TRIVIA---Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic line "I'll be back" from THE TERMINATOR was No. 37 on the American Film Institute's 100 Years--100 Movie Quotes in 2005.
Schwarzenegger commented on the line, "I think about how it was an accident. Jim Cameron and I were debating how to say the line because I was not comfortable with saying 'I’ll.' I said, 'I think it’s stronger to say, ‘I will be back.’ Cameron said, 'Are you the scriptwriter now? It’s just one word. Don’t tell me how to write. I don’t tell you how to act.' I said, 'You tell me how to act every f*cking minute! What are you talking about?!' So he says, 'Arnold, you think it sounds weird. It doesn’t. What makes it great is that you sound different than me or Charlie over there. That’s what makes it work. So just say it 10 times. Say it different ways. I’ll keep rolling the camera. Then we’ll choose one.' So they set it up, and I say: '(Flatly) I’ll be back … (cheerful) I’ll be back! … (guttural) I’ll beeee baaaack …' It sounded stupid."
Schwarzenegger added, "The movie comes out. I’m in Central Park. This guy comes up and says, 'Say the line!' … Now, a few days ago, I was skiing in Aspen, and the concierge comes up asking me to say the line. So that’s where it started and where it ended up. It’s wild. I’m the last one to get complicated and say, 'I don’t want to compare myself to my movies or use a line from my movies.' Hell, Clint Eastwood takes the clothes from his movies and that’s all he wears. So why would I be worried about using a line?"

THE BLIND SIDE---after former NFL player Michael Oher filed a lawsuit claiming he was never really adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy and they financially exploited him, there have been calls for Sandra Bullock, who played Leigh Anne Tuohy, to return her Academy Award or it should be revoked. Co-star Quinton Aaron, who played Michael Oher, commented, "I really feel like we live in a society today where people are so hellbent on pointing blame on people. To make a statement like that doesn't make any sense. Sandra Bullock didn't have anything to do with the real story that we're reading as of right now."
A source close to Bullock commented on Oher's lawsuit, “There was so much hard work put into the film that they all thought was the truth and now that has been questioned, it just upsets Sandra to no end that a time in her life that was so special, is now shadowed with a completely different perspective. Sandra is putting up a strong face and a strong front as it has been a rough patch for her emotionally with the loss of Bryan [Bullock's partner, Bryan Randall, recently died of ALS], and now she is heartbroken in a different way with all the fallout from the Michael Oher news.”

BLIND-SIDE-3-A-FOTOR.jpg

MAESTRO---complaints of Bradley Cooper wearing a prosthetic nose, referred to as "Jewface", in the Leonard Bernstein biomovie has led to criticism. British actress Tracy-Ann Oberman posted, “If he needs to wear a prosthetic nose then that is, to me and many others, the equivalent of Black-Face or Yellow-Face,”
Bernstein's children, Jamie, Alexander and Nina, replied, “It breaks our hearts, to see any misrepresentations or misunderstandings of his efforts. It happens to be true that Leonard Bernstein had a nice, big nose. Bradley chose to use makeup to amplify his resemblance, and we’re perfectly fine with that.”
The Bernsteins added the “strident complaints” are “disingenuous attempts to bring a successful person down a notch – a practice we observed all too often perpetrated on our own father.”

MAESTRO-FOTOR.jpg

SOUND OF FREEDOM---director Alejandro Monteverde and co-writer Rod Barr denied the movie about child-trafficking is connected to QAnon, "The movie has also been unjustly associated with certain extreme conspiracy theories. We wrote the movie in 2015 and shot it in 2018, well before anyone involved had ever heard of such theories. It is therefore literally impossible for the movie to reference these theories, and anyone who has seen the movie knows it does not. In fact, NPR, Rolling Stone and just about every other media outlet that has written about the movie, either positively or negatively, has made it clear in their stories that Sound of Freedom itself doesn’t contain any references to conspiracy theories. We took our inspiration from actual events, many of which were reported by major media outlets at the time."

OBI-WAN KENOBI---director Deborah Chow commented on a possible sequel to the miniseries, "Ewan and I finished our very last shot on second unit, and I was literally taking off my headphones, he was already pitching me ideas for Season 2. There’s another 10 years with plenty of stories, and I don’t think it’s off the board. It is a 'never say never' situation, but we really did conceive this to be a limited series."

FARGO---photo of Juno Temple starring in Season 5.

FARGO-2-A-FOTOR.jpg

LAST OF US---showrunner Craig Mazin was asked if he had chosen who will play Abby in Season 2, "Maybe" (laughs). He added, “The strike stopped us in our tracks. Things were in process. Look, Abby was the first role that we wanted to tackle. We’ve got a pretty good track record of making major cast announcements and people going, ‘Really?’ which will probably continue. So people may disagree, but I think we got it right so far and the audience seems to feel we got it right and the Academy seems to feel we got it right.”

OFFICE RACE---photo and synopsis released from the Comedy Central comedy movie starring Beck Bennett, Kelsey Grammer, Joel McHale and Alyson Hannigan, “OFFICE RACE centers around an unambitious office worker (Beck Bennett) who goes to great lengths — specifically 26.2 miles — to one up his exercise-obsessed, micromanaging boss (Joel McHale)."

TRIVIA---Margot Robbie will make about $50 million from the huge success of BARBIE, and she also received an offer of $318,300 for photos of her feet from Liz, the creator of Fun With Feet, a website for people who buy and sell photos of their feet. The letter said,

"Dear Margot,

My name is Liz and I make thousands selling feet pics on Fun With Feet… I also look a lot like you. Barbie is all women, but we really are Barbie - Stereotypical Barbie, anyway.
I would love to collaborate with you on some Barbie-inspired content that’ll earn us both millions. Plus, Fun with Feet are offering to pay you £250K as a starting bonus. If I’m right, we’ll be able to capitalise on our likeness - and the world’s obsession with all-things Barbie - to no end, all thanks to our feet!
Fun With feet is the best feet seller platform online and as a lot of my customers already come to me because I look like margot (and Barbie) 2.0, I know our partnership would be hugely popular. Stereotypical Barbie’s feet are an insane earner, trust me.
Another huge perk to online foot content is that you can continue to passively earn money from it. As we know, humans only have one ending, ideas live forever.
If you would be at all interested in working with me, contact the Fun with Feet team and we can twin on some blockbuster foot content!
We were made for this!

Much love,

Liz x (sic)"

Liz also made a similar offer to Ryan Gosling, who played Ken in BARBIE, "If you would be interested in co-creating some amazing Ken and Barbie-themed foot content and earning millions from our collab, I'd love to set up a foot-fetish-friendly Kenland--a utopia for my customers..."

Earlier, Robbie said she was surprised at the public's fascination with her feet, "The very first time I googled myself, You know how when you type something into google and it predicts what the rest of it’s gonna be? I had started working and I was on things and I hadn’t googled myself before and so I wrote in ‘Margot Robbie’… and before I finished writing in ‘Robbie,’ ‘Margot Robbie Feet’ came up. And I was like ‘Margot Robbie Feet?’ That’s weird’ and I clicked on it and realized that there was, you know like, pictures zoomed in of my feet, and people were writing about it. Someone made a video compilation of footage of my feet."
She added, "And I was like ‘Oh wow! This is a thing, I didn’t realize!’ And since then you know I’ve been lucky enough to be apart of iconic films, and there’s been some shots of my feet which I think had only encouraged this notion. I have to say, I’m really flattered that people are excited about my feet."

That is ridiculously low. I heard it’s way higher. There was a VARIETY report that she’s going to get $50M dollars in Barbie, it’s actually more than that."

TWISTER---director Jan de Bont said he is not involved with the sequel to his 1996 hit movie, but he said the original used more practical special effects, “When things fell from the sky, there were real things falling from a helicopter. If you film a car escaping a tornado in a hail storm, it was real ice that came at us. It’s a movie that cannot be remade… That would never, ever happen again.”
He said about the sequel that will be directed by Lee Issac Chung, “I want to have somebody else see [Twisters] first. It might be a really different approach. That’s the same with [Greta Gerwig] of BARBIE. Nobody would ever have thought she’d direct that movie and make it so successful.”
The sequel stars Glen Powell and Daisy-Edgar Jones.

THE NUN---actress Bonnie Aarons filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery claiming the studio hid money from her because her likeness was a big factor in the movie's success in gross receipts and merchandising. Aarons said she only received $71,500.

THE BLIND SIDE---THE BLIND SIDE book author Michael Lewis commented on ex-NFL Michael Oher's lawsuit against the Tuohy family in a WASHINGTON POST interview, "Lewis said the Tuohys planned to share the royalties among the family members, including Oher, but Oher began declining his royalty checks...Lewis said he believed the Tuohy family had deposited Oher’s share in a trust fund for Oher’s son.” Lewis said he was paid $250,000 for the movie rights which he split 50/50 with the Tuohys.

HERCULE POIROT---producer James Pritchard said there might more Hercule Poirot movies beyond the current three, "If Ken [Branagh] wants to do more, and Michael [Green] wants to write more, we’ll certainly do another. There’s a lot of material still to go, so we’re not going to run out of inspiration.”

SNOW WHITE---David Hand, a former Walt Disney designer and son of the director of the 1937 SNOW WHITE, commented on Rachel Zegler's criticism of the 1937 classic, “I mean, it’s a whole different concept, and I just totally disagree with it, and I know my dad and Walt would also very much disagree with it. I think it’s pathetic that people feel that way… these are art forms in the world of film today.
They change the stories, they change the thought processes of the characters, they just aren’t the original stories anymore. They’re making up new woke things and I’m just not into any of that. I find it quite frankly, a bit insulting that they may have done with some of these classic films.
There’s no respect for what Disney did and what my dad did…I think Walt and he would be turning in their graves.”
Hand repeated comments from other Disney critics who want the studio to concentrate on new movies and not remakes, “Pick on something else… create new characters, if you’re gonna do this, but don’t destroy or try to destroy something that is, that is a classic and is a beautiful piece.”

SNOW-WHITE-1-FOTOR.jpg

AMAZON PRIME---Amazon Prime reversed its decision to renew THE PERIPHERALS and A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN for a shortened Season 2. A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN co-creator/actress Abbi Jacobson commented on the cancellation, “What luck I have had to get to tell these stories and play this character I love so much. What a rare thing in life. And so I am sad today. To blame this cancellation on the strike is bull***** and cowardly. But this post isn’t about all that. About all the ways this show has been put through the ringer. Not today.
This post here is about the special show I was lucky to make with so many incredibly talented artists and actors and writers and crew. A show I’m so proud of. Filled to the brim with stories worth telling. Full of so much heart and soul and value. Thank you for watching.”

THOR 5---Taika Waititi commented on the villain if a fifth movie is made, "...It’s got to be something that feels like it’s carrying on with the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way and still giving him things to come up against that feel like they’re building on the obstacles that he has to overcome. I don’t think we can have a villain that’s weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to step up from there and add a villain that’s somehow more formidable.”
He added, “There’s a fun element to [Thor] and he has a casualness and a sort or swagger about him when he visits these worlds and encounters these aliens that I don’t think you’d get when it’s an earthling traveling through space exploring the universe.”

SUITS---creator Aaron Korsh denied rumors a revival is underway, “Let me say right off that there is no #Suits reboot or anything in the works. Strike would have to end, some network or streamer would have to reach out and then we would have to collectively want to. Which is no small thing…”

JOHN LENNON---a source claims a John Lennon movie is underway with Yoko Ono as a producer/consultant and the casting call is for, “a caucasian actor in his early to mid-30s with the ability to sing, have moderate experience in playing the guitar, and be fine with nudity.” The source adds, “The film would focus on the immediate period after the Beatles breakup, tackling Lennon’s solo career and his relationship with Yoko Ono.”

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
In the first 16 official James Bond movies, Bond wore watches from Rolex, Seiko, Breitling, Tag Heuer and Gruen. Beginning with GOLDENEYE, Pierce Brosnan's first Bond movie, 007 wore an Omega Seamaster Professional 300M, and in all later Bond movies, 007 continued to wear an Omega.
Lindy Hemming, the costume designer for GOLDENEYE, explained her choosing Omega, “There was no product placement incentive in 1995 whatsoever, I went to them, and of course they were interested. But it was no more than helping us. They gave us the watches for nothing.”
She added, "My father had been in the Royal Air Force, but was friendly with navy men. I remember as a child one often visiting us and he always wore this Omega, which fascinated me, with its unusually sporty design, looking as though it was built for purpose. It’s the small details that really matter.”
Hemming continued, “I went to a props and hand props meeting and argued for the use of Omega... I was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver, and a discreet gentleman of the world, would wear this watch...Omega was perfect for a naval commander who dived and rescued people.”
Although it is not known how much Omega pays to have its watches worn by James Bond, in SKYFALL, Heineken reportedly paid $45 million to have a seven-second scene in which Bond drinks Heineken beer. Omega commented on its participation in the lucrative product placement of the Bond movies, "...and the James Bond franchise has never been about product placement."

[Laughs] Nothing is off the table, we’re always exploring different ideas and different things in this co-view series [THE SNOOPY SHOW] that we’ve done, which touched upon the environment, the love for teachers, Mother’s Day, and how it interacts with enough people. All those subjects are just really fun, and as you know, the PEANUTS universe is sort of endless.
There are so many great characters to work with, there’s so many great themes to work with that we explore everything, and I don’t know that a movie is off the table. I would like to see one come back, but keep your fingers crossed, we will see.”

TRIVIA---Ray Liotta commented on turning down the chance to star in Tim Burton's BATMAN, "SOMETHING WILD came out, so I was getting attention from that. My agent called me up and said, ‘Tim Burton would like to meet you. He’s doing a movie, BATMAN. There were never any superhero movies then. That was pretty much the first one. I said, ‘Are you f*cking nuts? BATMAN?!’ I’m going, ‘No, that’s stupid.’ Who was stupid? I was stupid because I didn’t know."
He added, "I've been watching some of these superhero movies and I'm kind of glad I've never done 'em. Some of them are just horrendous...It's one-note. They don't seem to care a lick about story. It's just jumping from one set-piece to another."
Liotta said he was a fan of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, "But you could really make an intelligent superhero movie - kind of like they did with the Batman that Christian Bale did. There was a little more story going on."

THE LAST OF US---showrunner Craig Mazin commented on possible spinoffs, "We haven’t talked about that specifically because we’re so focused on just telling this main narrative. I’m not against the idea of other shows that may draw from these characters or that world. I don’t know how much more Last of Us I personally would be able to do. I mean, these shows are so big, I’m sort of burning one of the precious few remaining decades I have on telling this story. But in principle, I have no issue with it whatsoever. And I’m sure Neil would be interested as well.If there was something that made sense, then I don’t see why not. My great hope is that if there is anything like that, that it’s done with as much care and respect and love as what we are applying to this series right now."

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS---David Ayer said he received nothing after rewriting the original movie's screenplay, “Biggest franchise in Hollywood, and I don’t have any of it. I got nothing to show for it, nothing, because of the way the business works.
When I got that script, that s**t was set in New York, it was all Italian kids, right? I’m like, ‘Bro, I’m not gonna take it unless I can set it in L.A. and make it look like the people I know in L.A., right?’ So then I started, like, writing in people of color, and writing in the street stuff, and writing in the culture, and no one knew s— about street racing at the time. I went to a shop in the Valley and met with like the first guys that were doing the hacking of the fuel curves for the injectors and stuff like that, and they had just figured it out and they were showing it, and I’m like, ‘Oh f— yeah, I’m gonna put that in the movie.’“
He added many people think he “didn’t do s**t” on the billion-dollar franchise, “It’s like people hijack narratives, control narratives, create narratives to empower themselves, right? And because I was always an outsider and because, like, I don’t go to the f—ing parties. I don’t go to the meals, I don’t do any of that stuff. The people that did were able to control and manage narratives because they’re socialized in that part of the problem. I was never socialized in that part of the problem so I was always like the dark, creative dude, beware.“

PRISCILLA---Sofia Coppola said she unsuccessfully tried to get Elvis Presley's original music for the Priscilla Presley biomovie from Elvis Presley Enterprises, “They don’t like projects that they haven’t originated, and they’re protective of their brand. But that made us be more creative.”

AND JUST LIKE THAT---Max renewed the series for Season 3.

STXFILMS---STXfilms and Lionsgate are developing tv shows based on the movies BAD MOMS (Mila Kunis) and HUSTLERS (Jennifer Lopez).

TRIVIA---when AIRPLANE! creators David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams picked Paramount Pictures as the studio to film their spoof movie, Paramount head Michael Eisner wanted them to hire singer-songwriter Barry Manilow to play heroic pilot Ted Striker. Fortunately, the Zuckers and Abrahams prevailed, and they picked Robert Hays for the starring role.
