ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN---Tim Burton will direct the remake of the 1958 cult classic sci fi movie. The original movie's synopsis says, “Turned into a giantess by an alien, a woman (Allison Hayes) finds her husband (William Hudson) in a bar with a floozy (Yvette Vickers)”. Gillian Flynn will write the remake screenplay. The 1993 HBO remake movie starred Daryl Hannah.
STAR TREK---Noah Hawley said he was developing a STAR TREK movie about a galactic pandemic with an all-star cast, “Right, I was going to make a STAR TREK movie with Cate Blanchett and Rami Malek. You coulda had that, America… Planet Earth.”
Hawley commented on why the movie was cancelled, “What I found with STAR TREK was I got onto the runway, and then there was a managerial changeover. In retrospect, it’s not that they killed the movie. It’s that I got as far as I did with a wholly original idea until someone said, ‘Well, wait a minute, what are we even doing with this valuable IP? Just giving it to him to make up a story? That’s not how corporate filmmaking works.’ So, if the call came in to do a big franchise film again, it would have to come with a sense of, ‘We want you to do your version of it.’ “
BEETLEJUICE 2---poster released for the sequel whose title is BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE.
THE LAST SHOWGIRL---Jamie Lee Curtis, Pamela Anderson, Billie Lourd and Dave Bautista will star in the Gia Coppola movie about a Las Vegas showgirl in her 50s who must decide what to do with her life after her show ends after 30 years and rekindle her relationship with her estranged daughter.

DEEP COVER---Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean and Ian McShane will star in the Amazon Prime action comedy movie whose synopsis says, “Three improv actors hired by the police to help stage low-level stings. Their instinct to ‘always say yes’ without breaking character leads them deep inside the London criminal underworld.”
SIX TRIPLE EIGHT---photo released of Kerry Washington starring in the Tyler Perry movie about the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion which was the only black WAC unit stationed overseas in World War II.
WILDER & ME---Christoph Waltz will play director Billy Wilder in the Stephen Frears movie based on the novel. Maya Hawke, Jon Hamm and John Turturro co-star.
KLARA AND THE SUN---Amy Adams is in negotiations to co-star with Jenna Ortega in the Taiki Waititi sci fi movie.

TRIVIA---Groundhog Day is February 2, 2024.
In the 1993 comedy GROUNDHOG DAY, Ken Hudson Campbell played the Man in the Hallway. Campbell's first and most famous movie role was in HOME ALONE as Santa Clause.
Campbell was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2023. His daughter, Michaela, said, “It’s called squamous cell carcinoma. It was a big tumor in his mouth. The last two years he's gotten lots of biopsies done, and they've tried to control it. And it was only this year that it just got very, very aggressive. So when he got his biopsy in October, that is when we got the diagnosis.”
She added, “He lost his health insurance with SAG (Screen Actors Guild), and he had to stop going to the same doctors that he had been going to for a while about his mouth. And it discouraged him a little bit and he just didn't really check on it...I think it was really shocking for us because we thought he was taking care of it, at least I did. It was really hard for me to hear, and I had a hard time emotionally. My dad, he was just in shock about it all...I think the hardest part of this is going to be him losing his speech and his ability to talk. So speech therapy is going to play a big role in it."
In late 2023, Campbell underwent a 10-hour surgical procedure in which his jaw bone was removed and replaced with a substitute created from his leg bone. To help pay for the costs, the family started a GoFundMe page, and Campbell was "overwhelmed" when the donations exceeded the $100,000 goal. Celebrity contributors included BIG BANG THEORY co-creator Bill Prady, Steve Carell and Tim Meadows.
Michaela said about the donations and messages her father received, “The first day we posted it, every time he read something, he would just burst into tears. It was the first time he really got emotional about the whole situation. It was kind of a shock to him to feel so loved...It really means the world. My family's been struggling for a long time financially. So just having my dad's friends come together, this is just very overwhelming and it really takes a lot of stress off of my family's shoulders.”
