Ha ha!! Too true!!! {sm4}{sm4} This franchise is utter garbage- it didnt age well at all. Indiana Jones did and the Karate Kid (via Cobra Kai on netflix) has been simply amazing. I now look back at my formative 80's years and it was the Karate Kid movies that were the best movie franchise of that decade. Cobra Kai is my all time favorite TV show- everyone says Im out of my mind but hey, it's my opinion- one of the few things it seems I can still call my own these days.

BARBIE---Ryan Gosling commented on his Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, but co-star Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig did not receive nominations, "But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no BARBIE movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius."
Also, Oliver Stone apologized for criticizing the hit movie even though he had not seen it when he made his remarks, “At the time, I was busy promoting my nuclear documentary in Europe and had little to no knowledge of [BARBIE] beyond its title. I was able to see Barbie in a theater back in July and appreciated the film for its originality and its themes. I found the filmmakers’ approach certainly different than what I expected. I apologize for speaking ignorantly.”
Stone's original comment was, "Ryan Gosling is wasting his time if he’s doing that s*** for money. He should be doing more serious films. He shouldn’t be a part of this infantilization of Hollywood. Now it’s all fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all the war pictures: fantasy, fantasy.”

LOCKERBIE---synopsis released for the Peacock miniseries starring Colin Firth and based on the book, “In the wake of the disaster and his daughter Flora’s death, Dr. Jim Swire (Firth), is nominated spokesperson for the U.K. victims’ families, who have united to demand truth and justice. Traveling across continents and political divides, Jim embarks on a relentless journey that not only jeopardizes his stability, family and life, but completely overturns his trust in the justice system. As the truth shifts under Jim’s feet, his view of the world is left forever sullied. Exploring events from the disaster and its aftermath, LOCKERBIE provides an intimate account of a man, a husband, and a father who risks everything in memory of his daughter and the unflinching pursuit of truth and justice.”

TED LASSO---Warner Bros. TV head Channing Dungey commented on the series returning, “I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be. I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for TED LASSO. And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for TED LASSO. Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back in to making more … There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”

KICK-***---Matthew Vaughn said a new sequel is underway, “We’re halfway through it. There’s a very, very dare I say it... and it’s gonna be a cliche coming out of this head of mine. It is a very, very meta universe. It is what, you know, KICK-*** was reinventing and creating a R-rated superhero and no one was really doing it. This is taking that whole concept to a worthy…not even a sequel, because I think it’s just a whole new way of doing KICK-*** which couldn’t be more KICK-***.”

MOTHERSHIP---Netflix cancelled the Halle Berry sci fi movie that was completed two years ago and will unlikely be shopped to other outlets.

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN---Bulleseye will return for the Disney TV+ tv series.

TRIVIA---veteran character actor Gregory Walcott appeared in Steven Spielberg's first movie THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS and four Clint Eastwood movies----but he is best known for starring in Ed Wood's PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, a movie generally considered to be the worst movie ever made. Walcott said, “Ed Wood has etched my name forever in the annals of film history...I will go to my grave not remembered for those meaty roles I did for the likes of John Ford or Steven Spielberg, but as the leading man in a film that many movie historians regard as the worst of all time. It’s enough to drive a puritan to drink!”
He said when Wood first approached him to star in the movie, Wood asked, “How would you like to star alongside the legendary horror actor Bela Lugosi”, and Walcott replied, “But Bela Lugosi is dead." Lugosi died before PLAN 9 was filmed and his PLAN 9 scenes were from another Ed Wood movie that was cancelled.
Walcott turned down the role, but later accepted it as a favor to Ed Reynolds, a PLAN 9 backer and Walcott's fellow churchgoer. Walcott felt it would not harm his acting career, “I honestly thought it would only be shown out in the boondocks and no-one would ever see it.”
Late in his career, Walcott was asked about the dubious honor of starring in the worst movie ever made, “I didn’t want to be remembered for that, but it's better to be remembered for something than for nothing, don't you think?"

In PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, Gregory Walcott played alien-fighting airline pilot Jeff Trent.

Walcott would rather be remembered for his other movies which include playing C-2 Agent Pope in Clint Eastwood's THE EIGER SANCTION.

Ironically, Walcott's last role was in Tim Burton's ED WOOD biomovie in which he played a potential backer for PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE.

ROAD HOUSE---trailer released for the Amazon Prime remake movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Director Doug Liman is boycotting the Amazon Prime premiere of his remake movie because Amazon will stream it instead of a theatrical release, “When Amazon bought MGM, one of the few remaining studios making big commercial films for theatrical release they announced that they would put a billion dollars into theatrical motion pictures, releasing at least 12 a year. They touted it as ‘the largest commitment to cinemas by an internet company.’ I can tell you what they then did to me and my film ROAD HOUSE, which is the opposite of what they promised when they took over MGM.”
Liman added that he, "... signed up to make a theatrical motion picture for MGM...Because contrary to their public statements, Amazon has no interest in supporting cinemas. Amazon will exclusively stream ROAD HOUSE on Amazon’s Prime. Amazon asked me and the film community to trust them and their public statements about supporting cinemas, and then they turned around and are using Road House to sell plumbing fixtures.”

THE MEMORY POLICE---Lily Gladstone (KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON) will star in the Charlie Kaufman (BEING JOHN MALKOVICH) movie based on the sci fi novel. The novel synopsis says, “On an unnamed island off an unnamed coast, objects are disappearing: first hats, then ribbons, birds, roses—until things become much more serious. Most of the island’s inhabitants are oblivious to these changes, while those few imbued with the power to recall the lost objects live in fear of the draconian Memory Police, who are committed to ensuring that what has disappeared remains forgotten.
When a young woman who is struggling to maintain her career as a novelist discovers that her editor is in danger from the Memory Police, she concocts a plan to hide him beneath her floorboards. As fear and loss close in around them, they cling to her writing as the last way of preserving the past. GODZILLA MINUS ONE---director Takashi Yamazaki commented on a sequel to MINUS ONE, "No, no, there is no such talk at all. But I might be a little sad if someone else is chosen to direct the next Godzilla movie. When someone says, 'This is the person who will direct the next Godzilla,' I think, 'Ah!' And when someone says, 'Please do it,' I think, 'Ah!' (laughs) If I were to direct the next movie, I would like to do a sequel to this one, but since there have been two standalone Godzilla movies in a row, I think the next movie will probably have to include an enemy monster."

Strangely, Milly was the FIRST person I brought up to Peter for this role, well over a year ago, when I had only read the comics. CHRISTOPHER NOLAN---Christopher Nolan said he has no plans to return to small scale movies, "I’m drawn to working at a large scale because I know how fragile the opportunity to marshal those resources is, I know that there are so many filmmakers out there in the world who would give their eye teeth to have the resources I put together, and I feel I have the responsibility to use them in the most productive and interesting way.”

Can't blame me…Matthew [McConaughey] doesn't show up, nor would he."
NIGHT COUNTRY showrunner Issa Lopez responded to Pizzolatto, "I believe that every storyteller has a very specific, peculiar, and unique relation to the stories they create, and whatever his reactions are, he’s entitled to them. That’s his prerogative. I wrote this with profound love for the work he made and love for the people that loved it. And it is a reinvention, and it is different, and it’s done with the idea of sitting down around the fire, and [let’s] have some fun and have some feelings and have some thoughts. And anybody that wants to join is welcome."

TRUE-DETECTIVE-1-FOTOR.png

STAR WARS---Ewan McGregor commented on playing Obi-Wan Kenobi beginning with EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE, “I am happy that I am this character for a lot of people, but when these films came out, they were so disliked. That was hard. The first one was panned and we still had to make another two! It was weird to be in a film that was hammered.”
McGregor also commented on a possible Season 2 for OBI-WAN KENOBI, “I would love to do the second season, but there’s no talk of it yet. There is a lot going on at Disney.”

ERIC-NETFLIX-FOTOR.png

SUPERMAN: RED SON---Matthew Vaughn said a movie based on the comic book starring Henry Cavill might be good idea, “I thought RED SON was one of the cleverest comics I’d ever read, and the current world we’re living in, it’s certainly become a lot more relevant because ignorance causes more issues, and I think the more we learn about Russia and the Russian history...Wow, could you imagine remaking RED SON with Henry Cavill? That would be an interesting movie…“

TRIVIA---in the original STAR WARS, many actresses auditioned for the Princess Leia role including Amy Irving, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Farrah Fawcett, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Seymour, Kim Basinger, Geena Davis, Kathleen Turner, Sissy Spacek, Anjelica Huston, Cindy Williams and Terri Nun.
George Lucas, according to rumors, wanted Jodie Foster for the role, but she was forced to decline the offer due to a schedule problem. Foster commented on the rumor, "Yeah.
I was, yeah. They were going for a younger Princess Leia, but I had a conflict. I was doing a Disney movie, and I just didn't want to pull out of the Disney movie because I was already under contract, so I didn't do it. And they did an amazing job. I don't know how good I would have been."
Lucas then chose Carrie Fisher for the role because of her on-screen chemistry with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.

STAR TREK---Noah Hawley said he was developing a STAR TREK movie about a galactic pandemic with an all-star cast, “Right, I was going to make a STAR TREK movie with Cate Blanchett and Rami Malek. You coulda had that, America… Planet Earth.”
Hawley commented on why the movie was cancelled, “What I found with STAR TREK was I got onto the runway, and then there was a managerial changeover. In retrospect, it’s not that they killed the movie. It’s that I got as far as I did with a wholly original idea until someone said, ‘Well, wait a minute, what are we even doing with this valuable IP? Just giving it to him to make up a story? That’s not how corporate filmmaking works.’ So, if the call came in to do a big franchise film again, it would have to come with a sense of, ‘We want you to do your version of it.’ “

TRIVIA---Groundhog Day is February 2, 2024.
In the 1993 comedy GROUNDHOG DAY, Ken Hudson Campbell played the Man in the Hallway. Campbell's first and most famous movie role was in HOME ALONE as Santa Clause.
Campbell was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2023. His daughter, Michaela, said, “It’s called squamous cell carcinoma. It was a big tumor in his mouth. The last two years he's gotten lots of biopsies done, and they've tried to control it. And it was only this year that it just got very, very aggressive. So when he got his biopsy in October, that is when we got the diagnosis.”
She added, “He lost his health insurance with SAG (Screen Actors Guild), and he had to stop going to the same doctors that he had been going to for a while about his mouth. And it discouraged him a little bit and he just didn't really check on it...I think it was really shocking for us because we thought he was taking care of it, at least I did. It was really hard for me to hear, and I had a hard time emotionally. My dad, he was just in shock about it all...I think the hardest part of this is going to be him losing his speech and his ability to talk. So speech therapy is going to play a big role in it."
In late 2023, Campbell underwent a 10-hour surgical procedure in which his jaw bone was removed and replaced with a substitute created from his leg bone. To help pay for the costs, the family started a GoFundMe page, and Campbell was "overwhelmed" when the donations exceeded the $100,000 goal. Celebrity contributors included BIG BANG THEORY co-creator Bill Prady, Steve Carell and Tim Meadows.
Michaela said about the donations and messages her father received, “The first day we posted it, every time he read something, he would just burst into tears. It was the first time he really got emotional about the whole situation. It was kind of a shock to him to feel so loved...It really means the world. My family's been struggling for a long time financially. So just having my dad's friends come together, this is just very overwhelming and it really takes a lot of stress off of my family's shoulders.”

In the 1993 comedy GROUNDHOG DAY, Ken Hudson Campbell played the Man in the Hallway.

ARGYLLE---the Matthew Vaughn spy movie starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard bombed at the box office with only $35 million worldwide. The movie had a $200 million budget.

ARGYLLE-FOTOR.png

DUNE: PART TWO---Christopher Nolan commented on PART TWO after watching it in an early screening, "If, to me, DUNE was like STAR WARS, then DUNE TWO is THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, which is my favorite STAR WARS film. I think it’s just a great expansion of all that was introduced in the first one.”

DUNE-1-FOTOR-2.jpg

WORLD BREAKER---Milla Jovovich and Luke Evans will star in this sci fi movie whose synopsis says, “The story centers around a father and his daughter. Five years previously, a tear in the fabric of reality brought creatures to our world from an alternate dimension bent on our destruction. The father hides his daughter on an island to keep her safe, while he prepares her for survival and the battles to come. But no place is safe.”

THE CONVERSATION---Paramount Pictures is developing a female-led tv series based on the 1974 Francis Ford Coppola movie that starred Gene Hackman as a wiretapping expert caught up in a murder.

GREMLINS 3---Zach Galligan commented on a new sequel, "...I can’t really figure out why Warner Bros. would do two seasons - not one, but two seasons - of the animated series, and spend a lot of money on it, unless there was some kind of endgame. And usually the endgame for a huge studio like Warner Bros. Discovery is a live-action film. A live-action film is always where you’re going to make the most money. Super Mario Bros. just proved that!"
He added, "The endgame probably will be, I’m hoping, a third film. I don’t think it’ll be a reboot, though, because Chris Columbus has nixed that idea. He owns part of the rights."

GREMLINS-4-FOTOR-2.png

FRIENDSHIP---Paul Rudd, Tim Robinson and Kate Mara will star in this comedy movie whose synopsis says, “FRIENDSHIP centers on a mild-mannered man named Craig, whose life is perfectly balanced, with Subway sandwiches and Marvel movies, a job he enjoys and a happy homelife with a wife and son. That life is upended with the arrival into the neighborhood by a weatherman, played by Rudd. Mysterious yet friendly, macho but vulnerable, the weatherman transforms everything for Craig, but Craig’s obsessive and childlike nature threatens to ruin the friendship and possibly everything else in his life.”

HANNIBAL---Mads Mikkelsen commented on a possible revival series, "It’s no secret that all of us who were part of the cast and Bryan [Fuller], we all want to go back. It’s got to happen eventually sooner than later because we’re not getting any younger, right?
But the story itself can jump, it can have that gap, which is fine. So it’s all about finding a home for it, but that’s nothing concrete out there now.
Why that’s the case? I don’t know. We love the show and there seem to be a lot of other people liking it as well. But then I got the chance to work with him on DUST BUNNY, so I got a little whiff of the old times. He’s got a few ideas, Bryan. So I can’t really reveal any, in case we do start.”

OUTLANDER: BLOOD OF MY BLOOD---the prequel tv series will focus on Jamie's parents. The cast includes Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine.

SAW XI---Kevin Greutert is returning as the director of the latest sequel.

TRIVIA---in STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, Christian Slater had a cameo as the starship USS Excelsior communications officer who wakes up Captain Sulu to tell him Star Fleet wants to know the whereabouts of the starship USS Enterprise. Slater, a Trekkie, got the cameo because his mother, Mary Jo Slater, was the sequel's casting director. He said, "Oh yes. My mother was the casting director, so..Yeah, that was a bit of nepotism there for me. I'm not even going to kid around, I had an in, and that was it."
Slater added the uniform he wore was the same uniform worn by William Shatner in STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, "I stole the costume, by the way.I have it in a box somewhere. It was William Shatner's costume from STAR TREK II, actually...Well, I wasn't supposed to. I walked off [the set]."

JURASSIC-WORLD-FOTOR.png

AVATAR---James Cameron commented on the future of the sci fi franchise which might continue without him as director, “We’re fully written through movie five, and I’ve got ideas for six and seven, although I’ll probably be handing the baton on at that point. I mean, mortality catches up. But I mean, we’re enjoying what we’re doing. We’re loving it. We get to work with great people.”

STAR TREK---Nicolas Cage said he wants to star in STAR TREK movie, "There were a couple of phone calls. I don’t know, I’d have to see a script. It would have to be something that I could really add my flavor to, have some pop and some spark. I wouldn’t want to just do anything, because I have so much love for the franchise. I want to be on the Enterprise. Ideally, I’d have to be on the Enterprise in some capacity. I don’t want to be floating in space outside! I want to be on the bridge, but they have to bring it to me."

STAR-TREK-NICOLAS-CAGE-FOTOR.jpg

THANOS---Josh Brolin said Thanos might return in a Marvel studios project, “You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they’re going to bring him back. And there’s the ‘What If…?’ series and that’s a different kind of Thanos and all that. But I don’t know in the Marvel world whether they’re going to bring him back, but I didn’t know that he was the most killed-off Marvel villain … You learn something new every day.”

ROMY AND MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION---Mira Sorvino said writer Robin Schiff is writing the screenplay for the sequel, “She’s currently working on EMILY IN PARIS, so she’s finishing up her draft to present to the studio. Lisa [Kudrow] and I are wrapping up our deals as executive producers on it with the studio. We’re full force ahead.”

DEPARTMENT Q---Matthew Goode will star in the Netflix crime series based on the Danish novels about a former top detective and his misfit team who solve cold cases.

TRIVIA---Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed his first choice to play Iron Man, "When we were casting the role of Iron Man, we looked at so many different actors. We had to find the perfect mix of heart and strength and charisma. Being our first Marvel film out of the gate, the stakes could not have been higher. The success of the film and the future of our entire studio on the shoulders of this one person, and it was not an easy task. But together with my team and our casting directors and our director, Jon Favreau, we culled down our list, we pinpointed the right guy, and we extended an offer to our top choice – an actor who checked all of those boxes and who we were confident would be a huge hit. And his name, of course, was Clive Owen. He passed. He was not interested."

THE MANDALORIAN---Gina Carano has sued Walt Disney and Lucasfilm for discrimination and wrongful termination after she was fired from THE MANDALORIAN because her social posts claimed social media discriminates against conservatives. The lawsuit states, "A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated. And so it was with Carano.
The rule of law still reigns over the Defendants’ empire…and Carano has returned to demand that they be held accountable for their bullying, discriminatory, and retaliatory actions—actions that inflicted not only substantial emotional harm, but millions of dollars in lost income."
The lawsuit is funded by Elon Musk's X Corp which released a statement, "As a sign of X Corp’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination.”
Carano also claimed Lucasfilm male co-stars including Pedro Pascal and Mark Hamill posted political statements on social media with “no financial or professional repercussions”.

THE TERROR: THE DEVIL IN SILVER---AMC Season 3 underway based on the Victor LaValle novel.

THE PICKUP---Eddie Murphy and Andrew Dice Clay will star in the Amazon MGM Studios heist comedy movie. No other details were released.

FOOLS---Karen Gillan will play Queen Mary Tudor I in the comedy movie whose synopsis says, “Set in the 16th century in the aftermath of Henry VIII’s death, the film follows England’s first queen, Mary I, as she takes the throne in a divided country on the brink of chaos. While the ambitious Cardinal Pole plots to secure control, he overlooks a humble court jester, Jane Foole. The pious and apparently humorless queen finds Jane’s brilliant slapstick routines uproariously funny, and they strike up a genuine friendship, the comedy lightening Mary’s mood in the darkest of times and helping fend off Pole’s murderous manipulation. But can Jane’s comedy save a nation from civil war?”

PALETTE---transgender actor Hunter Schafer and Noomi Rapace will star in this horror movie about a woman with extreme synestheia which causes people to hear through colors and is drawn into a cult-like industry.

TRIVIA---Lesley-Anne Down co-starred in two spy movies which featured the French Resistance in World War II.
Peter Hyams' tribute to World War II movies was HANOVER STREET in which Christopher Plummer played British spy Paul Sellinger, who was assigned to parachute into France to get a list of German double agents, Harrison Ford played US bomber pilot Lt. David Halloran, who flew Sellinger into France and Lesley-Anne Down played Sellinger's wife, Margaret, who was having an affair with Halloran. After Sellinger and Halloran were shot down over France, a member of the French Resistance helped them escape from the Germans.
In Blake Edwards' James Bond spoof, THE PINK PANTHER STRIKES AGAIN, Down played Russian spy Olga Bariosova, who was assigned to assassinate Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau, played by Peter Sellers, but fell in love with him. When Clouseau was in bed with Bariosova, he sang a song he used to sing as a member of the French Resistance in World War II.

STAR WARS---Disney head Bob Iger confirmed THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU will be the next STAR WARS movie to premiere and will be the first of four confirmed movies. Iger said they are part of "a number of which have already been announced" which indicates even more movies are being planned.
The next three movies are the new Jedi order starring Daisy Ridley, the Dave Filoni movie connecting THE MANDALORIAN, STAR WARS: AHSOKA and THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT and
the James Mangold movie set 25,000 years before the original trilogy.
Lucasfilm earlier said the STAR WARS movie 2026 premiere dates would be May 22, 2026 and December 18, 2026, so it appears THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU will open on May 22, 2026, and the Daisy Ridley movie will open on December 28, 2026.

STAR-WARS-FOTOR.jpg

ALIEN---the official title of the Fede Alvarez movie is ALIEN: ROMULUS. Star Cailee Spaeny said, “They brought the same team from ALIENS, the James Cameron film. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually came on and built ours. So getting to see the original design with the original people who have been working on these films for 45-plus years and has been so much of their life has been really incredible.”

ALIEN-ROMULUS-FOTOR.png

MARVEL STUDIOS---Disney head Bob Iger commented on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “I’d say we’re leaning a little bit more into sequels and franchises. I think given the environment and given what it takes to get people out of their homes to see a film … leaning on franchises that are familiar is actually a smart thing.
In our zeal to greatly increase volume partially tied to this wanting to chase more global subs for our streaming platform, some of our studios lost a little focus. So the first step that we’ve taken is that we’ve reduced volume, we reduced output, particularly in Marvel."

A BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY---Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell will star in the movie described as “an imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them.” Kogonada is the director.

DAREDEVIL---the stunt double for Charlie Cox is shown in the new Daredevil suit on the New York film set.

DAREDEVIL-FOTOR.png

FUZE---Aaron Taylor-Johnson will star in this heist movie described as “the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb at a London construction site, which sparks a mass evacuation as bomb disposal experts descend to defuse it. But the distraction also provides the perfect cover for a bank heist.”

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE---Rebecca Ferguson commented on returning to the franchise after her character, Isla Faust, was killed off, “Well, I mean, sometimes those three-picture deals you have in Hollywood, they end, and actors have the possibility of saying no, and we were at that point. Mission is such a huge dedication, and I’ve done it now, and it’s fantastic. And it’s amazing, and McQ and Tom wrote this incredible character.
There’s just that much you can do with a character, I find, and I’m entitled to my own opinion on this too. I want her to go rogue. I’m interested in the dark side, I don’t want to be a team member, I’m not interested in that.
And I felt like that was where we were headed. It takes a long time to make Mission too. It is blood, sweat and tears doing those. Since I finished, I’ve done a TV show and two movies, and they’re still doing [the same] Mission. But, you never know.”

DISNEY+---Disney+ lost 1.3 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2023 after a price hike and the streamer cracked down on password sharing.

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS---Disney+ renewed the series for Season 2.

TRIVIA---in Joe Dante's tribute to 1950s sci fi movies, MATINEE, three of its child actors appeared in hit projects as adults. Jesse Lee Sofer played younger brother Dennis Loomis in MATINEE, and he later played Jay Halstead on CHICAGO P.D. and CHICAGO MED. Simon Fenton played older brother Gene Loomis in MATINEE, and he later played Private Gerald Lorraine in BAND OF BROTHERS "Day of Days". Lisa Jakub played Sandra in MATINEE, and she later played Randy Quaid's daughter, Alicia Casse, in INDEPENDENCE DAY and the eldest daughter, Lydia Hillard, in MRS. DOUBTFIRE.

HIGHLANDER-FOTOR.png

HIGH AND LOW---Denzel Washington and Spike Lee will reunite for the remake of the 1963 Akira Kurosawa movie that starred Toshiro Mifune. The synopsis for the original movie says, “Toshiro Mifune stars as a wealthy industrialist whose family becomes the target of a ruthless kidnapper in Akira Kurosawa’s exemplary film noir. Based on Ed McBain’s detective novel KING'S RANSOM, HIGH AND LOW is both a riveting thriller and a brilliant commentary on contemporary Japanese society.”

ROOFMAN---Channing Tatum will star in this movie about Jeffrey Manchester, a serial robber, known as the "Roofman", who robbed over 60 McDonald's by entering through the roof. After being sentenced to prison, he escaped and hid in a Toys 'R' Us store and a vacant Circuit City store for months.

COYOTE VS. ACME---Warner Bros. reportedly rejected "handsome offers" from Netflix, Amazon Studios and Paramount Pictures for the animated movie starring Will Forte and John Cena. Warner Bros. wanted $75 million-$80 million and refused to accept any counter offers. “A source close to the movie doesn’t believe Warner Bros. would even announce that they hadn’t found a home for the movie. They would unceremoniously delete it. Never to be seen again.” Warner Bros head David Zaslav never watched the movie, and co-chairs Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca only watched the rough director's cut.

THE TERMINAL LIST: DARK WOLF---Luke Hemsworth has joined the cast of the Amazon Prime prequel series and will play Jules Landry, “a self-obsessed CIA contractor who hides a dangerously volatile personality beneath his muscled veneer.”

REACHER---in Season 3, Anthony Michael Hall will play Zachary Beck, owner of a rug import company that is suspected of being involved in illegal operations. Sonya Cassidy will play DEA agent Susan Duffy.

REAR WINDOW---Kevin Williamson (DAWSON'S CREEK) is developing a tv series based on the Alfred Hitchcock movie that starred Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. Williamson is also developing a tv series based on David Fincher's THE GAME that starred Michael Douglas.

TRIVIA---in Tim Burton's BATMAN, Sean Young was cast as Vicki Vale, but a horse-riding injury forced her to withdraw from the movie, and she was replaced by Kim Basinger. When the sequel BATMAN RETUNS began casting, Young was determined to make up for her missed BATMAN opportunity by seeking the role of Catwoman. Young dressed in a homemade Catwoman costume and entered the office of Warner Bros. executive Mark Canton, who was with Michael Keaton. Young stunned the two men by jumping over a sofa exclaiming, "I am Catwoman!".
Rumors claimed that Michelle Pfeiffer would play Catwoman, so Young tried to contact Burton, but he did not return her phone calls. Consequently, Young appeared on THE JOAN RIVERS SHOW in her Catwoman costume and, with tongue-in-cheek, cattily criticized "Timmy" for failing to call her back. LOS ANGELES TIMES TV critic Howard Rosenberg said Young's appearance was, "Sinking into kitty litter." Her embarrassing efforts were unsuccessful, and Michelle Pfeiffer got the role.
Young later reflected on her failed tv appearance, "Honestly, I thought it was funny!. I thought it was really, really funny, but these, these insecure d—heads at these studios, they just didn’t see the humor. They really didn’t. And I did not realize that that they were so humorless. I really didn’t.
I thought it was absolutely f—ing hilarious. I love that video. Of course, I should play Catwoman, and if these guys had had any sense, any time from that point until now, they would have given me the part again because [the controversy], it was so perfect, but they’re not really good businessmen … They’re not very intelligent.”

THE MOVIE CRITIC---Tom Cruise is in talks for a "small role or cameo" in Quentin Tarantino's last movie.

GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE---new image released from the sequel. Director Adam Wingard said, “There’s a bit of a truce — Godzilla’s in control of the surface world and Kong is down in Hollow Earth. It wasn’t, ‘Okay, give me a call when something goes wrong, Kong. And I, Godzilla, will rush to the rescue!’” It looks like the two creatures will be facing a common enemy as the upcoming film will feature the appearance of a more villainous primate named Skar King, who threatens the very fate of the planet. And the addition of the new villain is shaping up to bring an interesting dynamic between Godzilla and Kong. “The buddy-cop dysfunctional relationship dynamic is probably the best one to describe Godzilla and Kong. My influences are always embedded with the ‘80s, and the ‘80s were prime for [that] storyline.”

STAR WARS: EPISODE I-THE PHANTOM MENACE---to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the second trilogy, the poster was released for THE PHANTOM MENACE which returns to theaters on May 3.

FEATHERWOOD---Scarlett Johansson will star in the movie about Carol Blevins, “a heroin addict and ‘Aryan Princess featherwood’ (property of a gang member) who became one of the FBI’s most important informants during an epic, six-year investigation into the murderous, neo-Nazi crime and drug syndicate known as the Aryan Brotherhood Of Texas. Blevins, who lived with the gang, memorized details, pre-empted murders and interrupted robberies, helped convict 13 members of the group. However, her harrowing journey left her with significant physical and mental scars and she lives under constant threat of reprisal by the ABT.”

THE WALKING DEAD---showrunner Scott M. Gimple said there might be crossover involving DEAD CITY, DARYL DIXON and THE ONES WHO LIVE, “There are so many things with this universe that I plan and put together, but I also know that God laughs, and you have to pivot to something else. I absolutely have been working towards that [a crossover] and hoping towards that, but we’ll see what happens. It might be a version of it that no one expects.”

GOOSEBUMPS---Disney+ renewed the series for Season 2.

TRIVIA---in CHINATOWN, private detective Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is having lunch with corrupt Los Angeles tycoon Noah Cross (John Huston), and Cross asks Gittes about his daughter, "Are you, uh, sleeping with her?"
Ironically, Huston's daughter, Anjelica, had just started a relationship with Nicholson and was visiting the film set when the scene was being filmed, "Jack and Roman Polanski were already friends, and Dad and Jack got on really well, sharing philosophical conversations and a lot of laughs. It was during CHINATOWN that I moved into Jack’s house. When Dad asked me to come visit him on the CHINATOWN set, I agreed—I hadn’t seen him for almost six months. We had lunch at a long table outdoors, Jack on one side, my father on the other, Polanski at the head. I sat down quietly beside Jack. Out of nowhere, my father, eyeing him malevolently, said, 'I hear you are sleeping with my daughter”—long pause—'Mr. Gittes.' I went bright red and then I realized: they were rehearsing. Everyone burst out laughing."
