WALT DISNEY---Walt Disney head Bob Iger commented on defeating investor Nelson Peltz in a proxy battle after Peltz accused Disney's projects of being too woke, “The term woke is thrown around rather liberally, no pun intended in that regard. I think a lot of people don’t even understand really what it means.
I think the noise is sort of quieted down. I’ve been preaching this for a long time at the company before I left and since I came back then our number one goal is to entertain.
The bottom line is that infusing messaging as a sort of a number one priority in our films and TV shows is not what we’re up to. They need to be entertaining, and where the Disney company can have a positive impact on the world, whether it’s, you know, fostering acceptance and understanding of people of all different types, great.
But generally speaking, we need to be an entertainment-first company … And understanding that look, we’re trying to reach a very, very diverse audience.
And on one hand in order to do that, what you do, the stories you tell, have to really reflect the audience that you’re trying to reach, but that audience because they are so diverse, really, first and foremost, they want to be entertained, and sometimes they can’t be turned off by certain things.
And we just have to be more sensitive to the interest of a broad audience. It’s not easy, you know, so that we can’t please everybody all the time, right?”

There are so many stories coming out every day it’s difficult to deal with and everytime I strike something down I’m giving it attention. So, I’ll say again, don’t believe anything unless you see it HERE (& why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?)”.

SUCKER PUNCH---Zack Snyder said he wants a Snydercut of the 2011 movie, “The only movie I would change is SUCKER PUNCH , because it never really got finished correctly. Even the director’s cut is not really the correct cut. It’s really just an extended version. If I had the chance, I would fix that movie. I have the footage already shot: they just have to let me put it together. We ask every now and then. We have to ask again. I think there has to be a window when no-one’s got the movie."
Snyder said it is up to the fans, "If they want to start a campaign, that’s alright.”

One of the extras added that Stallone “was very upset with the look of the background actors. Said they were hideous and old and fat. Next thing, people are being told to go back to holding and younger people were brought in.”

GAME OF THRONES---Kit Harington said the Jon Snow spinoff series has been shelved, “Currently, it’s not [worth pursuing]. Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”
Harington also commented on returning as the Black Knight in the MCU, “I hope that they do something with that character. I think that character is fascinating and brilliant. And I love his trajectory in the comics. I love the idea of a good guy being turned bad by his superpower. I think that’s brilliant. I’m not sure whether we’ve had a protagonist that’s like that, so I think it’s a really strong idea. I’d love them to [revisit him].”
He added,, “I don’t know, though. The honest answer is nothing’s in the works at the moment. If they decide to use the character in something, or as a solo thing, I’d be very excited by it. But I don’t think it’s planned at the moment.”

WONDER WOMAN 1854---Zack Snyder commented on his proposed WONDER WOMAN movie with Wonder Woman fighting in the Crimean War, “The idea of that was an early riff we were doing: once Wonder Woman left the island in search of Ares, what happened to her in her different incarnations? My idea for it was that she would travel around the world looking for Ares and she would go to every place where there was conflict.
On those battlefields she found these lovers, warriors, and they would age out because she is immortal. They would be her lover for ten years or they might die in battle, and it was probably sad for a lot of the guys because they would see her starting to be nice to the next young soldier and be like, ‘Oh, I’m being replaced.’ But all the guys that she had with her were those loyal warriors she found on the battlefields all over the world."
He added, "We talked about if Steve Trevor was there in Crimea. It was never a screenplay, but we talked about it so much that it kind of had its own life.”

However, Ritchson said he wants to play Batman in DC Studios movie, “I would love to play Batman. There, I said it, OK? I’ll shout it from the rooftops: I wanna be Bruce Wayne! Here’s the thing about Batman – you know what his superpower is? Intelligence. Dude is the smartest superhero there is. ANT-MAN---Michael Douglas said he does not want to return to the MCU, “[Getting killed off] actually was my request for the third one. I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects. But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up [for a fourth].”

TRIVIA---in THE WILD WILD WEST Western spy tv series, Robert Conrad played Secret Service Jim West. Conrad was only 5' 8" and wore three-inch heels to make him appear taller. Most guest actresses used in the series were not allowed to be taller than 5' 6".
Casting director Ethel Winant said, "We shot this crazy scene with a pool table. We always put Bobby in the foreground and the other actors in the background. We always used the same set, which forced perspective, and we would test people so we could have short people around. Bobby would wear a hat and have boots and lifts and we made these very elaborate chaffs to make him look taller in the tests. We figured we could probably get away from it in the show because he'd be on horses. But it was hard to do it on the set."

NAPOLEON---Brian Cox commented on Ridley Scott's Napoleon Bonaparte biomovie starring Jaoquin Phoenix, “It’s terrible. A truly terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It really is appalling. I don’t know what he was thinking. I think it’s totally his fault and I don’t think Ridley Scott helps him.
I would have played it a lot better than Joaquin Phoenix, I tell you that. You can say it’s good drama. No — it’s lies. I think he’s well named. Joaquin … wackeen … wacky. It’s a sort of wacky performance.”
Cox also commented on one of his own movies, BRAVEHEART, "BRAVEHEART is a load of nonsense. Mel Gibson was wonderful but it’s a load of lies. He never impregnated the French princess. It is a bollocks [sic] that film.”

NAPOLEON-FOTOR.png

ANYONE BUT YOU---Sydney Sweeney, the co-star of the hit ANYONE BUT YOU, was criticized by producer Carol Baum (DEAD RINGERS, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, FATHER OF THE BRIDE), “There’s an actress who everybody loves now — Sydney Sweeney. I don’t get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney’s movie because I wanted to watch it. I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her. I watched this unwatchable movie — sorry to people who love this movie — [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other.”
Baum also asked her students at the USC School of Cinematic Arts about Sweeney, “I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer, but then the question was asked, 'Well, if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?”"
TMZ reported that Baum now regrets her remarks, “She wishes she never would’ve made her original comments and that crapping on an actor like that in public usually isn’t her style.”

ANYONE-BUT-YOU-FOTOR.png

SUPEREHEROES---THE FANTASTIC FOUR star Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) commented on claims that superhero fatigue has led to a drop in superhero movie box office revenue,
“I think that with the story of THE FANTASTIC FOUR, it feels like we want to get this right. There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me.
Again, going back to who’s involved, Matt, of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.
Superhero movies are movies about people, and if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theaters to watch films. We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”

SUPERMAN---Neva Howell will play Ma Kent in the DC Studios movie.

His memory returns in bursts and he pieces together that he was sent to the Tau Ceti solar system, 12 light-years from Earth, to reverse the impact of a space event that had already hurled our planet into the early stages of an Ice Age. As details of the mission unravel, he must call on all of his scientific training and sheer ingenuity, but he might not have to do it alone…”

DUNE: PART THREE---Denis Villeneuve said he is currently writing the sequel which will address the PART TWO ending in which Chani left Paul's side in anger, “That anger is tremendous. I don’t want to reveal what I’m going to do with the third movie. I know exactly what to do. I’m writing it right now. But there’s a lot of firepower there, and I’m very excited about that decision.”

REBEL MOON---Zack Snyder said he wants even more sequels to the sci fi movie, “I guess four makes sense. Four or six movies, depending. I guess it’s whether or not every time we make one of these movies, we make two, that’s the question.”

THE WITCHER---Netflix announced that Season 5 will be the last season.

FALLOUT---Amazon Prime renewed the series for Season 2.

SPIDER-MAN 4---Tom Holland confirmed he is returning for the sequel, “The simple answer is yes...We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.
This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”

STAR WARS---a source denied fan claims and a SOUTH PARK special that Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy is the woke leader at Lucasfilm, “Kathleen Kennedy is not… That whole SOUTH PARK thing was… It was funny, but it wasn’t accurate. She kind of has to be convinced, from everything I’ve been told, she kind of has to be convinced to do this stuff. And there’s still never been a female director of a STAR WARS movie. I’m very critical of Kathleen Kennedy, but I don’t think she’s gone overboard on the diversity stuff.”

BLAIR-WITCH-PROJECT-FOTOR.png

JOHN McTIERNAN---John McTiernan, the director of DIE HARD, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and PREDATOR, saw his career crash after a series of box office bombs and being sent to prison for lying to an FBI agent after he hired a private investigator to illegally wiretap a producer. McTiernan said he wants to resurrect his career and still receives offers, but he said "none of them are for good films."
McTiernan said he is working on three scripts, “I have continued to write and I believe I have strength, years left. I am just as angry now as when I was 19.”

JOHN-Mc-TIERNAN-3-FOTOR.png

JERRY SEINFELD---Jerry Seinfeld commented on the state of the film business, “Film doesn’t occupy the pinnacle in the social, cultural hierarchy that it did for most of our lives. When a movie came out, if it was good, we all went to see it. We all discussed it. We quoted lines and scenes we liked. Now we’re walking through a fire hose of water, just trying to see.”
He commented on what has replaced the film business in society, “Depression? Malaise? I would say confusion. Disorientation replaced the movie business. Everyone I know in show business, every day, is going, ‘What’s going on? How do you do this? What are we supposed to do now?’
I’ve done enough stuff that I have my own thing, which is more valuable than it’s ever been. Stand-up is like you’re a cabinetmaker, and everybody needs a guy who’s good with wood. There’s trees everywhere, but to make a nice table, it’s not so easy.
So, the metaphor is that if you have good craft and craftsmanship, you’re kind of impervious to the whims of the industry. Audiences are now flocking to stand-up because it’s something you can’t fake.
It’s like platform diving. You could say you’re a platform diver, but in two seconds we can see if you are or you aren’t. That’s what people like about stand-up. They can trust it. Everything else is fake.”

EL PASO, ELSEWHERE---Lakeith Stanfield is in talks to star in the movie based on the video game.

SLEEP HOLLLOW---Paramount Pictures remake movie underway with Lindsey Anderson Beer (PET SEMATARY: BLOODLINES) as the director.

THAT '90S SHOW--Mila Kunis commented on if she and Ashton Kutcher will return for Season 2, “No. I mean, we did our thing and they introduced our son in the show.”

TRIVIA---the 1970 World War II heist movie KELLY'S HEROES starred Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, Donald Sutherland and Don Rickles. Eastwood led a squad of soldiers behind enemy lines to rob a heavily-defended French bank holding $16 million in gold. The movie's theme song, "Burning Bridges", was written by Lalo Schifrin and Mike Curb and was a hit song for the Mike Curb Congregation. However, a little-heard vocal of "Burning Bridges" sung by Eastwood was released as a 45 rpm single.

Maureen eventually succeeds in tracking down her ex-husband and Amina in Beirut, where she will face the most difficult decision of her life.”

The synopsis says, “DYING FOR SEX follows the story of Molly (Williams), a woman diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who leaves her husband of 15 years and begins to explore her sexuality. She gets the courage and support to go on this adventure from her best friend Nikki (Slate), who stays by her side all the way to the very end.”

ANNE HATHAWAY---Anne Hathaway talked about having to make out with 10 actors early in her career, “Back in the 2000s — and this did happen to me — it was considered normal to ask an actor to make out with other actors to test for chemistry. Which is actually the worst way to do it."
She added, “I was told, ‘We have ten guys coming today and you’re cast. Aren’t you excited to make out with all of them?’ And I thought, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ because I wasn’t excited. I thought it sounded gross. And I was so young and terribly aware how easy it was to lose everything by being labeled ‘difficult,’ so I just pretended I was excited and got on with it...It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to be awful or hurt me. It was just a very different time and now we know better.”

TRIVIA---in John Milius' THE WIND AND THE LION set in 1904 Morocco, American teacher Eden Pedecaris (Candice Bergen) and her two children are kidnapped by tribal leader Mulai Ahmed el Rasuli (Sean Connery), who sends a ransom demand to President Theodore Roosevelt (Brian Keith).

FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA---the prequel movie has earned an R-rating and is the longest movie in the franchise with 148 minutes. MAD MAX: FURY ROAD was 120 minutes long.

SHOGUN---co-creator Justin Marks commented on a possible sequel to the hit FX miniseries based on the James Clavell novel, “How do you even equal the roadmap that Clavell laid out? I don’t know if it’s possible. I don’t know if Clavell could have done it, either. That’s probably why he moved on to other books, too, right? He knew what he had done. Yeah, it’s a tough one.”

THE CALL OF CTHULHU---James Wan commented on his movie based on the HP Lovecraft short story, "We'll see. I'm not even writing it for anyone, really. It's just something I'm passionate about. But it's very esoteric. It's going to be a hard sell..."

And they walk up to me and say ‘Hey, we want to talk to you about something. We have a film we’re working on and want to talk to you about working on.’ And I’m like ‘oh, that sounds great.’ And I just remember for like two weeks, I kept thinking ‘they’re going to hire me to score their film.’
So I went into this meeting and they said ‘well, we loved you on stage. We loved the way your band looks, and we loved the way you guys look. We want you to be a, sort of a crazy mad scientist in this film we’re doing.’ And I go ‘what do you mean?’ And they go, ‘well, there’s a part in the film of a guy who runs around in a lab coat, and he has a car that he turns into that goes through time. We want you to play that part.’ And I go ‘I don’t want to act in a movie.’ And they go ‘well, you act on a stage, you do great.’ And I go ‘well, we make that stuff up ourselves.
I mean, I don’t do what other people ask, I’ve never had people ask me to do this, I don’t want to do that.’ And I just remember leaving, and I’m going ‘they didn’t ask me to score the film, I can’t believe it. I thought that’s what was going to happen.’ Well there you go."

THE SOCIAL NETWORK---Aaron Sorkin said he is writing a quasi-sequel to the 2010 movie, “Look, yeah, I’ll be writing about this. I blame Facebook for January 6...Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible, because that is what will increase engagement...There is supposed to be a constant tension at Facebook between growth and integrity, there isn’t. It’s just growth so if Mark Zuckerberg wakes up tomorrow and realizes that there is nothing you can buy for $120 billion that you can’t buy for $119 billion, so how about if I make a little less money, I will tune up integrity and I will tune down growth.”

SOCIAL-NETWORK-FOTOR.jpg

Producer Gale Anne Hurd posted, "I realize that Arnold claims that OJ Simpson was cast as The Terminator before we cast him. That is 100% NOT TRUE. And I should know. Jim and I never ever considered OJ. Not even for a nanosecond."
Director/writer James Cameron clarified Schwarzenegger's comment, "Very early on, a highly placed person at one of the two studios that funded that film had a brilliant idea and called me up and said, ‘Are you sitting down?’ I said, ‘Well, no, I’m not.’ He said, ‘Are you sitting? O.J. Simpson for the Terminator!’ I said, ‘I actually think that’s a bad idea.’ It didn’t go anywhere."
Ironically, Cameron said one reason he did not want Simpson to play The Terminator was because Simpson was "too nice."

SUPERHEROES---AVENGERS: ENDGAME co-director Joe Russo commented on superhero movie fatigue, "I think it’s a reflection of the current state of everything. It’s difficult right now, it’s an interesting time. I think we’re in a transitional period and people don’t know quite yet how they’re going to receive stories moving forward, or what kinds of stories they’re going to want.
There’s a big generational divide about how you consume media. There’s a generation that’s used to appointment viewing and going to a theater on a certain date to see something, but it’s ageing out.
Meanwhile the new generation are ‘I want it now, I want to process it now’, then moving onto the next thing, which they process whilst doing two other things at the same time.
You know, it’s a very different moment in time than it’s ever been. And so I think everyone, including Marvel, is experiencing the same thing, this transition. And I think that really is probably what’s at play more than anything else.”

SUPERHERO-FATIGUE-FOTOR-2.jpg

TELEVISION COMEDY---Jerry Seinfeld blames political correctness for killing television comedy shows, “They need it so badly and they don’t get it. It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, “Oh, CHEERS is on. Oh, M*A*S*H is on. Oh, MARY TYLER MOORE is on. ALL IN THE FAMILY is on.' You just expected, there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.
Well, guess what — where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and P.C. crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people. Now they’re going to see stand up comics because we are not policed by anyone. The audience polices us. We know when we’re off track. We know instantly and we adjust to it instantly.
But when you write a script and it goes into four or five different hands, committees, groups — ‘Here’s our thought about this joke' Well, that’s the end of your comedy.”

THE ORVILLE---Seth MacFarlane commented on the status of the sci fi series, “THE ORVILLE was a passion project, I say ‘was’ but I don’t really mean ‘was’ because there will be more.” Last year, Adrianne Palicki said she is not returning and cast contracts have expired.

NCIS: HAWAII---CBS cancelled the series.

TRON: ARES---photo of Jeff Bridges returning for the sequel while reading his script. Bridges said, “I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the Tron story; I’m excited about that. It’s wild. Jared Leto is the star of this third one, and I’m really anxious to work with him, and I’ve admired his work.”
Bridges also commented on the sequel's technology, “[I’m really excited] to see what the technology is going to be all about [this time]. When I did TRON: LEGACY, we had to put all these dots on our face and all these kinds of things. And that’s [probably] all passé. I had to see myself as a young guy or as another character, but the same guy, but it was gonna be digitally created. I think it was [de-aging], but I didn’t like the way I looked in it; I felt like I looked more like Bill Maher than myself; it was kind of bizarre [laughs]. I’m anxious to see what the technology and what it will be. I hear there’s even less A.I. stuff in this. It’s going to be more a practical set, and they’re beautiful; there are beautiful sets that I’ve seen.“

RED ONE---sources claim the Christmas action movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans has seen its budget skyrocket to over $250 million. Over a dozen insiders claim Johnson has been chronically late for up to eight hours and that he “made a habit of peeing in a water bottle to save time, upsetting crew members.” Also, sources claim the inexperience of producers Hiram Garcia, Julie Rapaport and Glenn Gainor are factors in the movie's problems.
Amazon MGM Studios replied to the reports, “Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on ‘Red One’ – a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season.
Our testing has been very strong – the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself – and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant work and support.
Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven-eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”

FALLOUT---Amazon Prime's premiere of the series based on the video game drew 65 million viewers in 16 days which placed it second behind the premiere of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER.

SICARIO 3---Josh Brolin commented on the status of the sequel with himself, Benecio del Toro and Emily Blunt returning, “Chris [McQuarrie] was involved for a while, but he’s not now, and I don’t know about [Taylor] Sheridan. I know him really well, but I don’t know if he’s onboard or not.”

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER---Chris Hemsworth apologized for his performance in the sequel, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.” Consequently, Hemsworth said he thinks he owes the fans another movie with Thor.

TRIVIA---in George C. Scott's PATTON, Gen. George S. Patton introduces his new dog, William, named after William the Conqueror. When a local Englishwoman's little dog barks at William which sends him scurrying for cover, the Englishwoman apologies to Patton, and Patton says to to William, "Your name isn't William---it's Willie."
In realty, the dog was a bull terrier named Punch whose owner was an RAF pilot who was lost on a mission and whose family then sold the dog to Patton. Patton named the dog Willie after a boy he met during the Great Depression, not William the Conqueror.
After Patton died in an auto accident shortly after World War II ended, Willie stayed with the Patton family until his death in 1955. Willie is buried on the Patton family property.
