I stand corrected Mike, he definitely has Rock Cred ^&grin

What do you guys think of this Song/Band?

Matt,

Like you I enjoy a wide variety from different kinds of jazz (e.g. various big bands, Miles Davis, MJQ) and lots of different styles of rock and blues, e.g. classic rock, some prog rock and Eric Clapton playing blues with almost anyone.

I came across blue on black relatively recently, I had never heard of the band 5 finger Death Punch, I think the original is superb but their version is unmatched. I saw Bad Company live eons ago - Paul Rogers, Bad Company and Free are also amongst my favourites, but the 5 Finger Death Punch version of Bad Company is also pretty good IMO.

(I don't like thrash metal, I like a good melody). (Tried to post a music youtube clip two different ways but it won't have it, how do you do it?)

Kevin,

Having recently retired I have much more spare time to pursue my music interests, I can spend hours on Youtube music checking out new singers, songs etc.

I guess you're familiar with this J. J. Cale song covered by Eric Clapton & John Mayer, has a great melody:

Zac Brown Band and James Taylor reminding us that some things are still free, kinda.

Matt

I did not know that one, thanks.

I like most of the collaborations that I have looked at e.g. this one, and some also with Steve Winwood.

Kevin

They were a good old band, wasn't aware of the Aussie Mick Rogers.

Ian Moss is another often overlooked Aussie, he was lead guitar with Aussie Rock band Cold Chissel, he's actually a better singer than Jimmy Barnes but Jimmy was louder in more ways than one.

Here's Ian with a more Bluesy version of 'Bow River'.

Thanks Matt, I had not heard this song, Ian Moss or the band. As you said, he can play a bit (I also liked the short solo from the bloke with the hat).

Yeah the hat guy, Peter Walker also plays a cool guitar.

As for who is Australia's best guitar player, some would say Ian Moss, but I think Tommy Emmanuel beats him on Accoustic:

Here's Tommy with YouTuber Rick Beato:

Forgot to mention they do a cover of one of my fav songs about the 49 minute mark.

Here's the writers version, John Mayer who you may have heard of ;)

'So Into You' by Atlanta Rythym Section, an underated band if ever there was one.

There's something about a 'Murder Ballard', here's some examples:

'Hazard' Richard Marx
