My Flat Collection (4 Viewers)

Last pics of the Caravel, I got a set of artists fine tip markers and hit all the exposed cardboard edges I could reach, some comparisons, before and after.

Your 'edging' work makes a huge difference !

Looks like wood.

Thank you.

Thank you Ivan, it still bothers me that it can look so clean to the eye but the flash draws out every crevis and light spot that I either missed or where too small to get at.

Here is a really nice set of prussian Artillery and auxilliary casting I picked up as a group, the dilema is what next? They are so nice as a group I'm thinking of leaving them as is? while these are flat, most of the wheels are attached to the guns, wagons and cassions, need a lot of horse teams and crews to man this group!
Ray

Nice dilema to have Ray. You can always paint 'em up - and call it a gun park. Or, if you know the manufacturer supplier, you could always inquire as to whether some teams are available, for the ones you can either hook up - or teams to man the demounted cannons?

Maybe just pick out the ones you would like with teams - and then just do 'em - one at a time??? jb

I'd like to see them painted and with a team of horses hitched up .....

So get searching .....

Seems I have my marching orders! I'll go back to the gentleman I got these from for a start, say some at ease and some in action?
In the mean time the Emperors Old Guard has there marching orders.

Finished another paper building for my village, I'll try to put them all together.

So the weather has somewhat cooled and the garage is fair game again, I put some of the recent paper buildings together with the cathederal and some of my older (and favorite sets) to set this scene.
Part of Napoleon's greatness was his inexaustable energy, while on campaign he would travel at breakneck speed between hot points in the field, sometimes 60KM and more to be "Hands On" with the troop movements.
Here Napoleon, Staff and Escort pause to address messaging and catch a breath.
Hope you enjoy,
Ray

Great scene !

In this picture, the 'Grand Colours' of the Cathedral are nicely offset by the more restrained colours of the town buildings. Gives the impression of the Sun shining on the Cathedral.

Really like those Medieval buildings.

Thank you.

I agree with all the above Ray - and I particularly like the cobbled street effect too. Can you give us a few more details about that please?? jb

Thank you Ivan and John, glad you enjoyed this vignette, but first to quote one of my favorite characters in my top 10 movies Esteban Vihaio, " First I must warn you, I am susceptable to flattery".
This literally kinda of fell together, I was in the garage moving the paper models I've accumulated around to make room for all the half timber buildings in one shot and I just kind of sat the church at the end of the table while I was making room. I saw it with all thew buildings in front and I thought there might be something there?
The cobblestone mat is another of those things I've been trying to resolve for quite a while, what do I use for streets and roads with these paper buildings? I was on evilbay one day and saw this seller with various scale paper roads, walls etc. that were textured, there cheap and the guy is in Greece. With the economic troubles there having over there it seemed a easy and inexpensive thing to do. These are 1/87 textured cobblestone sheets which nicely match patterns from sheet to sheet, glued together on a large sheet of matting material and my in city road situation is resolved!
The Buildings are another source of irratation for me, after seeing all the great scenes in the K&C, FL and JJ threads, I built these various building and still can't find a workable arrangement where they work well together, this is more or less a workaround. I love the catherderal but after construction I took pics and the glossy finnish just wiped out the detail in reflected glare. Sorry JB, I sprayed it down with a matt finish.
Here's a link to the sheets:

and here's where you find the digital downloads to print the buildings, they even have 3-d printer buidings and figures:

So I added some figs and took more pics,
Ray

Thanks for the extra info - very interesting. The extra figures make it look even more stunning Ray! As with most things TS - the more there is - the better it gets.

Even if it came together as a happy accident - well done - jb

Ray;

Whether your "workaround" or jb's "Happy Accident"...the result was excellent...and your sharing of it provided some interest and inspiration.

Thank you again.

How about a couple of Russian hussar regiments? (all the same box set)

Very cool Ray. That city scene looks great.

Brad

Thank you Brad, I will add one last layer of French into the city streets and post later, in the mean time I did get some more Signed Leliepvre prints, this one Is a trumpeter of the French King Louie's guard 1730
