Tom,

looks a bit more like Western DESERT :)

Need some water and get the grass growing I think ???

John

What a fun project and coming together very professionally. Really like the layout and especially the bridges. Good size board to work with. Can see lots of different vehicles and figures gracing your diorama Tom. This must certainly be time consuming, but the end result is going to be excellent.^&cool, Robin.

Well done mate, cooking along really nicely, once the foliage goes on it will come alive....:salute::
Wayne.

What is the RR track you are using, I have been looking for some for a Lawrence of Arabia raid and have used G scale by Bachman but it is too wide, tall, and shiny. I have been looking for Atlas O scale flexable track but my local RR shop dosent stock it and of course did not like my ideal of blowing up trains, LOL. Anyhow I am looking for a good flexiable RR track that can fit into sceans without allot of work and I think what you are using looks great.

Cheers

Looking good mate

Thanks mate.

Thanks Robin and yeah, it's time consuming to build and sometimes I'm scratching my head in what I should do next but I'm having fun and getting loads of personal satisfaction.

Thanks mate. I have described the track at the beginning of this thread but it's G Gauge made by Marklin in Germany. I got ten 30 cm lengths off ebay for $20 USD. I used 5 lengths for this project. You buy the track unpainted and you paint it yourself or get someone to do it for you. I painted my track. You can see pic's of the track unpainted at the beginning of this thread.

Thanks to everyone else for the likes!

Thanks Mike, now the tricky bit of laying grass and adding all the other bits and pieces!

Thanks Moe and it will be a little while before I pour the water but hopefully (touch wood) it will go ok.

Tom...

the texture of the terrain on the mountain looks really good...

grainy and earthy...

it should paint or flock very nicely...

GREAT JOB!

With you there - the mountain will look good with some paint to highlight all the texture. Good scale work there Tom. Well done.:salute::

Thanks Bob, I haven't finished weathering the hill yet and i'll use a lighter colour to highlight the texture in the rocks.

Hi all

Well, I have had my head down and tail up over the last couple of months and been busy gluing down the railway track, laying ballast, laying grass and planting bushes and flowers on my dio. I still have a fair bit more to go but I am quite pleased in how it is turning out. The stone wall around the farmhouse is not yet complete (or glued down) and I will put in another gate when the gate posts I ordered arrive. The stone wall is made by JG Miniatures but I am extending each end of the walls by building my own out of little stones I found lying around the yard. I made both gates out of match sticks and bits of wire.

I have finished painting and weathering the rocky hill and all I have to do is add some grass and imitation soil. I also just recently added some rocks on the hill slope which were painted and weathered by myself. I will lay grass and flowers around the rocks. I still have to plant heaps more flowers and weeds on the entire dio once I have finished all the grassing. I will add another dead tree and some more dead timber ect as well as a couple more JG miniature trees. The bushes and trees you can see are also made by JG Miniatures.

I will pour the realistic water into the creek when I have finished everything else. This will be the last step in the construction of the diorama and I am doing the pour last so I don’t get bits of grass and other wastage all over the water surface while I am gluing down the grass, bushes etc.
