If you had told me my Ravens would have the most points scored in the N.F.L. after 3 weeks I'd say you were crazy!!!!!!!!! Baltimore offense is for real, and if our defense can stay on track this team is gonna be hard to beat, and after another Steeler loss life is good...real test next week in New England...Sammy

I can tell you Tom D. is not a happy camper right now with the Steelers losing :(

There are some really good teams this year. The Ravens, Giants, Jets, Eagles, Vikings and Steelers, all have a shot at the title. Its going to be a fun year.:cool:

The Ravens finally have a quarterbeck in Joe Flacco that can lead the offense. :D

Now the only thing is can they stay healthy. ;)

I think that this week's matchup between the New Orleans Saints (3-0) and the Jets (3-0) is particularly interesting. Arguably the best offense against arguably the best defense in the league. I think the winner, at 4-0, with wins over at least two quality teams (New Orleans beat the Eagles and the Jets beat the Patriots) will be annointed as one of the elite teams with a shot at the title.

My thoughts on a dismal start by the Steelers:

1. Need to get the running game going, it is pathetic right now and no excuse.

2. Ike Taylor 24 has to go, he has been a bum of a cornerback since he started with us and should have gone twice now, we should have kept either Chris Hope or Bryant McFadden. With Troy P. out, he is increasingly exposed for a crappy cornerback.

3. The Offensive line should turn in their paychecks, they don't deserve them.

Ok, basically we should be 3 and 0 even after playing like dog crap the last 2 weeks, a missed field goal and letting a not very good fball team score 14 unanswered points in the 4th qtr is uncalled for. On the other hand, when you do not put teams away, you get what you deserve, we flat out lost the last 2 games.

And finally, hats off to the Ravens on a great start, if they stay healthy, they have a legit shot. Big test this week against the Patriots, Brady looked more in sync last week.

Brad,
you are not kidding, I am so angry its awful. If we were getting blown out b/c we were not good that is one thing, but to give away games that should be wins due to poor play, that's frustrating.

Take it easy, Tom. The Steelers will make the playoffs, and have as good a shot as anyone to win the Superbowl. The Giants started 1-2 two years ago, and won it all, and I expect the Steelers to turn it around pretty quickly. I would not be surprised it they were 6-2 by the halfway mark, although 5-3 is more likely.

Hey fellas watch out for those Sainters......................:D

Can you believe that New Orleans is a whopping 7 point favorite at home???

That seems like a lot to me....gotta try the Jets +7.....they have been strong.

Happy to watch my Colts eek out a 3-0 start.... Unless the Titans really turn it around, I'd say we'll win our division easily.

I agree Tom. If the Ravens can beat the Pats at home that will be a BIG win, but that is a tall task for sure.

What a confusing mess the Saints-Jets game was. The Jets defense absolutely shut down the Saints offense, giving up only a field goal and a late touchdown, but the Jets rookie quarterback utterly imploded, and personally handed the Saints 14 points off a pick-six with a 99 yard return and a fumble in his own end-zone, in addition to another drive killing interception.

Tha Ravens were raped by the officials on two drive-extending horrible roughing the passer calls that led directly to two touchdowns, handing the game to the Patriots. The officiating begins to look suspect this year, what a surprise.

What's the deal with Denver? Are they surprisingly good or is Dallas not as good as everyone thinks? I am beginning to believe that Tony Romo really doesn't handle the pressure of big games.

Thankfully, I am a lifelong Giants fan, and my team drubbed the hapless Chiefs (in a race to the bottom, the Chiefs and the Rams are neck and neck for worst team in the league honors), as expected (although I am still scared by Eli's injury - bruised heal my butt, that looked like some kind of Achilles tendon injury to me).

So far, as I predicted, the Steelers are bouncing back from their 1-2 start and handing a beating to the Chargers. Although the Chargers did just recover an onside kick, and score a touchdown to pull within 7, so this could get interesting. Sorry Tom.

The colts beat the daylights out of the Seahawks. There's a shock. The Seahawks are terrible again this year, bringing up the rear of the weakest division in football.

I hope at least the Vikings-Packers game lives up to expectations tomorrow night.

Nope, sorry, you cannot hit the quarterback in the head or take out his knees, new rules this year regarding quarterbacks. Suggs fell into Brady's knee and threw an elbow too; you can't do that, end of story. Mike Wright in the process of sacking Flacco brought his hand up to Flaccos face, you can't do that, the Patriots got flagged there as well.

All three calls were ticky tack, but those are the new rules; blame the rules not the refs.

If Clayton doesn't have cement hands, the Ravens might have pulled the game out, they are a very good team, they finally have an offense to go with that terrific defense led by Lewis and Reed, Flacco is the real deal, what a talented kid he is. They will be in a dogfight all year long with the Steelers to win that division, both of those teams should easily make the playoffs, Big Ben is an elite QB along with Peyton and Brady, a cannon for an arm and he just does not go down, he's a bull out there.

And that thud you heard was Sanchez falling back to earth today, I think he read too many of his press clippings; cancel that bust being carved for Canton at this point......................

I'm trying to decide if tonight's Vikings game will just be a soap opera or whether it will be a gauge of how good the Vikes really are. Enough talk...let's just play the game!

Time to put on some purple!

You correct, they are the new rules, but it's up to the refs to interpret the rules.
IIRC the NFL enacted those new rules because of Brady being injured last year. They call them the "Brady rules". The NFL doesn't want the QB's to get injured because their the "stars" of the NFL.

I'm sorry, but the NFL needs to hire full time professional refs. The game is getting to involved for "part timers".

To the Pats credit, they brought their "A" game when they needed it. ;)

If the Ravens had come back to beat them, that would have been the upset of the season. You can't turn the ball over twice and hope to win against a good team.

George,

I have no interest whatsoever in either of these teams, so maybe it is easier for me to be objective. I watched the reply about 15 times on the various highlight shows.

Suggs was blocked into Brady and actually twisted to avoid him. The call resulted directly from Brady turning to the ref (who did not throw the flag until long after the play was over) and pointing at his knees and yelling.

The rules state it is a penalty to strike the knees of a quarterback "with force". There is no way that Suggs hit Brady with force, Brady didn't even get unbalanced when Suggs brushed past him.

Not a single commentator thought it was anything but a horrendous call. Watch the replay with your football fan rather than Patriot fan hat on, and you will realize that the Pats got two gifts to the toon of 14 points from those horrendous refs.

The St Louis Rams, I only watch to see how they will lose!
How can a NFL team be so bad?

Agree 100%; it is up to the refs to interpret the rules and you are correct, they need to look at each and every play and make a judgement from there.

Wright in the process of sacking Flacco brought his hand up to wrap him up and accidently caught his facemask; instant penalty when it should have not been. Same deal on the Ravens player who accidently caught Brady in the facemask, it was an accident, should not have been a penalty.

And you are also correct in the NFL is going way out of their way to protect their biggest asset, the Mannings, Bradys, etc of the world.

The issue is guys are paid to sack the QB and now they have to worry about where, when and how they tackle the guy, it is idiotic.

And had the Ravens won the game, it would not have been a huge upset; they are a stacked team, loaded really, so if they had won (I thought they were going to light up the Patriots defense to be honest), it would not have been an upset.

You've got a great team there in Baltimore, I see them in the AFCCG for sure.

And no, sorry Louis, Suggs was not blocked into Brady, he fell towards his right knee and threw an elbow to boot.

Whether I am a Patriots fan has nothing to do with it.

If you had lost Eli for the season to a cheap shot and then saw him almost get wiped out again, you'd be screaming bloody murder.....................
