N.f.l. 2009 (1 Viewer)

The NFL has adopted increasingly bizarre PC rules to "protect" players. In reality, they are only interested in protecting their image and maximizing owner profits. Otherwise they would have done away with artifical turf which ended the careers of more players than a bucket load of Deacon Jones head slaps (those were the days). Not to mention adding as many games possible to the schedule to maximize profits - talk about causing injuries. Last I heard they are moving toward an 18 game season. Crazy.

The NBA is even worse with the flagrant fouls, suspensions for leaving the bench etc. Taking all the intensity out of the game. They will need lawyers at the games instead of refs soon.

Thankfully the Steelers held on. I hope they remember how they played qtrs 1 thru 3 and continue on for the rest of the season.

Oh boy, the Ravens, what a game. I didn't like the new rules, but that said, officiating never wins or loses a game. The Ravens had a legit shot, Clayton needs to make that catch. Hats off to both teams for a great game. AFC is going to be a wild ride between the Colts, Patriots, Ravens and Steelers. Who knows, the Broncos are 4 and 0!

Should be fun<

Although it's still very early in the season, I see another possible Baltimore/Pittsburg AFCCG with the Saints/Giants matching up in the NFCCG.

Still a long way to go though..............

As a Vikings fan....we'll take an old man as a quarterback if he can play like this

Looks like he found the fountain of youth out there in Minnesota; say what you will about the guy, but he still has a cannon for an arm................

The St Louis Rams, I only watch to see how they will lose!
How can a NFL team be so bad?
Gary
Well Gary, a owner can certainly contribute that.:D Frankly I have been wondering if Al Davis had a "secret son" that moved to the DC area to buy a team a while back.:(;)

Agreed. The season is just fine the way it is. No need to stretch it out further. The shorter the season, the more each game means.

Well if you are a Redskins fan you may be hoping for another strike season.:rolleyes::D Perhaps they need Falco and the twin towers.:D

Wow!!! my Ravens go from a top seed in the playoffs to a flop in two weeks say the media :eek:...it's a long season, 3-or 4 wins do not make you a superbowl team nor losing two close games to good teams make you a woeful bunch, so let me quess... if we beat Minesota next Sunday do we get to be superbowl contenders again?:) the media can make more stink out of a win or lose then needed, but my boys do need to kill the stupid penalties, play some better defense against the pass and we'll be alright, see ya in Minnesota next week Peter ...Sammy

Too bad we're not playing outside....it's snowing as we speak :)

Play some better defense against the pass.....well the way Favre and his receivers are connecting, I should say that will be a bit of a challenge. It should be a good game, likely a close one that will come down to who has the ball last.

How good would USC be if Sanchez had stayed for his senior season? The guy may not take the Jets to the Super Bowl, but he is the real deal if he can stay healthy.

Well, it's official. The Redskins are really bad. The only team in NFL history to play it's first 6 games against winless teams (Giants were 0-0) and they only won 2 0f them. The easy part of the season is done and the 'skins will be lucky to win 2 more games. Time to blow it up and start over. This is the most inept 'skins team I have seen and I have been a fan since 1966.:( Oh well, there is always next year or so... -- lancer

I am with you mate, what a miserable start that should have given them a 6-0 record. The offense is embarrassing. When you can't score a touchdown against a winless team you do need a blowup. They definitely need some changes.

On the other hand, the Viking/Ravens game did not disappoint. It was quite a shootout between the old and young gunslingers and as I suspected, came down to the last play. It could easily have gone the other way. Both teams are quite impressive at this point. What can you say about Farve, he is simply one for the ages and Flaco appears to be on his way.

There seems to be an abundance of god awful teams this year. The Rams, Chiefs, and TN. TN is down 59-0 in the 4th Q! Whew that is one of the worst performances in recent history.

Go the Saints, destroyed NYG supposed top defense bring on the Dolphins..........................:D

Looks like Sanchez needs a lot of seasoning.
Once again, the NFL proves itself a different beast than the NCAA. EVERYONE goes through the learning curve and some never learn the lesson. For every Marino or Manning(s) there are 10 Shulers or Leafs. -- lancer
