N.f.l. 2010 season (1 Viewer)

Week 13 will decide alot of things in the AFC, jets play pats, Ravens play Steelers, it will be a unlucky week 13 for a few teams...Sammy

Steelers laid an egg last night. Sure we have excuses of 3/5 of the O line is now out due to injury (2 for the year), 2/3 of D line now out. Hines Ward out................all of it doesn't matter, if Ben's receivers would not have dropped every pass thrown to them in the first half and if the Steelers would not have FLAT OUT got beat by Tom Brady and the Pats, different story.

The NFL is a weird league this year, the Steelers were at home and highly motivated after the Ravens loss, they just forgot you had to play and win their own game...........frustrating.

Week 13 will be quite interesting, but I have to tell you, I am none too impressed wiht either the Steelers D or the Ravens D right now.

Defense wins championships, neither of them delivered this week.

Tom, you are absolutely...correct:)..if our teams do not learn how to play defense again maybe the AFC North will be out in the cold, but you know it's a long 16 games, you have to take the good with the bad, none is going 16-0, so I'm hoping my Ravens play some offense and defense in the coming weeks which I think we will, at this point no team is a lock on thier division, or for that matter a playoff spot, this is one year no team will be resting starters come week 15/16:)...Sammy

There is a long way to gooooooooooooooooo, season is barely half over.

You know, the more I watch Brady, the more I believe he may be one of the top 5 QBs of all time. God knows it pains me to say that about a Michigan guy but he really is amazing. I'd put him up there with Montana, Unitas and Elway. Bar none, he is the cream of the crop of the current generation. I can't imagine what it will be like for Pats fans once he retires- well, yeah, I guess what it felt like when Aikman retired :)

The NFL's season of insanity continues. I think, first off, that underestimating the Patriots is going to be fatal. They abused the Steelers last night and appear as dangerous and good as ever. The Giants got embarrassed in a game no one thought the Cowboys would win. Oakland leads the division! I wonder if the Chargers are going to wake up. Seattle leads the NFC West. Really? Biggest surprise to me at this point is the Falcons. They are a good football team. All in all, everybody looks vulnerable one way or another. Big game tonight with big implications. Will find out if the Skins can hang in with a playoff chance. Giants loss really threw NFC East into a cocked hat. For that matter, the whole NFL is a toss up as no one has seperated themselves from the pack, yet. It is going to be a good 2nd half to the season. -- Al
It is a big game for us Al but I am not feeling very good about it. If you can't control either line, you can't win at this level. McNabb can still hit people and we have enough decent targets to make it work, even with cast off running backs. But the bottom line is no blocking, no wins. The Skins must fix that or they will looking at some very good draft picks this year.

This year has been interesting so far to say the least. This is why I love football and it is and always will be my number one sport.

Raiders/Falcons in the Super Bowl? Sure, why not, any given Sunday as the saying goes.

Have to fully admit I am a realist and not a homer, I felt the Patriots this year with their brutal schedule would be 6-10. After they got waxed by the Browns last week, I thought for sure they'd get demolished last night but man, they dropped the hammer on the Steelers last night, they beat them up and down the field all night long.

Our safties Chung and Merriweather hit like trucks, McCourtey is the real deal, a rising star, they have not one, not two, but THREE rookie linebackers starting, their fourth starter is a second year guy, two very good rookie tight ends and I agree with Chris, Brady is just spectacular. One of the all time greats, what a pleasure it's been to watch this guy for ten years, it will be a sad day in Boston when he hangs them up.

They still have a tough schedule, Miami, Chicago, Green Bay, the Colts, the Lions on Thanksgiving (a short week, never an easy game IMO).

Oh and lets not forget the Jets, the team everyone had picked as sure fire Super Bowl winners. Listen, in football you make your own breaks and a win is a win, but how this team is 7-2 is beyond me, 4-4-1 is more like it, they had zero business winning that game yesterday, same deal with the Denver game (4th and 6, Sanchez heaves up a prayer, pass interference, first and goal on the 4; can we stop with the 45 yard passes that get called for interference, college has it right, 15 yard penalty, automatic first down) and especially the Lions game, the cheap shot their kicker, blow out his knee, the back up misses the PAT, and the Jets win.

Unreal.

We'll see what happens vs the Jets in Foxboro; if the Patriots beat the Colts and the Jets, they are head and shoulders the best team in the AFC, which means they'll lose to Buffalo and blow home field advantage in the process...;)......................

This is so right. As good as McNabb can be, he can't pass to anyone if he is on his back. I don't have a real good feeling about the game either, as the Skins have always had trouble with highly mobile QB's. Still have nightmares about Cunningham, Staubach, etc. -- Al

Re: cowboys

Interesting here in N Dallas,,they can never quite understand that the rest of the world doesnt quite love their football team quite like they do ,,or did

I rooted for Dallas on two occasions, 1966 and 1967, if memory serves me right. Wanted to see them beat Green Bay, which they didn't. I'm a Skins fan, so rooting for the Cowboys is sort of like taking poison. Can't do it. But I did like Dandy Don, Bullet Bob and the rest. Just wish they beaten Green Bay... -- Al

I'm a Dallas fan married to a skins fan:D Well, Jilll is mostly a Theismann fan- which I am not.

Jill is also a Yankees fan; which I am decidedly not :D

Got to love Dan Snyder. He loves to spend money on risky players. Didn't they just bench McNabb?

The Washington Redskins and quarterback Donovan McNabb have agreed to a five-year, $78 million extension which could be worth up to $88 million with incentives, a source with knowledge of the agreement told ESPN NFL Insider Michael Smith.

The source said $40 million of the deal will be guaranteed.

The benching was just a blip. He is a class player if he can stay healthy; which brings us back to the line.

What a head scratcher; Shanahan is the guy who traded for McNabb, then he benches him because "He doesn't have the stamina to run the two minute offense", then they drop a dump truck full of dough in front of the guy, 40 mill guaranteed.

Good God.

Gee, I wonder why the Redskins haven't had a sniff of the Super Bowl for close to twenty years...........

The benching was the benching and is history now. There is nothing wrong with McNabb and I think it was a good move. Now if they will just protect the guy.

This has the makings of a very, very, very long night for the Skins (and the Giants).

And it just got longer :(

Can't remember ever seeing a start like this.

Been working on some emails and planning out my next diorama; oops, the game has already started, I'll just run downstairs, can always rewind to the beginning................let's see, 1:55 left in the first quarter..........35-0 Eagles.

Wow.

Guess I'll get back on the computer and keep planning out my next diorama, no need to get the refreshments out.

Oh and it's raining now in DC........

Never thought Vick could come back and play ball the way he is. That was one impressive 1st half. At least the Skins have shown some life and scored. Now if only the Skins defense can get their heads out of their as...uh...butts and play, maybe the final score can be respectable. I don't fool myself that they can close a 31 point gap, but they might shave some of it off. Boy, that 1st 20 minutes was UGLY. Are there do overs in the NFL? -- Al
