N.f.l. 2010 season (2 Viewers)

Great game tonite, lots of predictions of a close game or a Vikings win, I see it as a Saints blow out win (sorry Pete/Shannon) Favre looked terrible in the few pre-season starts and coming off a surgery, so I'm not buying into the close game theory, plus injuries to the Vikings wide reciever, and Percy Harvins migraines all pre-season, more like Saints 27- Vikes-17.

Ah, the beauty of a new NFL season. IMHO, how teams look in the pre-season has little or nothing to do with how they play the regular season. Every year some Super Bowl favorites crumble and don't make the play-offs, while some seemingly terrible team makes a strong run.

So...I have no idea what to expect tonight. Maybe the Saints and Vikes were a flash in the pan last year...maybe they will be for real. Hard to tell.

I do know that if we can't find a wide receiver we're in deep doo doo.

Thank goodness the pre-season crapola is over and the real stuff starts tonight. Should be a good one. I have to wait until Sunday night to see if the latest version of the Redskins is worth watching or just more of the same mediocrity. One thing for sure, the 'Skins need to dump that bum Haynesworth and find an adult to take his place. Will find out pretty quick if the 'Skins can hang with Dallas and the other big boys. And I would like to see the Ravens crush the Jets. Go 'Skins and Ravens! -- Al

Don't get me wrong Pete, other then the Ravens I would love to see the Vikings go to the Sper bowl, ol' man Farve has put in some time to get back there, and they have a talented team, just the injury bug and farve's bad ankle worry me, hope I'm wrong and the Vikes win tonite...Sammy

I hope the same Al but I am not sure we should be ready to dump the Skins if the the first game doesn't meet expectations. With so many new factors from the top down I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for a while. I certainly think the coach and QB changes are a major step in the right direction. I think we could see a good game IF McNabb's ankle is truly OK. That scares me a little bit about the first part of this season.

Oh my, after the Saints took the opening kick-off for a quick touchdown I was like here comes the blow-out, but looks like the Vikes are looking for some payback, great game so far, looking forward to the second half...Sammy

Yeah, I agree. I talk tough about the 'Skins, but I am a die hard and always believe they will be good, sort of like Charlie Brown with Lucy holding the football.:p:eek::rolleyes: I always come back for more (same with the Orioles). Just stamp my forehead with an S for sucker. As to McNabb, I sure hope he holds up. It all depends on him. -- Al

Poor Lions can catch a break, terrible call in that game, but I was glad to see the Bengals , Colts lose today..little tired of hearing that the Colts do not lose on opening day to noone, not after today:)...Sammy

Steelers survive, 1 down 3 to go until Big Ben is back. I dislike him, but I feel better when he is at the helm. Will take any wins we get. I guess I should credit our defense with carrying the day, although I still feel awful lucky.

I am glad it went the Bears way, but it is a horrible rule. I never heard of that rule until today.

The process must be complete.

I think the NFL will look at this rule and modify it it some way.

Somehow the 'Skins managed to beat Dallas. It was ugly and more than a bit lucky, but we'll take it. Got to say, I was unimpressed with the 'Skins, on both sides of the ball. The defense held Dallas to 7 points but Dallas pretty much went up and down the field at will. How Dallas racked up 380 yds. and only scores 7 points, well, they have problems, too. Anyway, 'Skins are 1-0 and Super Bowl bound!:rolleyes::D -- Al

I certainly hope this game was a wakeup call for the Skins but a win over Dallas is ALWAYS a WIN OVER DALLAS, ugly or otherwise. Interestingly, the greatest Skin teams were known for winning more than their share of ugly games, something the team hasn't been able to do in more recent times, so maybe even that is a hopeful sign. Moreover, this was the first real game with a new QB, new coaching staff and new defensive scheme so I am not surprised that they did not gel completely. Of course, as you also said, 1-0 is certainly better than 0-1.:D

I would't hold out too much hope for any Dan Synder run team, but they looked great in those retro uniforms. Winning is winning. They all count the same.

Well I agree but you raise a great point which does give me hope about the current team. As a condition to taking the job, it is reported that Shanahan got "full control" of the team so all final decisions are his, until he is fired. Of course I haven't seen his contract but the draft and free agency decisions made this year were not Snyder's style so....I have hope this is accurate.;)

I liked the retro unies too.

Shanahan is a no BS kind of guy. I like it. He won't put up with anything short of full out effort. The players better produce to their abilities or I'm sure Coach will find someone who will, without much angst about it. Go retro 'Skins! -- Al

Well, I have to give credit where credit is due; Rex Ryan really is a genius, man oh man did his team come to play tonight, all of that bluster from him came true tonight, those Jets look like a lock to win it all this year, what a high powered offense and yes sir, Sanchez is the real deal, picked up right where he left off last year.

Wait, they lost 10-9 and had a grand total of SIX first downs;..................ok then, nevermind.....................

What do you expect, George? The Jets were run over by the Ravens high powered offense. Those Ravens just couldn't be stopped. Jets are lucky the Ravens didn't score 11 or 12 points as it would have been a real rout. Seriously, Ravens got the usual great defense, but that offense looked awful last night. Ravens are going to have to do better than that. But a win is a win. -- Al

Agreed Al, Flacco is just awful, I wouldn't mind but he's got plenty of weapons now, Boldin, Who'syourmamma, Heap, Rice, Stallworth, man has this guy taken steps backward since his rookie year.

That defense is just sick, sick, sick, Ray Lewis is an animal, what a hit he laid on the Jets wideout, all shoulder, clean as anything, he just laid him out.

The Jets are in trouble, Jenkins is out for the year and they run a high school offense to keep it simple for Sanchez, the guy never looks downfield, he just dumps it off to the closest guy, talk about happy feet.

What happened to blood and guts Ryan, not going for it at home, 4th and less than yard, settled for a field goal instead.

He's put a tremendous amount of pressure on that team with all of his bluster about Super Bowl this and Super Bowl that and if we play "Jets football", nobody can beat us.

That stuff will come back to bite you..............
