N.f.l. 2010 season (1 Viewer)

George, I gotta hand it to Boston and the New York fans. They are passionate about their teams. What good is sports if one can't have a little fun? Win or lose, it can be a great ride. Now if only the Orioles or Redskins would give their fans something to cheer about... -- Al

Agreed on all points, we are crazy about our sports up here for sure, with the key word being crazy.

And the wide wold of sports had it right, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

The feeling after losses are TEN times worse than the feeling after wins. You win the Super Bowl, you've got a spring in your step the whole next day, then comes the parade, then it's over.

When you lose like yesterday, it eats at you for days, sort of makes you wonder if it's really worth it to invest so much of yourself in a local team.

Frankly, I'm still stunned............

Ah yes, the agony of defeat. I don't know if I have mentioned this before :)rolleyes:), but sports time stopped for me in 1969. I won't go over it again, but suffice it to say there are several NY teams I have not much use for. Bad year for we Baltimore fans that still hurts. -- Al

George I can feel your pain, this year especially, my Ravens lost only 5 games all year while winning 13, but all 5 losses came in the last 5 minutes of a game:( or overtime:(... just feel terrible, and the worst thing is most losses were because of stupid turnovers or mistakes:mad: we had the Steelers beaten at home, let's see a fumble with less then 4 minutes left, we had the Steelers down Sunday...3 turnovers in one quarter:eek: so I'm just disgusted with this year, lots of my friends say "hey the Ravens had one of the best records in the league be happy" sorry can't do it, until this team figures how NOT to give games away (esp. to the Steelers) I'm with you, gonna eat at me for awhile to get over this last game, hopefully it will eat at all the returning Ravens/coaching staff to correct things, and make the world all right again:)...well at least my dio will be here very soon!!!...Sammy

Agreed, a couple of the guys I watch the games with called today and vented a bit, one of them said he was happy they won 14 games, he did not think they would do so, the loss yesterday was disappointing but what can you do.

Nope sorry, this team was set up to make it to the Super Bowl, offense was clicking, scored 30 plus points it seemed like every game, the defense was young but came together nicely.

Belichick got outcoached, plain and simple, which is difficult being the defensive genius he is, his defensive game plan vs the Bills in the Super Bowl is in the HOF, did he honestly think the Jets were going to come out defensively and do nothing different from that 45-3 waxing several weeks ago?

If nothing else, he should have made some halftime adjustments and done things differently, but they did not.

It's days like this that sports are a huge turn off.............

Well time to be hopeful 2010 is over!!!

I just checked the Raven schedule for 2011 and it's not a killer like this past year.:)

at home besides the AFC North we play the Colts, Jets, Texans, Cards, 49ers.

away is Jags, titans,rams,seahawks,chargers

that away scedule doesn't scare me,..... so come on George time to start looking to next season, your Pats only have 5000 1st, 2nd, 3rd round draft choices!!

Let's go Ravens!!! next year when we play the Steelers hopefully we won't be in the Christmas mode of giving gifts:) plus I'll see a game in Baltimore next fall when my family and I are on vaction!!!...Sammy

Just got back from the land of the enemy, taking my son back to college. He and I are thinking about going to the game next weekend. Pittsburgh is about three and a half hours drive from where his school is. Most likely, I'll drive down and we'll watch the game together.

Right now the Steelers are a 3.5 point favorite, which, considering home field advantage, isn't much. The game, as Tom notes, is basically even, which I'll take any day. Revis will probably switch off on receivers. Defensively, both teams have the advantage over the offense but Steelers have huge problems in the offensive line.

Yes, when Louis picks the Jets, I better put my money on the Steelers

As noted by George, if you let the Jets hang around so that they're ahead at end of first half or barely behind you're toast. Jets will try to run the ball and eat up clock. Sanchez is not Flocco, who seemed to take a step backward. Their trio of wide receivers will be up to the task as I'm sure the Steelers will be. We'll see who brings the better defensive game plan; that will probably decide it.

But this is all talk and as George said: is it Sunday yet?

Regarding the Patriots, George didn't you say earlier this year that not much was expected this year? In that sense it couldn't be a disappointment. I think the way the offense streamrolled over teams hid the young defense which isn't strong yet. Next year should be a different story with one year under their belt. Moreover, I believe they have a number of draft picks, which should stand them to the good.

Had the Jets lost, this year wouldn't have been a total loss because they would have been improving. The same goes for Sunday. If they lose, they still would have gone to the title game two straight years and when has that happened? You may not like the guy but that is what Rex has brought to this team: making the Jets a winning team. When you're both a Jets and Mets fan (must be something about "ets") you don't expect a lot. Rex has changed that.

I know you will all enjoy this ;): Rex's Gang Green. It's making the rounds.

Oh and Bart Scott is just about the most classy guy wearing cleats, what an orator he is, has to be a mensa member for sure; that rant after the game will go down in history right alongside the Knute Rockne speach.

I just saw that rant that he did with Sal Palontonio. Holy crap, that is one angry man. I would hate to get on his bad side.

It's called roid rage; did he play by the way Sunday, he was invisible for most of the game, loved this line "They couldn't stop a nosebleed".............

I'm pulling for the Jets this weekend only because the Steeler fans are out of control. BUT I don't see it happening. I think the Jets have shot their bolt beating the Colts and Pats on the road. The law of averages will bring the chickens home to roost this weekend. Most teams also come out flat as a pancake after a big, emotional win like this one. And the Steelers know how to win the big ones. Big Ben, for all his personality faults, has been money in the clutch. People forget Sanchez is just a second year QB who only started one year at USC. The Jets will need him to win this game and not just avoid losing it. I'm not sure he can do that. And if he starts forcing the ball, that means trouble.

My 2 cents, did the Steelers win or did the Ravens choke big time? GO JETS...Since I buy stuff from George, he knew I was a Yankees fan, but I never mentioned my attachment to the Jets...did not want to get cut off..:D Michael

No worries Michael, I'll never let sports get in the way of making money..........;), besides, you're a great guy, so all I can say is good luck this weekend..........

Say again. I can't hear you

:D:D:DCongrats on enjoying this win. I didn't see any of the games this weekend- made it home to see the Jets go up 28-14 and that was it- busy with the family in Baltimore.

You'd think after last year people would stop underestimating the Jets- like I did!! Still think they were a better team last year but time will tell.

FWIW- Paul Zimmer picked SB 45 back with SI's Football issue- Pittsburg 33, GB 27- looks like the guy might have a crystal ball.

Ok- my picks this weekend- Steelers 20, Jets 17. This one is awfully close everyway I look at it- I just give the slightest edge to Pittsburgh and the "x" factor and simply, just being able to win. Still, wouldn't be surprised in the least to see it go NY's way either.

GB 34, Chicago 20- GB just has too much- Chicago scores late to make it look closer than in really is.

SB 45- Pittsburgh 27, GB 24- The only weakness I see with GB is that they do not have a running game that can stretch the field at all. I think they will have to rely too heavily on Rodgers. I think a lot of people underestimate GB, and I think Pittsburgh will too in the first half. But, Pitt makes adjustments in the second half, their Big Game experience kicks in and they go on to make it a memorable one.

And there you have it.

This story, about a Jets fans killed by taking a celebratory sled down his driveway on Sunday, has to go down as a bizarre, but ultimately tragic, story. Sad but stupid.

Anyone see Al Davis' press conference? What a freakshow that guy is. Like something out of a horror movie.

That certainly conjures up images of the Colliseum and Imperial Rome.;):D I understand the NFL is debating whether to count those parking lot slobs in the attendance figures for record purposes.

One day to go, so, who's going to win these games. I can't really give a dispassionate answer since I dislike almost every team left. The only team I don't dislike, Da Bears, I know almost nothing about other than Cutler and Urlacher. So who will win? -- Al

You need to ask? :D
