Against the Eagles nothing seem to go right from the get go. First, Fred Warner was injured (although he came back), then the Eagles cheated and got away with it on the first score (Kyle must have been sleeping) and then Purdy was injured. I think one of the SF papers described this as the Lemony Snicket game: a series of unfortunate events. It just wasn’t in the cards that day.
Agree with the post but I blame the NFL. They could have quickly reviewed the play and saw the drop. The NFL replay is still a broken toilet in that in huge games, it is allowing ridiculous and preventable human error to have an effect - look at the Chiefs/Bengals. Same thing.
NOW - all of what I said above, I still think the "correct" teams won the game - ie Eagles still scored alot of points and it just was not the 49ers day. Other game, looking at the last drive - hit was clearly out of bounds, bengals gave the chiefs the game. Bengals have a history of this - remember the Steelers? 2 Personal Fouls - Steelers win. Looking at that game as a whole - there was a lot of missed opps on both sides, so I think the overall better team won.
Again, though the NFL replay cannot continue to miss huge plays, it is amazing the odds that the plays they miss are so critical.
