N.F.L. 21-22 Season (1 Viewer)

Against the Eagles nothing seem to go right from the get go. First, Fred Warner was injured (although he came back), then the Eagles cheated and got away with it on the first score (Kyle must have been sleeping) and then Purdy was injured. I think one of the SF papers described this as the Lemony Snicket game: a series of unfortunate events. It just wasn’t in the cards that day.

Agree with the post but I blame the NFL. They could have quickly reviewed the play and saw the drop. The NFL replay is still a broken toilet in that in huge games, it is allowing ridiculous and preventable human error to have an effect - look at the Chiefs/Bengals. Same thing.

NOW - all of what I said above, I still think the "correct" teams won the game - ie Eagles still scored alot of points and it just was not the 49ers day. Other game, looking at the last drive - hit was clearly out of bounds, bengals gave the chiefs the game. Bengals have a history of this - remember the Steelers? 2 Personal Fouls - Steelers win. Looking at that game as a whole - there was a lot of missed opps on both sides, so I think the overall better team won.

Again, though the NFL replay cannot continue to miss huge plays, it is amazing the odds that the plays they miss are so critical.

I blame Shanahan for that; the receiver immediately got up and started to signal "Go, go, go!!" he knew that was not a catch.........throw the flag there, cost them a TD as that was 4th down.

Not that it mattered, but still, throw the flag based on the player reaction.

The NFL’s Hawkeye technology should have caught but they were asleep too. https://operations.nfl.com/officiating/instant-replay/hawk-eye/

Eagles = cheaters.

49ers secondary did their job in holding Hurts to 121 yards. It would have been even worse had that play not counted.

I agree it was a horrendous call, but hard to blame the Eagles in this case as much as I would like to or call them cheaters. They may not have passed a bunch, but they scored. EVERY NFL team has a hurry up if they think a call is close, they all do it. I again blame the NFL, this nonsense should be easy to stop.

Only in sports is it considered fine to try to get away with effectively cheating. Imagine if a player for once just admitted to the ref that they didn't make a catch etc? There was no way the Niners were winning that game, though.

The one thing we can all forget after the Niner’s loss is the idea that anyone can QB that team to victory.

Johnson came in and pretty much looked liked me if I was suddenly called in.

Purdy may or may not ever fully return from his injury but what he did this year was equal parts skill and system.

Shanahan and Lynch expect Purdy and Lance to be ready for training camp and fight it out for starter. Shanahan says they’ve moved on from Jimmy.

He said that about Jimmy G last year as well. The problem is finding another team to take him. Better to have too many QBs than too few, though.

He's a free agent so it's not their concern anymore.

I never really understood the rush to unload him. The Niners were one dropped INT from the Super Bowl last year. He played well again this year in their system but they practically pulled up the moving van to the stadium to get rid of him. Purdy played only a handful of games and suffered a serious injury. The other guy played only a couple games. Not a great sign.

In the seven games Purdy played this year he showed he was a more dynamic QB than Jimmy. He also seems to fit Shanahan’s system better and was given freer rein than Jimmy received. I don’t think Shanahan really trusted Jimmy. Of course, it remains to be seen if Purdy will be the same player he was before the injury.

Local news has him long gone, citing a long simmering dispute with Shanahan.

They also say Jimmy G. might be headed to Houston, New York (Jets) or even Miami since all of these teams are coached by former Niner assistants.

Besides being an inconsistent passer, the big trouble with him is he’s seldom healthy for a full season. Miami and NY are win now teams. What they lack is a good QB. Taking on Jimmy is a risk, unless you have a very good backup, because he will likely get hurt.

It's strange because the Niners had a lot of success with Jimmy G. and he seems like a decent guy. Particularly in comparison to most other NFL players. They really treated him with disrespect both this year and last year. Still can't understand the Purdy-mania. He played well but almost any middling QB would play well on a team that talented. Then he was seriously injured after only playing a few games. How is he going to hold up in the longer term if he is the starter?

My Super Bowl prediction is that the Eagles fly. I'm going with an old-school blowout in which Mahomes doesn't last beyond halftime. On one leg, with no running game, and a hodge podge of middling receivers, he is a doomed as doomed can be to quote Ed Grimley. It might get ugly like the Niners blowout.

Eagles 37
KC 17

Mahomes is expected to be fully healthy on Sunday so I’m seeing a close game, KC for the win. If KC can cover Hurts as well as SF did, it could be a king day for the little birdies.

I have absolutely no interest in this game.

I hate Andy Reid and I can’t stand the Eagles organization.

I might watch in case there are some decent commercials.

My predictions:
Indian Chiefs should beat Eagles, unless they have the Great Spirit in their wings.
I see the Vikings as desperate, the Saxons as over-confident, and the Normans as lucky (by taking the right opportunities, to be sure.)
Oh, wait, wrong thread.:wink2: No clue what will go on here. Maybe if a city was exchanged at the end I would care more;).
Just kidding and this is my only Sports post,
Happy Super Bowl!

A friend of mine tried to get our group together to watch the Super Bowl, there are about 16 of us who get together to watch Patriots games/football on Sundays.....................

He told me today the party is off, only 3 people want to get together to watch it.

After Nick Foles had the #$%^ing game of his life in the Super Bowl vs the Patriots (if someone references 'The Philly special one more time I'm going to blow a head gasket) and the media's new 'thing' is to compare Reid to Belichick, I could give two ****s about who wins.

I'd rather watch a hanging.
