N.F.L. 21-22 Season (2 Viewers)

Big money, long term deals almost never pay off for a team. Particularly in sports like hockey and football where careers and performance are limited by injuries and age. I think some players also crumble under the pressure of big money expectations or stop caring so much about performance once the deal is inked. Many GMs are concerned with only a win now mentality to keep their jobs, though. So they tend to sign these deals to keep a star player not caring about the implications down the road when they are likely gone.

George...I thought the standard length of an NFL drafted rookie QB was 4 years...and they could begin re-negotiations after 3 years...

I thought they were 5 year deals, maybe I'm wrong.

If they are not, they should be.

Rams and Bucs will be a great game. I expect Brady to make a lot of quick passes to avoid the pass rush. Chicago did that with Dalton in game one with some success. He was able to release the ball on average within 2 seconds. Not possible to get much of a pass rush under those circumstances. Brady is a master at that. The Rams have been playing a bend but don't break D willing to give up some yards. That might have to change. I would force Brady to beat me down the field under a pass rush rather than letting him snap and throw to move the chains down the field.

I'm going with my bias: Rams 30 Bucs 27.

I am no fan of predictions or the Rams but I can see them winning it all this year no matter what happens against Tampa Bay.

The Patriots stink, 1-2 after three weeks, I had them at 3-0 at this point in my annual W, L, W, W, L, etc, etc record projection.

Now I'm thinking 6-11, 5-12.

Take Tampa and the over next week, they are going to demolish this team.

some of the scores surprised me too...

didn't think KC would lose 2 in a row...given up 99 points in 3 games...
that loss put Andy Reid in the hospital...

Bucs were getting 2 1/2...but didn't expect them to lose by the margin they did...
the Rams snuffed the rooster...Brady had to throw 55 times to try and get back in the game...

I'm sweating the Dallas game tomorrow night...
then against 3-0 Carolina next week...

I didn't watch that game...but it's early...
there's still 14 games left...
we're not even a 1/5th through the season yet...

I watched Pittsburgh and the Ryder Cup...

that opening line seems low to me...
Tampa -5 1/2 against NE...I was thinking -9-10...

and the Steelers did not look great today either...

Watched the Ravens win at the gun on a record setting 66 yd FG that should never have taken place. On the previous play, the play clock ran out a good count or two before the ball was snapped. Refs somehow completely missed it so no delay penalty that would have put the FG attempt even further back. As it was, the ball hit the crossbar and barely bounced across. Detroit must be livid right about now. Detroit was also the victim of Dempsey's 63 yarder that set the record in 1970. That kick stood as the record for 28 years and was tied for the record until 2013. -- Al

Give the points and take the over, Brady is not losing two games in a row, nor is he losing to the Patriots, the team that dumped him, he's coming here torked off and to prove a point.

It's going to be an epic beat down.

The Rams looked great today, Stafford looks great and that defense is something else.

Their stadium is incredible, what an achievement, it looks like a great experience for the fans.

Stafford is like Cool Hand Luke. Every player and coach on the Rams are better for having him on the team. A great example of how one guy can make a huge difference. Goff was a talented QB. But he was like the European tennis players that I remember as a kid. Great mechanics but no fire in the belly. Goff was like a robot who fell apart when things got tough. The story about Stafford and his family attending the Little League games of the kids of his OL players says it all. He is all in on winning. No ego. If Stafford stays healthy, the Rams have a great shot this year.

I agree with you on one point, it should never had come to a last second kick, when the Ravens receivers drop 3 Touchdown passes it should have be a blow out by the 4th quarter 🤬🤬🤬...I understand injuries, Covid-19 players out but the Ravens can not continue to play for the last possession, thank God for Tucker!! 66 yards!! Unreal.

Right? Brown dropped 2 TD passes, nothing complicated and Lamar dropped them both into his hands and Brown just plain dropped them. It was bad. Tucker pulled their fat out of the fire for sure. -- Al

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

And sometimes the refs blow a call and don't throw a flag for delay of game.

That's quite the horseshoe the Ravens have wedged up their collective *****.

I'd be embarrassed if my team won in a chicken **** way like that, but hey, a win is win.

Very sporting of you to admit the Ravens had zero business winning that game.

Because they didn't, the play clock CLEARLY hit 00, yet no penalty.

Total BS.

Holy Smoke!

I missed that...that means it was from their own 49 yard line?

Unreal!

George, I remember watching the play clock go to 0 and thought they had blown their slim chance through carelessness. Was shocked to see the play proceed with no whistle. A pitifully obvious error by the refs. I believe it is a belated payback for the refs blown FG call when Green Bay beat the Colts in 1965. :rolleyes2: -- Al
