N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

If it was strife with bill or pats didn’t want him etc, I’m still a fan. If it was to get $2mil more, not a fan. I’m a big fan of team loyalty - I hate this part of sports these days

Belichick wasn't going to resign him for another couple of years. Brady is well past his prime. Any other coach likely would have made that mistake out of loyalty but no such risk there.

My Rams are trying to unload Gurley and Cooks with no takers. Both are decent players but they can't even give them away for nothing due to their enormous contracts. A cautionary tale for those long term, big money deals.

Whatdya mean? Today's players are very loyal: To their "personal brand" and, of course, the almighty dollar! Do not be misled.

PS: The epitome of this kind of "loyalty" in pro sports is LeBron.

All things end badly or they would not end as the saying goes.

Best of luck to him.

I don't see what hanging on for two more years will prove, it is to show everyone he can win a Super Bowl without Belichick? Is if for the money, how much money does one really need?

Some sports writer here came up with this one "So after trading away Jimmy G, "all" that the Patriots got out of it was two more trips to the Super Bowl/one win"...………..

Wow, talk about out to lunch.

I can think of many fans around the league who would be thrilled with two trips to the Super Bowl/one win.

So again; does this mean the Patriots are no longer the most hated team in the league?

If so, that's a win...………………...

Personally, I lived through the greatness and am sort of interested to follow the rebuild!

He’s expected to sign with the Bucs. Weird.

WHY, i agree, it is a odd decision. It can't be about money can it? Unless he squandered it somewhere, the Bucs have as much chance as I do of winning the SB no matter who the QB is.

I can understand a guy with Brady's massive ego hanging on too long. It's what happens when you are constantly told that you are a god. But the Bucs? Wow. Brady could have gone to LA, played in the new stadium, and been a mega celeb with the Chargers who are a playoff caliber team. But the Bucs? Can't wait to see Brady in that horrible uniform getting planted in front of a half empty stadium. And the fans in the stands wearing his Bucs XFL jersey. Not going to be pretty.

The Colts just signed Philip Rivers to a $25 million deal for one year! Rivers the washed up has been that the Chargers couldn't wait to unload. Double wow.

Tampa is ****canning that hideous uniform and going back to the won they wore when they won the Super Bowl in 2002.

Eighteen years ago.

Which is the last time they won a playoff game.

Tampa fans are ecstatic over this signing, just ask all nine of them.

When they won the Super Bowl in 2002, a whopping 100.000 fans stormed downtown Tampa to watch the parade.

When the Patriots last won a Super Bowl, over a million people jammed downtown Boston to see it.

He's in for a shock down in Tampa.

That said, they feature two of the top ten WR's in football; few people know this, but it's true.

That down the field offense Tampa features will not suit Brady well, he of the dink and dunk approach.

He'll get killed behind that offensive line.

Let the Stedham/Steadman/Steddleburg/whatever the name of their back up QB is/era begin in Foxboro...…………………….

Kraft and Belichick are getting killed for letting Brady walk; apparently they were supposed to shell out 60 million over two years for a 43 year old QB, then surround him with mediocre talent.

The rebuild had to begin at some point, he wasn't going to play forever.

The attitude people have is amazing; yeah, let's pay him for past performance, that's always a smart move.

Adios Tom...…………………………….

I can't remember 2002. The only Tampa uniforms I can remember were those Orange Julius colored ones when they went 0-14. Lee Roy Selmon. I'm sure Brady thinks this will work out because he is the greatest QB in NFL history but it's over. He is like Elvis in those last days sweating and forgetting the words. The right move for your Pats. They will end up signing someone better than Brady. I would trade Goff to them for a bag of peanuts and a seat cushion to get rid of his ridiculous salary. I'll throw Gurley in for a $10 coupon to Dunkin Donuts.

For the life of me I don't understand his decision to play two more years and sign with Tampa.

Aside from the obvious 60 million dollars, what is the end game here?

Let's just say he gets Tampa to the playoffs this year and then next year they win the Super Bowl.

AND??……………..

What will that accomplish?

So the greatest QB of all time wins one without Belichick?

What if the next two years are a tire fire?

Just proves the old saying "As a fan, I cheer for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back".....

The opinions around here are all over the map, everywhere from "Thank you Tom, you're the greatest to what an ingrate, of all times to do this, people are losing their jobs and their businesses, to Kraft and Belichick lost me, I'm done as a fan, to meh, good riddance, let the whatever the new guys name is era begin"...…………………

For me; it was a great, historic run, will never see anything like it again, it had to end sometime and when it did, it would end badly, so it's time to move on...…………..plus I have much bigger things to worry about right now...……………………..

It's ego. He has been told for the last decade or more that he is the greatest QB in history. He thinks he will take Tampa to the SB and show the world how great he is and prove his greatness was not dependent on Belicheat. These guys live in their own fantasy world surround by sycophants who constantly tell them they can do no wrong. He will be shocked when Tampa goes 8-8 and he gets plastered.

I watched an interview with Chris Long yesterday. The interviewer asked about Brady fitting into a new team etc.

He answered by telling the story of the first time he stepped into the Patriots’ locker room.

Long says he walked in and met a few players. He said that Brady walked up, extended his hand and said, “Hello, I’m Tom.....”. Long said he looked back and thought, I know, you are one of the greatest players ever! Yet Brady acts like just another player.

He went on to say that Brady is one of the most humble people he has ever met, a true team player who just wants to win.

The Rams cut Todd Gurley. They end taking a big salary cap hit. What a fall from grace. A couple years ago he was the top back in the league. Now he has a gimpy knee and no one will touch him.

This is the time of year where I realize that I am not as big of an NFL fan as I think I am.

I do not know most of the players being signed to really big contracts.

Interesting trend that there is no market for some superstars. The Rams couldn't get a bag of peanuts for Gurley. They ended up cutting him to get rid of some of his salary. Jameis Winston can't find any team interested in him even though he led the NFL in passing yards last year. Winston must be a real knucklehead. If the Pats had signed him, it would have been disasterous. As though Beantown doesn't have enough problems with star players fleeing and teams under investigation. They didn't need that headache.

Heard today

“I’m
Not surprised at all that Brady went to Tampa, all old people from New England go to Florida” !!!

It looks more like the Chargers logo than the Rams.

I remember back in the mid 1980's the Patriots were thinking of getting rid of "Pat Patriot" in favor of a new logo, so they had a contest at halftime at a game. First, some bozo on the 50 yard line held up Pat Patriot, the crowd went wild, then he held up the proposed new logo, a mishmash of a tricorne hat and the American flag...……………...they booed it back to the stone age.

So that was that. I loved that logo and their red shirts, when they changed the uniform in the early 1990's, I hated it, it was awful. Now whenever they wear their throwback uniforms, it looks awful.

Funny how your perception of things changes over time.

Yes, the fans hate it. Another marketing driven effort to make money in the age of idiocracy. They claimed they spent two years working with Nike on this but a high school kid could have done better while smoking a doobie in homeroom. Eric Dickerson is trying to get it altered. There was a second logo with the Rams head. When you put them together it looks much better. They are also redesigning the uniforms. I'm sure they will screw that up as well.
