N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

Sad to hear that Tom Dempsey has passed away from the virus. He was a sports pioneer for people with disabilities. His 63-yd game winning FG back in the day was the stuff of legend.

The Rams managed to unload Cooks. Thank goodness for the Texans. At least they get a second round pick. What a disaster. They still take something like a $40 million hit in cap space on his $80 million plus contract.

Was sorry to see that former Baltimore Colt's linebacker Mike Curtis passed away today at age 77. Had been battling CTE. He was a tough, old school type linebacker and I loved watching him. RIP, Mike. -- Al

Haven't really bothered with sports period since this **** show began, but that said......../

Gronk to Tampa? He's dropped about 50 pounds, good luck with that Gronk. Does the league still test for weed, asking for a friend.

If he comes back and is a shell of his former self, it won't be pretty..

Just goes to show he really didn't want to retire, he clearly did not like Belichick, which I gather is the case with most of his current and former players.

But hey, 6 Super Bowls I'll take.

The Patriots rolled out new uniforms; mother of God are they awful. I hate that one color look, they are going with all navy blue at home, white shirt, navy pants on the road, then they kept the silver helmet, which I don't get.

San Diego did as well; the powder blue jersey is back, as are the gold pants................OUTSTANDING, A+ for sure. They also have the lightning bolt on the helmet along with the player number, too bad Brady did not go there, I'd be an instant Chargers fan with him there and that uniform, I'm still a fan with the uniform.

Bravo.

" I didn't even know Tampa Bay had a football team"....my daughter watching ESPN with me this morning when we heard the Gronk news.

Yes, I generally believe any change is bad and that often is true but those Charger uniforms are pretty nice. I'm sure my Rams will screw up their uniforms, though, when they make the announcement soon. They blew the logo big time. The fans hate it. The Rams claimed they spent two years working on that with Nike and it turned out worse than most high school kids could have done.

Nike and UnderArmour in general have turned out horrid designs on things like this. When both keep it simple, you get a much better result. I am glad my team has always left well enough alone, I like the timeless, classic Steelers that they wear.

Three NFL uniforms that are sacred and should never be messed with;

Steelers
Packers
Cowboys

The rest of them can bring Nike in all they want and screw up their uniforms seven ways to Sunday for all I care.

And I heard the Browns changed their uniform; AGAIN??

They've changed it 900 times since they handed Cleveland the Browns franchise back, even though they are actually in Baltimore.

The AFC East has without a doubt four of the most horrible uniforms in the league.

Hey, the Patriots are going to be a laughing stock again, might as well bring back Pat Patriot, the red jerseys and go into full tank mode; if you're going to be a laughing stock, you might as well dress like one.

Tom:

I have always liked the way all three Pittsburgh teams have the same colors.

The jersey market must be huge money for the NFL. That's probably why each team now has several variations and so many teams are changing this year. The prices are outrageous. They probably make them in China for $10 bucks and sell them here for $300. I can't remember fans ever wearing jerseys to games back in the 80s and 90s. That practice evolved to the point that almost everyone in the stadium now wears one. Men, women, and kids. A big market.

Jerry rockin the 2020 Draft from his $250M Yacht like a BOSS!!! {sm3}{sm3}

Coach McCarthy was all up in the camera looking like Santa.

Hard to believe that yacht costs $100M more than Dallas did back in 89......also hard to believe he was my age when he took over down there!!!

Some very sad news from Cowboy land- Prescott's 31 year old brother passed away yesterday.....love that kid and hope he can make it through that sudden loss. Hard life for him losing his mom and now one of his brothers.

Some of those guys drafted last night from the SEC and Clemson were absolute monsters in terms of size and speed. No wonder they dominate college football. Unreal. I'm not sure if it is the training or something else going on but they are gigantic even in comparison to other players. The film clips of Derrick Brown from Auburn were like watching Godzilla in Tokyo.

Yeah, sports merchandising is a gigantic industry in this country.

A friend of mine showed me a picture awhile ago of myself, him and about 10 of our friends who flew to Miami in 1986 to see the AFCCG in person, his uncle scored us tickets.

Not a single one of us has any patriots gear on, you would never guess where we were in the picture.

Whenever they show crowd shots of fans at games in the 70's and 80's, hardly anyone has any sort of gear on; now in a crowd shot, there are a handful of people WITHOUT gear on.

Always a good look for some 50 something to be shoehorned into a player jersey, that's quite the look...…………….

My friend texted me last night around 11:30 saying "Same old Patriots" and I replied "What do you mean?" and he came back with "They just traded out of the first round"...……..

I honestly had no clue the draft was last night.

Needless to say, when this thing blows over in 4 or 5 years, I don't think I will be going back to sports; never say never, but if I do, it will never be at the level it once was for me.

During this time, I have found other activities to entertain myself with...……...

I give Belichick credit that he doesn't get enticed by skill players or superstars. He has a team system that makes average players good enough to win championships. Teams that get fixated on superstar players and skill positions never win championships. The Rams are a great example. Tonight they drafted a RB and WR in the second round despite a terrible OL.

Well one thing I keep hearing over and over is how he drafts players that fit his system and if there is a more talented player on the board, he takes the other guy, the guy that fits into his system.

I really can't argue with the results as you said.

I am torn on the draft.

i like watching it to see the excitement on the players faces as they go to the next level.

On the other hand, most of them will never make it beyond the moment their names are called.

Its humorous all the articles that come immediately after the draft, purporting to rate or grade the performance of each team's picks.

Meanwhile, each player follows his unique career path. Some surprise to the upside, some to the downside. A few are stellar from the get go. Some get better over time. And some flame out early.

But sports writers / commentators pen articles as if they know, the next day, which team had the best, and worst, draft.

How absurd.

Rutledge...so true...if they didn't put their spin on the draft...they would have nothing else to write about...sensationalism is alive and well...
