N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

I have not heard of half of the players being signed to huge contracts with big guaranteed money. Either I don't watch enough football or some mediocre players are cashing in.

Ever notice how the teams that throw crazy money around on the first day or two of free agency are the bottom of the barrel teams? They sign mediocre talent to mega contracts and then wonder why they don't make the playoffs every year...…………………...speaking of which, with the Dolphins in full tank mode this year and the Bills being the Bills, the Jets with their signings the past few days have positioned themselves nicely to be that one annoying AFC East road opponent for New England that gives them fits and screws up their playoff seeding like Miami did last year and back in 2016, costing them HFA advantage both times.

Luckily it mattered not last year, but in 2016 had they played Frankenforehead and his noodle arm at home, they win the AFCCG and beat Carolina in the SB, thus having 7 SB wins, getting up "the stairway to SEVEN" before the Steelers could...…………………….

I think the bad teams like the Jets have to do so to get players to come play them whereas the good and well known teams like the Pats and Packers don’t.

when they do this...
it inflates the market for any deal for that position afterwards...

the players have big egos to go with their talent...
they all want to be the highest paid in the league...

once that peak is met...
they next guy wants the same or more...

usually 4-5 players have the lion's share of the team's cap...

the rest are nickle and dime players...
fresh drafts playing at the minimum...
or guys that can't command the big bucks...

every year's free agency picks...
blows the market out of the water...

I saw some of Kyler Murray's pro day workout.

He is clearly a mix of Otto Graham, Johnny Unitas, John Elway, Brett Farve, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

The Cardinals should definitely draft him with the number 1 pick.

^&grin

The Chiefs were a play or 2 away from going to the Super Bowl, yet they have decided to tear down their roster and rebuild.

Sounds like the Rams are interested in Clay Matthews. A good fit if he has any gas left in the tank. He is a SoCal native.

I'm guessing Mr. Kraft is gonna get off on this...

Attorneys for New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft filed a motion Wednesday to suppress evidence -- notably the video evidence -- in his solicitation of prostitution case, according to a source.

The motion is an effort to make sure that the surveillance video, described as graphic and ****ing, isn't released if he doesn't reach a plea deal with prosecutors. It also is a warning shot to prosecutors that Kraft's legal team will try to go after the state's case by saying there was no probable cause to collect the evidence in the first place.

The Palm Beach County State Attorney's office offered Kraft and 24 other men a diversion deal Monday night that would allow the men to avoid prosecution if they meet certain conditions. A diversion deal would expunge their cases and seal all evidence.

Under the initial deal that was offered, prosecutors would drop misdemeanor solicitation charges if the men pay $5,000 fines for each offense (Kraft was charged with two), complete an educational course about prostitution, submit to testing for sexually transmitted diseases and admit in court that they would have been found guilty had the case gone to trial.

It's that last point that could derail a deal.

A source close to Kraft said, "That's not going to happen," and said the 77-year-old would rather fight the charges in court than admit to a crime. Sources said that the two sides were continuing to negotiate and that Kraft had not rejected the deal outright.

If Kraft accepts a diversion program offer, it means that, in a legal sense, the incident never happened. But he would also essentially be admitting to the facts of the case: that he allegedly received sexual services at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida, on Jan. 19 and 20. Kraft has never specifically denied receiving sexual services at the spa, but through a spokesperson denied having committed a crime.

Kraft is said to be especially concerned about having his name connected to accusations of sex trafficking. When law enforcement officials first announced the arrests of spa operators last month, they described it as a sex trafficking case. But documents show that the two women Kraft is accused of receiving services from likely were not trafficked: One is 39 and was charged with operating illegal activity at the spa; the other is 58. Both have valid driver's licenses, and both are licensed as massage therapists by the state of Florida. So far, no one in the case has been charged with human trafficking.

And it is done. A two-year deal. I hope Clay still has some fire in his belly. In a perfect world, he would always have been a LA Ram having played at USC. He is the SoCal prototype. And not the soft surfer dude of myth. This guy was tough as nails from the get go.

Mike:

Maybe it is because of where I live, but every time I turn on sports talk in Texas it seems like another Cowboy is in trouble.

Jason...

I was thinking the whole NFL needs a good bath...
from owners to retired player...
from seasoned players to rookies...

Dallas does have it's own set of clowns though...

not sure what happened on this...
the bar staff says one thing...
Crawford says another...

I know he wore out those 5-6 guys trying to take him down...

he's a big man...
too big to man handle...
don't know what happened yet that started it...
but those boys in the red shirts had their hands full...

Mike:

I am definitely not throwing stones as the Niners have consistently made the police blotter in California. Somehow though it always seems magnified with the Cowboys. One local radio host in San Antonio said that Jerry wants the bright lights on his team all the time, unfortunately he can't filter out the bad and keep the good news in the spotlight.

Jason...
don't take it personal...
I don't...
Jerry and the Cowboys are easy targets for the press...
they have as many haters as NE does...
I'm not related to Crawford or any of the bouncers...
no reflection on me...
I don't know the whole story yet...
gotta hear both sides before I pass judgement...
Crawford looks like he is fighting 5-6 red shirt guys at once and throwing them around like rag dolls...
he's 6'4"s and 280 pounds...
no fat...all muscle...
the Sheriff will give him a 4-6 game suspension regardless...

"Jerry and the Cowboys are easy targets for the press...

The Cowboys are widely hated all because they were labeled "America's team" back in the 1970's.

It was not their idea, they were given the nickname and blue collar fans from Green Bay and Pittsburg and other cities were irate over it, the Cowboys were somehow identified as glamor boys or some other such nonsense.

As a kid, I grew up as a Packers fan, my brothers attended Lynn High School and their team colors were green and gold, so I identified with Green Bay, also loved the Vikings as a kid too as well as the Raiders, loved those silver and black uniforms and also Dallas as I got older.

So for me, it was those four teams and naturally the Patriots, first the Boston Patriots, then New England.

I've dropped my allegiance to Green Bay (thanks mainly to them beating New England in the Super Bowl), the Raiders thanks to the screw job loss in the 1976 playoffs and the Vikings (when they moved from their outdoor stadium in Bloomington and most of the "Purple people eaters" retired, the shine wore off the apple), down to New England in the AFC and Dallas in the NFC, still love the Cowboys, really loved them in the early 1990's, what a wagon that team was, demolishing Buffalo twice in the Super Bowl and Pittsburg once...……….that win is one of my all time favorite Super Bowl wins, if the Steelers QB could have remembered his team wore the DARK colored jerseys, they probably win that game...………………….

The Dallas hate I really don't get, they haven't been to a Super Bowl in over 20 years...…………….

Rob Gronkowski, aka "the wounded rhino", announced his retirement a short time ago.

What a talent and as great as he was, his career was cut short due to injuries.

Still, he goes out on top, made a great catch on the dagger TD drive vs the Rams.

Enjoy retirement Gronk...……………..

he was a brute!
hard for a safety to tackle him one on one in close quarters or open field.....

That was the best decision for him. Football is a brutal game and you tell he wasn't right. Too many athletes prolong the agony and put themselves at risk by hanging on. I never understood it. Maybe ego and the realization that the glory days are behind them but if you have made millions, then why not go out on top before you have brain damage? A great player.

As the saying goes, it's better to leave a year early than a year too late...…………….watched a highlight video of his, for the most part it reminded me of when I was a kid and we'd play kill the man with the ball and my cousin, who was 5 years older than the rest of us would play and he run around all day and the rest of us would be getting whipped around like rag dolls until he ran out of gas and 10 of us assaulted him at once and brought him down...……………

He was a man among boys, when he first came into the league he was fast as well as huge, his knee injuries took a toll.

He played 9 seasons and went to 8 AFCCG's and 5 Super Bowls, winning 3...………...quite a resume just on that alone.
