N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

I know it sounds crazy, but in some ways Gronk is a role model. He is walking away from the game when he could still play a few more years, but he knows that those few more years could cost in injuries, longevity and quality of life later on down the line.

I hope other players do the same.

He’s a model for how these guys should handle their money too. He never bought an extravagant house and supposedly has lived on his endorsements, saving every cent of his salary

Let's just hope he can enjoy his post football life and live a normal life, not suffering from physical ailments and CTE.

He made a smart decision but he is a long way from being a role model. Granted in the NFL if you don't murder or assault someone that means you are a choir boy but Gronk was mostly an immature knucklehead who never had to grow up.

Antonio brown claiming he was blindsided by trade on Twitter! What? Could he have done anything more to guarantee he was traded???

Wait, what?

That is like going to a restaurant and ordering a steak. Then when the steak comes you look right at the waiter and say, "why did you bring me a steak?"

The best part of that whole trade is that Antonio Brown is now teammates with Vontaze Burfict.

So the Saints whining finally got the NFL to make PI reviewable. I can't wait until games start getting decided on PI reviews. Like holding, you can call that on almost every play when you slow it down and review from every angle. It's going to be like "goalie interference" reviews in the NHL. It's going to be subjective in most instances. Coaches will wait until a crucial moment and make a challenge regardless of whether they believe there was interference and hope the refs bail them out. Karma has the first big review going against the Saints.

The Chefs tried to get the OT rule changed as well but no dice.

I hate this new rule; as you said, just what we need. And speaking of goalie interference and whether a goal is a goal or not; 99% of the time, I see it and make up my mind one way and the final ruling is always in the other direction, the commentators then whine about it for ten minutes.

And the whole "the puck has to completely cross the line for it to be a goal" is as idiotic as it gets; the football only has to break the plain (or is it plane, always get those two confused...……….:wink2:) and when you score a run in baseball, you only have to catch part of the plate, so if the puck crosses the line to any degree, it should be a goal.

But I digress; back to your original point...……….the new rule is idiotic.

The NFL constantly overreacts to missed calls.

It seems like every off-season their is some huge committee meeting about adding/changing rules because of one incident.

The Pats are apparently interested in Josh Rosen. Someone may need to revive George if Rosen is the future and they have to trade away anyone of value. Big Bill is probably too smart to go down that rabbit hole.

They were considering offering a second, but the Cardinals are holding out for a first...…………..hard pass.

I can't imagine Brady would be too pleased with a knucklehead like Rosen waiting for him to retire. And Rosen is not going to quietly sit on the bench for a couple of years. So I don't see it happening. The Giants will more likely make the deal. As though they don't have enough problems. Rosen has talent but he is a loud mouth and doesn't have the stamina to play in the NFL without getting injured.

The absolute best thing I read about the Patriots and the 2019 draft said that they will draft QB Daniel Jones as Brady's successor and three years from now when Brady is still playing they will trade Jones to a team in either the NFC West or the AFC West.

Weird story about the Pats new DC quitting to spend more time with his family. Whenever that is cited you know there is trouble. Particularly when he was just hired.

What about just requiring players to move at slow motion speed in real life? No more tedious reviews slowing the pace of play!

When it comes to off season drama, the Patriots wrote the book on it.

The two super bowl teams from last year (Rams and Pats) are projected to have two of the softest schedules in 2019. In large part, because they play in weak divisions. The Rams get the Falcons, Cowboys and Steelers on the road and Bears, Saints, and Ravens in LA though. So that doesn't sound too easy.

The Patriots and Rams both have to play the greatest NFL team ever assembled (according to every sports channel and website) in the 2019, the Cleveland Browns.

Browns will get to the Superbowl right as the comet hits.:wink2: -- Al

I have been following the Cardinals' draft drama with a vested interest as whatever they do with their pick effects the Niners. The more I read about it the more I get the feeling that whatever they do it will be a disaster. Arizona is just that type of franchise.
