N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

The thing I fear with starters not playing at all in the preseason is that it will lead to an 18 game season. And this idea that players can only play in 16 of the games is just the dumbest idea ever. The owners aren't just going to get rid of the preseason.
Not only do starters not play in the preseason but it doesn't look like they do any contact in training camp either. All of the practices I see just look like walk throughs. I have a feeling in the future all games are going to have the same level of quality as the Pro Bowl.

I know the pre-season doesn't matter but...........

Jimmy G is not looking all that great.

I wish you luck with him, but I have to wonder if him flashing here in New England for a game and half had more to do with A.) The system and the players around him and B.) the two teams he faced, the Cardinals and the Doofins, both of whom stunk at the time.

I remember how torked off around here fans were when they traded him; they did not get enough, they should have kept him somehow, they should have gotten rid of Brady...………….:rolleyes2:...……………

Time will tell.

Right now he is more Matt Cassel than Tom Brady.

I'd actually be ok with that if the Niners didn't give him that massive contract.

QB's in the NFL are a total and utter crap shoot; did any sane individual think when the Patriots drafter Brady with the 199th pick in the 6th round that he'd turn out the way he did?

Did anyone think Ryan Leaf would NOT be a multiple time Pro Bowler.

The kid the Patriots drafted this year out of Auburn by way of LSU was regarded as the QB with the best arm in the draft, yet he fell all the way to the Patriots...…………..again, you never know.

Yes, he didn’t look good but he also hasn’t played since September or early October of 2018 and showed signs of rust.

I am certainly not giving up on him, but he needs to shake the rust off soon.

According to local sports coverage he has also not looked good in practices either, including simple walk throughs.

The good news is that the Niners open against the Bucs and the Bengals. I think they can win those 2 but after that they play the Steelers, the Browns and then the Rams.

I have a sinking feeling about my Rams. Gurley is clearly not right. Their offense has struggled. Not sold on Goff being an elite QB. Hope I'm wrong and they are just coasting into the regular season. The renovations on the LA Coliseum look great. So at least the stadium will look good even if things go south. Can't wait to see how they screw up the iconic uniforms when they move to the new stadium next season.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, preseason is such a crapshoot and really not a true indicator of how a team is going to do in the regular season.

The Gurley thing is a mystery, he was clearly hurt last year and they tried to sidestep that, not sure what is going on with him now as you're closer to the team than I am.

As far as the uniforms; I don't get how hard it is to just go back to blue and white helmets, blue jerseys, white pants, to me that was, is and always will be the Rams...…........they are back where they belong, never should have left in the first place………….stop with the 2019 bells and whistles Nike/whatever flashy crap, nothing wrong with a little tradition every now and again.

And speaking of football, I saw the logos and teams for the XFL; good lord, yet another spin off football league...........try and try again, for what reason I have no idea.....................the logos look like something out of that horrible movie with Al Pacino and frying pan face Cameron Diaz....Any Given Sunday..............God awful uniforms and team names.......................

I truly think (barring injuries) that the final four from last year might be the same this year.

The Chiefs, Patriots, Rams and Saints are heads above the rest of the NFL.

I don’t know but it seems to me very rare that the same four teams repeat year over year. Whether through injuries, bad luck, karma, or other, I’m sure at least one new team will come to the fore.

According to the preseason power rankings in the AFC, the list is;

Patriots
Chiefs
Colts
Texans
Chargers
Browns
Ravens
Jets

Not sure about the Colts at #3 as Luck has a calf injury that could be a big problem; without him as their starter, I can't see how they are 3rd.

Also, a lot of talking heads have the Iggles going to the Super Bowl.

Good Lord, please no; are they going to roll out that Harry High School play again on the goal line?

As soon as Folsie went into motion, the Patriots DC should have called a time out, they caught the Patriots with their pants down on that one...……….just brutal they scored a TD there, forever known as THE PHILLY SPECIAL!!, just like the Tyree catch will forever be known as THE HELMET CATCH!!

Two nut punch Super Bowl losses thanks to NFC East teams, just wonderful.

I heard an interesting line about Philly and the playoffs:

In the last 2 years the Eagles have won 4 playoff games, including the Super Bowl. Carson Wentz did not play in any of those wins.

Hopefully that trend continues, ie no wins for him, period.

Pats gonna have to do it without Chung!
Indicted for cocaine! Ugh

I'm confused about this story; indicted but not arrested...……..his house alarm went off, police arrived, no one home, they had "probable cause" to enter his home...…..

How so? Any sign of forced entry? What gave them "cause" to enter a house no one was home at?...……………

No one was home, but they found cocaine...………..where? On the kitchen table? In the bedroom? In the bathroom?

In plain sight? Or did they tear the house apart looking for it.

Wasn't aware the police could enter you home and start rummaging through your ****...……

You learn something new everyday.

"With Patriots safety Patrick Chung indicted on felony cocaine possession charges, Patriots fans are bracing for (and non-Patriots fans are rooting for) Chung not being available this season. While that would happen if the Patriots choose to release Chung, the league cannot suspend Chung, with or without pay, based on these allegations.
Chung’s alleged misconduct does not fall under the Personal Conduct Policy. The substance-abuse policy covers criminal conduct involving substances of abuse, and the substance-abuse policy contains clear language on what can, and thus can’t, be done to a player who merely faces criminal charges, whether misdemeanor or felony."

Ie, the league can't touch him.

But, the Patriots can release him if they choose to do so.

We'll see what happens.

It's never ever boring when it comes to the Patriots; spygate, Deflategate, Kraft getting his pole waxed, Edelman suspended for PED's, now this...……….

George...

I would think if they were called for an alarm going off...
they would of done a thorough search of his house once inside...
including closets...pantries...under the bed...etc...

if it were me...my first defense was that someone had broken into my house...maybe they set me up...

but they shouldn't be allowed to search through his drawers or desk...
only allowed where it's reasonable that a burglar could hide...

is cocaine tested for in their random drug tests?

this article says he can be disciplined even if not convicted...

Under the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, players convicted or who admit to a violation of the law are subject to discipline by the commissioner. First-time offenders can be suspended up to four games.

Per the league’s personal-conduct policy, illegal possession of drugs can result in discipline even if the violator isn’t convicted.

I don't know police procedure, but when they arrive at a house due to an alarm going off, if there is no one home, how do they gain access to the home? If there is no sign of forced entry, how to they gain access to the house?

I wasn't aware that once they gain access to a house, they are within their rights to rummage through the house looking for illegal items such as drugs and guns.

my neighbor's goes off all the time...when the police come...all they do is check the doors and walk the premises...

when I was in business...I gave the police a key to my front door...in case of a burglary at night...

at my house...I have an extra key mounted in a lock box on the exterior of my garage door...it needs a code to open it...but I have never given it to the police...maybe he has one on file with his local PD...

I would think it would be an illegal search if they found the cocaine in his desk...or night stand...or kitchen drawer...
I would find it hard to believe it was lying on the kitchen table in plain view...

he has also had renovations on his house in the last year and has spent very little time there this year...according to neighbors...
