N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

The NFL continues to commit suicide:

In a boost to the NFL's efforts around social justice, Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by iconic rapper, businessman and activist Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, has agreed to lead the league's endeavors in music and entertainment. As part of the long-term partnership, Roc Nation will advise on the selection of artists for NFL tentpole events, including the Super Bowl, as well as play a key role in the production and promotion of new music.

I guess Hank Jr. will get fired again......................................BS.

The NFL is essentially Teflon when it comes to who they hire and affiliate with as long as the ratings remain strong.

I am just as guilty as the next person. I might join the conversation about how much I dislike the idea of Shawn Carter having anything to do with the NFL, but I am still going to watch the games etc.

I saw the tv special about this guy, contained within the Bama/Auburn rivalry. This guy is a complete nutcase. There are recordings of him calling into a local sports talk show and admitting over the air that he did the deed. He comes off as a complete raving lunatic. -- Al

Maybe some good will come of this! LOL. I never saw the need to turn football into an entertainment spectacle with musical performances and fireworks. Can't imagine a single fan decides to watch or attend a game based on music or entertainment. What gets me is the hypocrisy of hiring someone like Jay-Z who once stabbed a guy to promote social justice. This is obviously a PR shakedown. A payoff to appease the players who protested the national anthem. Jesse Jackson used to pull this stunt a lot. He would approach some corporation and tell them that we would make a lot of claims that they were discriminating unless they gave him a "donation." Pretty sad state of affairs that real issues are glossed over to get big payoffs for celebrities.

I don't think the Jay Z signing is as big a thing as you're making out to be. He and the music (and all that comes with it) appeals to the under 35 crowd, which is the group they're trying to attract or keep watching. If today were the 60s and Pete Rozelle signed Dylan (or name your rock star or impresario from that time) to do shows, people from our parents generation would have been complaining.

Can someone please explain that bizarre clapping Kyler Murray was doing last night instead of having a verbal cadence? I have seen QB's do it along with a vocal snap count to draw an offsides etc. but I have never seen a player do it as if he is cheering for his favorite band?

This just in per Adam Shefter;

"NFL is reinstating Patriots’ WR Josh Gordon, league source tells ESPN."

No suspension, he can report as of Sunday...…………..

Ok, never thought that would happen.

First and foremost for his sake, I hope he can stay clean and sober.

Football is a distant, distant second.

I saw that...
it was funny...
I would of jumped off sides every time...i
I thought it was legal though?????

The Raiders stink.

And they made the Cardinals look horrendous.

So what does that say about the Cardinals?

And Chandler Jones, who shot his way out of Foxboro; how's the view?

Since he left, the Patriots have been to 4 strait AFCCG's, three Super Bowls and won two.

The Cardinals have been to the playoffs a grand total of zero times.

Good luck with that Chandler.

It was so strange looking. I have expected to hear him yell, "Let's Go Cardinals!", followed by the continuous clapping he did.

Would rather he yell "Let's go cardinals!" than "Omaha!!" like Frankenforehead used to do when he was playing for the Donkos………….and speaking of them, what happened to that team, incredible defense, two trips to the Super Bowl, one win, now they stink...……………….

Not making it a big thing. Just noting my opinion. The irony here is that even the players don't like it and are calling it out as BS. A clear payoff by the NFL relating to the disastrous CK PR situation. If someone under 35 wants to hear Jay-Z or any other rock star I think there are plenty of other options than attending a NFL game. And if it were necessary to hire someone to promote "social justice" maybe they could find someone who hasn't stabbed anyone?

"H to the Izzo" doesn't do it for you then?...…………………...:wink2:

this kid...Kyle Johnson...is a rat...
what a fleece job he was trying to pull off on Zeke Elliott...

not saying Elliott was right...
or deserved no punishment...
he wasn't and he did...

after the NFL said no reprimand...
and the Vegas police declined to file charges...
here is the rest of the story...

Elliott quickly apologized to Johnson after the incident, according to TMZ, which he said Johnson accepted, and even took a picture together.

“We gave each other a hug and he asked me to take a picture with him, which I was happy to do as there was never any intention to harm or hurt Kyle.”

According to TMZ, Johnson and his father sent Elliott’s attorney’s a large list of demands just days after the initial incident.

They asked for $500,000,
a public apology,
a joint press conference,
$25,000 for Johnson’s junior college football team,
multiple tickets to both Cowboys and Ohio State games
and a “meet and greet” with Dallas owner Jerry Jones and his son, Stephen Jones.
signed jerseys from Elliott, wide receiver Amari Cooper and quarterback Dak Prescott.

again...
Elliott screwed up...AGAIN....and should have received some punishment...
what a shakedown...
but this was one greedy little fart...

I know athletes make a lot of mistakes...
but the public really tries to hold their feet to the fire when they think they can hit a payday...

Glad to see the Rams exposing the NFL in these bogus preseason games. McVay is not playing a single starter and most are not even dressing. Down 14-10 late in the game to the Cowboys he lets the clock run out without using any TOs. Priceless. The officials called 30 penalties in that game! Absolutely brutal to watch. A bad joke. At least there was no Jay-Z performance.

what's the point?
worst case scenario is injuring a starter...
I read an article today about replacing the four pre-season games...
with four 2 team organizations joint practices...
but that will never happen...
there's no money in it...

If I were an NFL coach, I'd do the same thing, not one starter would see the field, use the 4 games to give everyone else a long look, try to figure out who to keep as back ups and to stash on the practice squad.

Kudos to him...……….
