N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (4 Viewers)

How old are we talking here; some 92 year old blue hair who's got one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel or a 74 year old still full of life?

I'm going to need specifics.

And that knife cuts both ways too; fans of opposing teams want a player tarred, feathered and hung in the public square over every issue because it will positively impact their team, so who's ****ting who here.

And what if it wasn’t live tv. Hmmm.

this is sooooooo true...

I'm as guilty as anybody...

I used to hate Neon Deion with all his "Prime Time" antics...
when he played with Atlanta and San Fran...
til the Cowboys drafted him...
then I loved him...:rolleyes2:

Greg Hardy...
when they picked him up...
I just bit my tongue and said to myself...
everybody deserves a second chance...
now that he is gone...
he's a thug in my opinion...^&grin

right now I'm hating on Zeke...
wonder how long that will last...

fans have convenient memories to suit their needs...

You root for the name of the front of the jersey, not the one on the back, or put another way, you root for the laundry, that's what fans do, that's how we all roll...………………;)…………..

I am in the same boat as all of you, especially when it comes to my teams and teams I dislike.

The only exception I have had was Barry Bonds. I couldn't stand him and I never cheered for him. My greatest moment as a Giants fan was when they won the pennant in 2010, it was made all the sweeter knowing that Bonds was not on the team.

Conversely, when a player has left a team, as when Strawberry left the Mets, he is dead to me; he is now the enemy.

Just read an article this week in the monthly Baltimore magazine. Recaps all the players I grew up watching and were my sports heroes that now have Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, CTE, etc. It's quite an extensive list. Puts Luck's decision in perspective. All the best to him. He was quite a quarter back. Chris

Players injuries are a serious concern which is why the NFL should not go to an 18-game schedule but should role it back to 14. But there is no legitimate concern among the owners. That is all hypocrisy. They only care about money. In Luck's case, he retires at the age of 29 with millions in the bank. No one forced him or anyone else to play football and these guys do so knowing the risks. Most people would trade places with them in a heartbeat for the money and supermodel girlfriends. A few boos among some nitwit fans comes with the territory. Luck seems like a decent guy in comparison to most other NFL players but there is no reason to feel sorry for him or cast him as a martyr. Colts fans that doled out big money for season tickets only to learn a couple weeks before the season that they are getting a backup QB have every right to express their displeasure even if it is arguably misplaced.

I have heard rumours he is heading to XFL as his father runs it . Hope they put a no football for anyone clause in his payoff

I doubt that. He seems like a sincere guy who is leaving the game for health concerns. I wouldn't rule out his ever coming back to play football, though, as most athletes need that adulation from the adoring fans. Being a regular person is a bummer.

the article about him leaving that I thought was so ridiculous...
was this sport's journalist saying Isray needs to offer to refund the fans for their tickets now that Luck is gone...

https://sports.yahoo.com/after-lett...we-his-ticket-holders-anything-003515796.html

this is the dumbest thing ever...
this won't happen...

if a player is traded...injured...retires...suspended...etc...
you don't get a refund on your tickets cause he was your favorite player...
never gonna happen...

good luck with that...

Interesting points as of late and if I am being honest, I hope the Steelers take care of business on Antonio Brown and Leveon Bell, it would be just desserts in my book. They are 2 classless individuals, but then again, I thought that when they were Steelers, just chose to ignore it and take their production.

I think we're all the same on that...like George said..."you root for the name of the front of the jersey, not the one on the back"...

other than they are both very talented...I don't like the way the handled things...especially AB...he is kind of crazy...he's given Gruden fits already...

the Steelers must be really glad to get rid of AB...
what a poison he is to a the Raiders...
I keep reading one story after another about this nut...
screwed his feet up getting frostbite while going barefoot in a cryotherapy machine...
fighting the NFL on helmets...
not showing up to walk throughs...
not showing up to practice...
walking off in the middle of practice...
fined for not showing up...
going to social media to criticize ownership for accrued fines...
arguing...cussing out...calling their GM a "cracker" at practice...
now barred from practice...
there's talk of suspending him and recouping the Raider's guaranteed money in the contract...
he's like the child of the heinous offspring of Dez Bryant and Terrell Owens...
monster child...
all that talent and he can't get his sheeeet together...

what a loser...
I bet Tomlin is laughing his butt off right now...
smartest thing the Steelers ever did...

Maybe this loser will learn his lesson when he is out of football and has to get a job in the real world, at real world wages, in order to feed himself. What an idiot. -- Al

Al...
it actually may come to that...

I think management is fed up with him...
they issued a statement a week ago that it's time to get your head straight and play football or else...
now they have issued notice on fines that may or may not be collected...
time will tell on that...
and he might possibly have to forfeit his guaranteed money...
he is really screwing up by straining relations with the Mayock...
calling him a "cracker"...
that's an ugly racial slur...almost on par with the "N" word...

I think the Steelers must be delighted they cut him...

Antonio Brown just came out and apologized to Maycock...

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27551830/source-ab-apologizes-team-initiated-gm-tiff

sounded sincere...
but maybe too little too late...
I don't know...
maybe it's all water under the bridge now...
but I think he sees what at stake now on his guaranteed money...

I think Gruden is trying to diffuse the whole situation cause he wants AB on the team...
he wants to win...

AB seems like a confused angry man...
another day in the life of the NFL...^&grin

Mike:

The problem is that he has done this sooooooooooo many times. At this point you don't ask what will happen if he does this again, it is a matter of when.

-Jason

Jason...

the "when" didn't take long....

Antonio Brown asks Raiders to release him in an Instagram post...

AB posted a taped conversation of him and Gruden...
which looks like it was the straw that broke the camel's back...

by fining Antonio Brown $215,073.53 last night for conduct detrimental to the team on Sept. 4th...
the Raiders voided the $29.125 million worth of guaranteed money in his deal...
there goes the big pay day...
he has reverted his services to get paid on a week to week basis...

this guy has really screwed up now...
I doubt another team would touch him after the Steelers dumped him and now the Raiders voided his contract...
