N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

Got back awhile ago from Foxboro, what an opener.

33-3, yikes.

Wasn't expecting that to be honest.

Gordon was a beast tonight, Dorsett was too, Brady was surgical, not bad for 42.

This week will be interesting trying to work AB into the offense.

When they run 10 personnel, Gordon and Brown on the outside, Edelman in the slot, Dorsett in the TE spot, White or Burkhead out of the backfield.

As a DC, who do you cover, who do you put your top corner on, who do you put your top cover linebacker on?

As good as they were with Moss/Welker/Stallworth, Brown/Gordon/Edelman could be better.

Holy smokes.

Patriots better start off 8-0. There is no excuse if they don't. Their schedule is one of the easiest for the 1st half. I honestly don't think there is a more complete team out there. If Gordon and Brown don't self implode then this should be another Super Bowl appearance for the Pats.

So glad my Lions could find another way to wash a win away. Silly me for thinking a 17 point lead going into the 4th was gonna be enough. Should have known "Same Old Lions". A tie just sucks!
Looking like us Redskin fans have tickets on the same sinking cruise ship. We also had a 17-0 lead and threw it away to lose, even though we did score in the last 6 seconds to make it look like we were close.:rolleyes2: Another long season with no reward would seem to be in order. -- Al

I'm in that club too; Jets blew a 16-0 lead.

For a lot of teams, yesterday was the first preseason game, except that it counted. Teams should be better next week and certainly the week after. If teams are not going to play their in-season starting lineups throughout the preseason, then there is no point to having it. Otherwise, you will continue to get some of the performances we saw in week 1.

Agreed in that the preseason has become a joke, what's the point, the end result is you get games like the ones yesterday for the most part.

Glad to hear you had a good time George- that game was painful to watch, my son Andrew, the Giants fan, was talking about this one for the last two days....by midway into the second quarter he goes "Dad, wanna go out and play ping pong?" {sm3}

Not sure if this is an indicator of how good the Pats are or if it's a rebuild for Pitt. The road to the SB does appear to be in NE's favor though you just don't know. If this team lives up to their hype, I think the only way to beat them is with your ground game. Pound the line, throw a pass or two here and there- move the chains and keep 12 on the sidelines to try to keep them off synch. Defense can bend but not break- don't give up a big play and let them gain momentum. The way the NFL is coupled with how good NE is, I just don't think the answer is with D, I think it's in the running game. Score points, move the chains, chew up the clock.

Well, glad I quit the NFL, I didn't watch the debacle, I checked in twice and it was not pretty. Here is how it went in my household (Avid Steelers),around 8pm - Logan, do you want to watch, "Nah, I have to finish a little homework and then I think I am going to watch Netflix. Me - I decided to catch up on my DVR - Marvel Agents of Shield. My Wife - working in the kitchen actually watched more than both of us. Of course she went to college in New England an a lot of Pats fans are friends and/or work for the team, so she had more interest. In all seriousness, what I noticed is the Pats are very good on defense for the series I watched.

End of day - I woke up this morning no worse for the wear and for once didn't care about the NFL, actually a refreshing feeling. I think this year is a good break to remind myself that it just doesn't matter, it is entertainment only and it truly is a bunch of millionaires running around for a bunch of billionaires. I should be able to get a lot more done on Sundays this fall and am looking forward to it!

End of story.

Love or hate 'em. The Pats are a machine. Whatever they are doing it works like no one else has ever been able to replicate.

The season may be over already, at least for the AFC.

Yes, I can't wait until they play Miami. I heard some guy on the radio trying to explain why the Pats chances of winning the SB are enhanced over the years and a lot of it was that they play in an absolutely horrible division. They are guaranteed a division win and home field in the first round right out of the gate. That seems more true this year than perhaps ever before. The hapless Jets blew a game to the hapless Bills yesterday. The Bills turned the ball over 4 times and still managed to win. No team in that division will likely be .500.

The Dolphins in Miami have been the Patriots kryptonite for years, decades really.

Back in 2004 they were fighting for HFA with the Steelers and played the hapless Doofins on a Monday night, the Doofins were 1-11 at the time and they somehow managed to beat the Patriots, Doofins players acted like they won the Super Bowl.

In 2015 again with HFA on the line, the last game of the year in Miami, Doofins players had their bags packed for the year, the Patriots for some idiotic reason featured a vanilla offense and lost HFA and eventually the AFCCG in Denver.

Last year featured "The Miami Miracle", Gronk flopping around like a fish out of water as the last line of defense on that play was pathetic.

And don't forget 1980 as once again, the Patriots had everything to play for on a Monday night and the Doofins were already out of the playoffs, but that didn't stop them from blocking a last minute FG, forcing overtime and eventually winning, knocking the Patriots out of the playoffs.

It's always something in Miami, so we'll see how things play out.

I'm going out on a limb and guaranteeing that doesn't happen this year. That is assuming Miami still has enough players to field a team. Their coach looked like he had wandered down from the stands and couldn't believe they were letting him stand on the field. One game into the season and the Pats have basically clinched that division. The most surprised coach this week was whoever coaches the Bills. He couldn't seem to believe they actually won a game. That is one more than he expected this season.

You never fail to make me laugh...……:)

"Whoever the fan is sitting in section 320, row 5, seat 11, come on down, you've been picked to be Doofins coach for a day, congratulations!!"

I love how this guy was the defacto DC here (but he really wasn't, Belichick ran that defense last year after that ****show of a performance in the SB to the Iggles, talk about an embarrassing defensive game plan, unable to stop a back up tomato can QB) and falls *** backwards into the Miami job and then the organization goes into full tank mode, trades away anyone with a spec of talent, Flores won't be around to see the rebuild, he'll be out the door in a couple of years.

And I got the same impression about the Bills coach, the look on his face was "Hey, what just happened, you mean we won?...……."

And I love the moral outrage expressed by the Smiths, Whitlocks and others of the world over the AB signing, "What a disgrace, this was rigged, something is not right with this, he wanted to be in NE all along, so he shot his way out of Oakland and landed in NE"...………………

Their salty tears taste so sweet.

I take nothing for granted, football is all about injuries and your ability to survive them, it's not like they are playing the march of the tomato cans this year; Pittsburg, Cleveland, Baltimore, KC, Dallas, Philadelphia, the Texans, all they need to do is go 4-3 vs them and they'll be in great shape come playoff time, winning vs the Chefs at home will probably decide HFA if everything else breaks right.

Long season, so we'll see...…………...

It looks like the beginning of the end for the Steelers, they cut loose two all world offensive talents, all they have left is one WR and a QB who just wants to throw long bombs all game long.

I was reading a story from a local Patriots hater hack who was babbling about how Steelers camp this year was camp tranquility, they are relaxed and focused and no distractions for them.

Yeah gee; that didn't show last night. They called a time out AFTER a TV time out for the two minute warning, had one play where the center did not move, but the whole line did, they threw a fade pass on third down and goal at the one, then on fourth down trailing 20-0, they kicked a field goal?

Good Lord.

Tomlin is just in over his head with Belichick, Tomlin is playing checkers, Belichick is playing chess.

They were great in the 1970's, faded in the mid to late 1980's, came back in the mid 1990's and were highly competitive through about 2011 or so, the last few years have not been pretty.

You made the right call.

Sometimes getting pissed at the right time works, other times not. This case I think I just don't care. Agree Pittsburgh has its own issues of its own making. I still do think as a whole, organization does the right thing better than most. They gave Ben a second chance b/c they had to as a business, he is truly lucky for that b/c he is the only one in modern history I can think of where they did that and it was publicized. Usually when the story makes it to the public, they are long gone in Pittsburgh. Brown, different story, Tomlin apparently put up with a lot behind the scenes, Emmanuel Sanders exposed that one last year and Ben did in a way too.

Regarding their letdowns, I think in a few of those years, it was the Pats being that good that decided their fate. Pats were just better, it really was last year that stood out as a collapse and the sinking started. They will be back at some point. Regarding this year, I only care about 2 games. I hope they can spoil the Raven's happiness. I only will watch 2 games and hope for 2 wins!

Sports is, was and always should be a form of entertainment like movies, plays, TV shows, rock concerts.

It's nice to get together with a bunch of people, have some good food, adult beverages and have some fun for a few hours.

As you pointed out, your life does not change either way if your team wins or loses, it's a momentary high if they win and a momentary low point when they lose.

It really hit home to me when I was at a wargaming show and a guy was wearing a "2000 Super Bowl Champion St. Louis Rams" tee shirt.

And it was 2017.

Miami Dolphins wrong end of 55-10,,Goodnight Rick weaver,,hank Goldberg and Neil Rogers wherever you are

Good to see the Saints fans have gotten over that missed PI call from the playoffs! LOL. What a circus down there. They almost choked again but got bailed out by a kicker who knocked one through from almost 60 yards.

Maybe it's me but I had very little interest in seeing yesterday's games.

There is definitely sports saturation on TV. I think all sports are suffering from fan exhaustion. I watched a ton on college football on Saturday from about noon until nearly midnight. It is an enormous waste of time but the masses have to be kept occupied with something.
