N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

didn't take OBJ but one game to start his antics...
so petty...
these are the type of distractions that don't help the team in any fashion...

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27586528/beckham-says-keep-wearing-watch-games

Yes, some guys are just constantly stepping in it. Their own worst enemies. Obviously, no player needs to wear a watch during the game. And if it becoming a distraction, why not just say he won't do it again? He can wear it to his heart's content before or after the game. Case closed. But no. It has to become a big deal due to his ego and lack of judgment requiring the league to make some decision. Then he will get angry, appeal, and round and round it goes. Meanwhile his highly touted Browns got spanked.

it's such a trivial petty thing...
I almost feel like they are just seeking attention...
the most talented players always seem to be the worst on blending into the system...
I want to say receivers...and running backs especially...

I think you are right about the attention. A normal person would be thankful to make millions and have the adulation of the masses for playing a game. They would likely try to avoid these petty controversies. But some players, celebs and politicians thrive on the attention even if it is negative attention. It has to be all about them all the time. They can't get enough. Massive ego along with a massive insecurity complex.

I'm not using OBJ as an example...
I have seen him in a few ads in the past...but nothing comes to mind lately...
but when you pull this crud...rock the boat over nothing...it just alienates you from the public and sponsors...

on a more serious note...
guys like Adrian Peterson...Tyreek Hill...Greg Hardy...Ray Rice....etc...
the list goes on forever...and that's just the NFL
when you screw up in society...and cause discord as an athlete in your organization...
you don't get endorsements...
nobody wants your name associated with their product...

Dak Prescott currently makes a ton of money in endorsements...
roughly $50 million a year...
A TON OF $$$$$$$$$!!!!
those endorsement deals are in place for years...

as a 4th round pick...
his first year he made $545,000...
second year...$635.000...
third year...$725.000...
this year...his fourth year...he makes only...$2,120,000...
all peanuts compared to his endorsements...
he's due for a payday on his next contract...

his endorsements...
AT&T...
DirectTV...
Panini America...
New Era caps...
Beats by Dre headphones....
Campbell's Chunky Soup...
Tostitos tortilla chips....
Pepsi...
7-Eleven...
Nicholas Air...

you keep your nose clean...don't rock the boat...excel at your position...live in a good market and have an agent that can sell you...
the sky is the limit...
you rock the boat...
stir the pot...
you watch their commercials on tv instead of getting your own...

I don't know if this video was staged or not...
it was his first year...
not saying it was or wasn't...
but I doubt he picks up his trash now...:rolleyes2:

the public loves a clean image...
it's how we want to see ourselves...
a role model for their children...
and sponsors will pay to use it to promote their product....

I did...just saw it on ESPN...unreal!
I can hear him now..."the world is against me!"
this may cause him to unwind really fast...:rolleyes2:

I bet Bill has a stomach ache tonight...

I swear the Steelers have a sixth sense about this crap. One small reported item from last year - remember about the time he was in the downward spiral at Pittsburgh, there was a report of him throwing a couch from his balcony, it largely went away, but I seriously think he lost his marbles.

the man has a gift for writing...:rolleyes2:

GOOD LORD> Well, I hope the Patriots made him use erasable ink on that contract. If he survives this I will be surprised but stranger things have happened. I mean look at Josh Gordon? How they have kept him clean I don't know, I don't get that one either. But I hear Martavius Bryant is looking for work!! Another gifted one who can't stop smoking!l

My next prediction - L. Bell tests positive for dope!

lets make 100% sure he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt before we hang the man...

texts could be fake...
only heard one side of the story...

I'm just saying...
I need more proof before I send him to the guillotine...

if so...
I agree...
NE should cut him...

not sure if Bill will...

but pretty positive the league will...
or
Goodell will place Brown on the commissioner's exempt list for now...

Brad...

explain this to me if you would please...

why is he being charged in a federal court...
as opposed to a state or municipal court...
what does that mean?
is it because it happened in several states as opposed to one state?
is it because it's a civil suit?
I don't understand...
please expand on this...

also...
is it true that it's easier to win a civil suit than a criminal trial?
like OJ's trial and civil suit...

An individual can’t bring a criminal case.
Also, criminal is “beyond a reasonable doubt” which is a very high standard. A civil case is a “preponderance of the evidence” which basically mean “more likely then not”... just have to tip the scale to he probably did it. Much lower standard and easier.
Also, the victim doesn’t get $ in a criminal case.

On top of what Zach said, she’s bringing a suit for damages, not a criminal complaint. The evidentiary standard is lower. As Zach noted, it may be a preponderance of the evidence; if the jury found that more likely than not (51 to 49%) he committed the acts alleged in the complaint, he will be found liable. Remember the OJ case; he got off on the criminal matter but then he was sued civilly and the family won. Different standards of evidence.

I think his texts/emails are going to sink him in this case whether consensual or not, something is rotten in this story and it could be either or both sides. Again, I stand by my original statement, I think he lost his mind somewhere along the line, he starting drinking his own kool aid.

From a pure team/athletic standpoint, the Pats don't need this distraction and circus. The Defense is arguably after week 1, one of the best on the field, they don't need him, the offense is great without him. Say what you want about the Steelers, their offense in the last couple of years has never been the problem, so for them to score 3 points, you have to figure the Pats have a very good one!

TD

I assume the NFL will do an investigation (where the standard can be preponderance; that's the standard the law firm of Paul Weiss used in the Brady investigation) and may suspend him. It might be best if the NFL were rid of him for awhile.

I'm assuming no criminal case was brought because the State's Attorney didn't think they could obtain a conviction.

A.) "Also, the victim doesn’t get $ in a criminal case."

B.) "something is rotten in this story...…"

A.) No she won't.

B.) And yes there is.

Oh, the league is going to do their own investigation; that should turn out well.

So the day before he's going to begin his career with New England, a civil law suit gets filed.

Things that make you go HHMMMM...……..:rolleyes2:

Can they void the Thomas to the Jets trade now, looks like they're going to need him.
