N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (6 Viewers)

Antonio Brown...remember him?

the guy that leaves scorched earth everywhere he goes...

AB is going after NE for his guaranteed money (9-10 million worth of cap)...
apparently he has contacted the NFLPA...
and wants to persue it...

his argument is...
that NE allowed to him play at least 1 game after knowledge of his alleged rape accusations...
in other words...both parties knew what they were getting...
and that they must have been okay with his moral standing...if they allowed him to play in that game...

then...
they fired him after he sent a text asking employees to gather info of the second girl that made allegations...

I understand that there is an extensive morals clause in his contract...
but maybe NE overlooking it as not serious enough to sit him...
and instead allowing him to play...
might make them liable for the guaranteed...

I don't know...
it's a bizarre but interesting argument...
by a bizarre and interesting guy...^&grin
I'll let the legal minds give their opinions...

with Eli on the bench...
the Giants...with Daniel Jones...
won a road game against a pretty good Tampa Bay team...
Jones played a good game...
336 yards passing...2 TD's...and no interceptions...
especially with Saquon Barkley on the bench with a high ankle strain...
which they say may take him out 4-6 games...
NY went ahead 32-31 very late in the 4th quarter...
after receiving the kickoff...with just 1:16 left in the game...
TB quickly drove down to field goal range (9 yard line) with .04 seconds left on the clock...
being basically in extra point range for the winning field goal...
they missed it and the Giants won...
a win is a win...
it's a new era with Jones for the Giants...

Bears are up big so far. Of course, they are playing the Redskins.

Chicago needs this after what happened to the Cubs this weekend.

Go Bears!!

Didn't they go 16-0 one year and still lose the SB? It's a long season. The Bills and 49ers are 3-0 but they might not make the playoffs.

The year they went 16-0, they lost the Super Bowl?

Not true according to my therapist, I'll have to ask her about this in my next session...………..

NFL owners reportedly now will push for 17-game schedule, not 18...

still... not a good idea...the only thing I agree with in this article is reducing the amount of pre-season games...I'm a huge NFL...and I don't even watch those on tv...I can't imagine actually buying a ticket to watch guys that won't be there in a few weeks...gotta be an extreme hardcore fan to do that...

on the proposed 18 game season...16 games is a brutal schedule...18 is just too much...17 is too much...players are gotta get hurt with a greater frequency...

and to buy a ticket...to see a watered down version of my team...cause each player will be taking a mandatory two games off during the regular season schedule...doesn't work for me either...if I buy a ticket...I want to see the best they have to offer...not some second string QB...

the owners are just getting too greedy...

if any of you want to know just how diehard Philly sports fans are this sums it up right here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dz7sFwpG6o

This dude is literally doing a live TV interview and talking about the efforts he and some other dudes made to rescue babies and then BAM!!! Shades Agholor and goes right back to talking about the rescue effort- dude didn't even miss a beat!!!

EASILY the most entertaining NFL moment of the past decade for me!!!

Yes, that is an absolutely terrible idea driven by greed. Just look at how many starting QBs are already injured in just the third week of this season. It highlights the hypocrisy of the owners concerning player safety. They should be moving back to a 14-game schedule with one or no preseason games. The Rams haven't played a starter in preseason in the last two years.

Do you think that we can finally change the 1000 yard rusher benchmark if they move it to 17 games? As it stands right now with 16 games it requires a running back to average 62.5 yards a game. If they go to 17 it drops to 58 yards a game.

true!
if 58 yards a game satisfies the benchmark...
it's also just so happens to be considered a pretty below average day for any RB in the NFL...

Mike:

It was relevant when there was a 10 or 12 game season, it is long outdated and yet somehow it still symbolizes great running backs?

This has Belichick's prints all over it. He wanted Brown and told them to get it done. His competitive instincts override any concerns about ethics. He has so much power that no one in that organization will challenge him. Least of all Kraft who is not very bright.

I don't know who is responsible for this screw up...
Belichick...Kraft...whoever wrote the unprotected contract...
I don't know and we may never know...

the contract and hiring was done so fast...almost like they rushed through it...
there were several stories that the deal was done so quickly...
that people speculated collusion in AB's hiring....
that it was all planned before it happened...

I dislike AB so much...
he's like a hurricane that leaves a path of destruction everywhere he goes...
he has now left 3 teams in 11 months in disarray...

I hope he doesn't get a penny...
and after taking a shot at Kraft on social media...
he has made a wealthy enemy who is probably willing to spend 10 million plus...
just to avoid paying AB 10 million...

if AB wins this case...
he will have the highest paid contract per game played ever...

still....he who has the gold makes the rules...
and Kraft has the gold...

I know you have this inveterate dislike for the Patriots but it’s hyperbole to label Kraft as you did. Aside from the Pats, he’s built and maintained several businesses including his paper product business. Now, if you want to say what he did in Florida was not bright, I agree but let’s not paint him with a broad brush.

There is no doubt that the signing of AB despite his recent history was driven entirely by Belichick. Kraft is too weak and lacks the common sense to see what anyone else could see coming. A total disaster. Any competent owner would have told their coach to forget it. So if Kraft is a genius for making money then he can also be deemed an incompetent for losing $9 million plus on a deal that any child could have told him wasn't going to work. I don't have any doubt that Kraft has certain skills that made him a success in business (not necessarily intelligence) but those are not evident in how he runs his team. In that regard, he won the lottery getting Belichick as his coach but then sold his soul to him.

I bet there are a few owners out there who would love to run their teams as horribly as kraft!

I don't think it's fair to blame Kraft...
for AB and the NE miscues over the years...

as it's no more fair to credit Kraft with running the team...
and accumulating the 6 Super Bowl wins...

he's the owner...
he doesn't strap on a helmet or call plays from the sideline...
