N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (4 Viewers)

George...
I don't get it...
how could anything cater to fantasy football...
what rule change could make fantasy football easier/better/more exciting?

you know both Jones and Kraft are heavily invested in the football betting market?

Mike,
From what little I know about fantasy football, you get points for certain things, offense drives the bus, QB's, RB's TE's, WR's, so the NFL is pushing offense as offense drives fantasy football.

George...

a friend of mine used to do it...
he had downloaded a Draft Kings ap to his phone...
he then deposited money with them via credit card...

the format was that it's like a "group pool tournament"...
culminating in one winner...
with a lot of players...
you would enter an NFL tournament pool for $5.00 or more (different levels) and draft a team...

only 1 QB...only 2 WR's...only 1 TE...only 1 RB......etc...
from all the teams playing that week...
til you had an offense of 11 players...

you started with like 1 million dollars monopoly money payroll...
and budget it out til you picked your best 11 personnel on offense while staying under your budget...

then each player's performance that week was graded with points...

whatever player's team accumulated the most points that week...
won the pool minus Draft King's fee...

he let me do one tournament one day while we were drinking beer after golfing...
I came in like 350th out of 400 entries...^&grin

both Jones, Kraft and the Steinbrenners are/were minority owners...
the league has okayed it...
I read it was very lucrative for both of them...

Draft Kings was allegedly getting away from the fantasy football format...
and going to a more traditional style football wagering...
which I guess is legal...

maybe the NFL rule changes have brought lesser skilled players (QB's...WR's...etc...)...
onto a more level field of play with the elite players for a fantasy football format...

Sorry, but the day I have to start pulling for my opponents team players to do great will be a cold day in Hell...winning money or not.

Giants look putrid tonight. I thought they had a shot to win this game.

Possibly the worst I’ve seen them. The D just looks like they don’t care at all

They are hot garbage, good thing they signed Nate Solder away from the Patriots, what a huge addition to assist them towards a 1-15 record vs 0-16.

Their offense is a tire fire too, maybe they should bring back the single-wing formation, it could extend Eli's career by 20 years.

The radio waves will be burning up tomorrow after that game. Now that the Yankees have left the scene, NY sports is awful.

At least the Jets have a promising young QB on their roster, the Jints have a guy who'd look better driving a tractor bringing in the corn harvest vs standing behind center.

Imagine that hayseed with his two Super Bowl wins will be in the HOF someday; he'd better invite Wes Welker to the ceremony, his third down drop of a sure first down that would have iced the game for the Patriots in the 2012 Super Bowl led to the TD drive for Opie and the Jints which allowed them to take the lead.

Unbelievable.

I don't think Eli is that bad...
in fact...
I don't think he is bad at all...
he has ZERO blocking on his offensive line...
none...
he gets pounded every single game...
he's a pocket passer...as are a lot of QB's in the NFL...
he can't run...
he rarely has time to set up...
still completing almost 69% of his passes...
I don't know why NY doesn't address that issue...
he would be a lot better if he had a few seconds in the pocket...

last night he was sacked 4 times...
hit 13 times...
13 times in one game!
that's a lot!
he leads the league in sacks...
20 sacks in 6 games...
he gets pulverized every single game...
that offensive line would make any QB look bad...

their defensive has not been very productive either...

they have arguably the most dynamic RB in the game in Barkley...
one of the best receivers in the league with OBJ...

they are gonna keep losing games and probably get him killed until he gets some blocking...

Mike:

While I don't think Manning is anywhere near the QB he once was I couldn't agree with you more about the Giants's offensive line. Even in the shotgun he was in a pocket that essentially collapsed the moment the ball was snapped. When you have an offensive line like that pass plays can't develop as receivers might be able to run half their route before the QB has to get rid of it.

Plenty of blame to go around but I singling out Manning is unfair.

Mike, I hate yo disagree but he is shot. He doesn’t throw down fiend anymore and a lot of his passes are short stuff and check offs, etc. He’s been beaten up over the years and he’s gun shy now; who can blame him. They should have drafted a QB and will need to draft one next year. This team is heading for another high draft choice.

Brad...

I can't argue that comment...he is definitely gun shy now...

I would be too...all the beatings that he takes...

he just dumps the ball when the pressure is on...
and I don't blame him...

I just can't put all the blame on him...

at 37 he is still young by today's standards...
on throwing deep...
like Jason says...
a pocket passer needs time for WR's to run a deep route...
his line can't protect him and he can't scramble to buy that time...

I think if they had a line that could protect him for 4 seconds...
he would be a lot better than he looks now...

and yes...
they are at the point where a franchise QB is the future...
but I would draft an O-line first...
or the new QB is gonna get killed too...
and he will be gun shy in 2 years...

Brady...Brees...Rodgers...
nobody would look good behind that O-line...

The problem with using a high draft pick on an offensive lineman is that the fan base gets upset because it is not a "glamour" pick.

Jason...

that's kind of true...
offensive linemen are not the sexy draft choice of the fans...
most fans are short sighted...
and always want home run hitters...

Dallas was criticized by their fans for going this route for several years...
drafting a strong O-line to compliment the running game and pass protection...
but the fans jumped on board when the O-line was performing well...

at least until this year when Doug Free abruptly retired...
and Travis Fredrick was diagnosed and out with Guillain–Barré syndrome...^&grin
that kind of wiped out their O-line...

now they can't protect Prescott at all...
he's like a younger version of Eli...
getting no protection and being dominated by teams with a good pass rush or a 5 man blitz...
the lack of an elite wide receiver doesn't help either...

in Eli's case...
I think all he is lacking is pass protection...
I think he can make that team compete on a high level
they have an unreal talent at RB...and the WR positions...
whether they address that need for Eli...
or for the future QB they could draft in 2019...
either way...they need help there desperately...
they can't ignore that anymore for whoever is QB for them...
that is their weakness...
Eli would be infinitely better with some pass protection for a couple of more years in my opinion...

Mike:

The other problem is developing a strong offensive line does not happen over-night. Nowadays fans have no patience for that type of thing.

-Jason

Redskins get a win over Carolina but it was a close run thing. Ravens crushed the Titans 21-0 in the rain, and recorded a franchise record 11 sacks while holding the Titans to 106 yards total net offense on the day. Hard to believe this is the same team that lost to Cleveland last week.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Another Big Ben game winning drive! Conflicting reports about the number, on tv they said it was #44 successful game winning drive which would put him 10 behind Peyton and 1 in front of Brady, but on other sites, it says only 40? Not sure, but **** amazing stat.

I just hope the Steelers D continues to improve. Our secondary at crucial times is still like Swiss Cheese.

TD

Nice to see the Niners employing the olé bull fighter defensive strategy tonight on Monday Night Football. Just let them score on 4 plays for 80 yards that way you don't waste your time and energy trying to stop the inevitable.

Yeah, that's great...…….we won't talk about the blatant OPI that occurred on the game winning TD that the refs missed.

For a team that hasn't won a SB in a long time, they have more than their fair share of luck fall their way in games...………………..:wink2:

The Niners recovered after they gave up that first TD and they put up a heck of a fight but still lost 33-30 in a great game.

On a side note, Joe Tessitore is the most annoying broadcaster ever, I had to turn off the sound on the TV and turn on the local radio broadcast. They should have never gotten rid of Sean McDonough.
